Karen Burniston December Designer Challenge Card 1

G’day Mates!

It's time for our December Karen Burniston Designer Challenge, this time round the theme Karen has given us is Pop it Ups for every month! The Design Team will be creating Pop It Ups cards to fill the calendar for a year.

I have created three cards for this challenge this month and for my first card, I am starting with January! January 26th is Australia Day and as I am an Aussie, I just had to create a card to celebrate this occasion.

I have used the Spiral Circle Pull Card to create my card. To decorate my card I used Honey the Bear which I converted from a bear to a koala. I had to make the ears bigger and give the koala an oval nose and I cut some black claws from the paws which I added to the hands and feet. Of course a koala needs to eat, so I used the Curvy Leaves die to create gum leaves.

I computer generated the “G’day Mate” which I die cut using the speech bubble from the Lorna Labels Pop Ups Card die set.

On the “flip” side of my card I added a Koala themed sentiment. On the right hand side of my card, I added the All Season Tree to create a gum tree and along the bottom of my card I used the grass from the Outdoor Edges die set.

The green dots on the closure pieces are faux candy dots I created by die cutting the Seasons Fancy Frame Edges dots frame and layering two dots together and then adding some Glossy Accents over them.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month. I will also be back tomorrow with another card to share with you for this challenge.
