MFTeaser Day 2

Calendar December2013 wm

Hi everyone,
Welcome to day 2 of the MFTeasers in preparation of the release of the new stamp sets which are all due to be released by MFT Stamps this coming Tuesday 13th November.

Today the Design Team are featuring two of the new stamp sets from designer Laina Lamb. The two stamp sets being featured is Document It Days and Dates and Journal It Calendar Basics.

I love creating calendars and a number of years ago I used to make quiet a few each year including hostessing calendar swaps. Earlier in the year while my husband and I were shopping at Ikea I found this fun photo frame thingy which had pockets to put the photos in it. When I saw it I thought it would be a great idea to use to for a calendar so picked it up straight away. So when I found out about the new Journal It Calendar Basics stamp set I knew I had to use this frame. I plan on creating a calendar page each month using the new MFT stamps being released like I did a couple of years back when the Pure Innocence Flowers of the month sets were released.

The calendar portion of the Journal It Calendar Basics stamp set can be used with the Die-namics LLD Insert It - 3x4 Insert. I used Sweet Tooth cardstock for the calendar. I stamped the Calendar Grid using black ink and then stamped ‘December’ using the new MFT Wild Cherry Ink Pad and the numbers using MFT Jellybean Green Ink Pad.

One tip I have for stamping the numbers is start with the number 0 and work backwards, that way you don’t have to keep going back and forth with the numbers 1,2 and 3.

To create the scene on the background I used the new Die-namics Snow Drifts die …. LOVE LOVE LOVE this die, it is one I have had on my wish list for a long time … it can be used for snow (of course), grass and just a fun border. I will have more on this for you to see coming up this week.

I also used the new Die-namics Jumbo Snowflake which I die cut three times from glittery paper and trimmed down two of the pieces and then layered using foam tape and finishing off using a Wild Cherry Button and Hemp Cord.

On the bottom of the calendar I added the year (this page is for 2013) using the numbers from Die-namics LLD Accent It Calendar Components using Wild Cherry cardstock

Stunning!!! They have something at Michaels that I "almost buy" every time I go in there! It is a pretty one legged stand that holds I think a 6 x 6 and one that holds larger....Your project makes me want to go out and buy it and make some calendar pages for it!!! Love your calendar....and I just wrote down the snow drift die for my wish list!!! It could be used for hills or sand as well as snow!!!
