Clean and Simple

MFT CC B&W wm

Hi everyone,

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.

This month, we were challenged to create fresh and clean projects - without the use of any pattern paper.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a clean and simple project to share with you today.

Clean and Simple isn’t exactly the easiest style of card for me to create, but of course a challenge is supposed to be a challenge isn’t it Winking smile. Recently I have been doing a Clean and Simple Card Making 2 class at Online Card Classes, in the hopes finding some tricks to help make this style of card a little easier.

Today I have three cards to share with you, I hope they all fit into the Clean and Simple category.

For my first card I decided to create a black and white card … those colors always look clean to me. I used the Die-namics Snow Drifts to create the curved edge to the lower black panel of my card. The flowers on the card are all created using the Die-namics Upsy-Daisy set. I die cut a bunch of flowers from Sweet Tooth card and a couple from Black Licorice card. I added the white ones over my black card  hanging some of the flowers over the edges and then I cut them flush to the card. I added some rhinestones to each of the flower centres.

I also added the sentiment along the curved edge of the black panel. The sentiment is from LJD On the Line stamp set.

I probably should have left it there, but I decided to add another flower to the top right hand corner this time making it a black flower.

Here is the inside of my card, I created another black panel using the Die-namics Snow Drifts and added just the one flower to the left side of the card. I also added another of the sentiments from the LJD On the Line stamp set.

Stamps: On The Line – MFT Stamps
Paper: Sweet Tooth; Black Licorice – MFT Stamps
Die-namics: Snow Drifts; Upsy Daisy – MFT Stamps
Other: Black Licorice Ink (MFT); White Gel Pen; Rhinestones

For my second card today I used LJD Embellished Eggs stamp set and Die-namics LJD Easter Elements . I cut my base card using Sweet Tooth card, I cut a thin strip of card from Orange Fizz card which I then embossed with an embossing folder. I then attached a thinner white card over the top of my base card so that some of the orange card shows. The chick was stamped using Premium Dye Ink Pad Lemon Drop. To finish off my card I added some Cantaloupe Twine to the top of my card.

Here is the inside of my card, I kept this very clean and simple by just adding the sentiment which is also from the LJD Embellished Eggs stamp set.

Paper: Sweet Tooth; Orange Fizz – MFT Stamps
Die-namics: LJD Easter Elements – MFT Stamps

And finally one last card, this is a square card and was inspired by one of the samples for the Clean and Simple Card Making 2 class I am taking.

I used three different background sets to create the background for this card … LJD Spring Backgrounds; LJD Hearts and Stitches and LJD Darling Dots. These were all stamped into a masked circle using Premium Dye Ink Pad Grape Jelly. I then airbrushed the inside of the circle using a copic marker.

I then white embossed the sentiment which is from the Gift Card Greetings. To finish off the card I added dashes using a spica pen.

Stamps: LJD Spring Backgrounds; LJD Hearts and Stitches; LJD Darling Dots; Gift Card Greetings – MFT Stamps
Paper: Sweet Tooth
Die-namics – Circle Stax 1
Other: Grape Jelly Ink Pad (MFT); Versamark Ink; White Embossing Powder; Copic Airbrush; Copic

Wow, three cards at once. I like your clean and simple style on these but I have to say that black and white card is a stunner.

Great work Frances - but for me your black & white card is in a zone of its' own! Isn't that curve DIVINE? I just love every element of that card.
