Dog-Gone Good Birthday!

KBDogKennel-wm

Hi everyone,

If you follow Karen Burniston Designer or Elizabeth Craft Designs on Facebook or their blogs, then you have probably heard the news of the surprise special release of the new House Pivot Card Die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.… it was released earlier on the weekend.

I was super excited to be asked by Karen to create a couple of cards to use for the new release presentation. I am sharing one of my cards today and I will share the other later on during the week.
I love the house pivot card and can see so many uses for it. For my card today I decided to pull out some older stamps and turn the house into a dog kennel. To create the name on the kennel I used the inner portion of the door which is also included in the set.

KBDogKennel2-wm

Here is the inside of my card. The house die has a brick pattern on it which you can emboss to create the brick pattern if you wish … this of course is optional. I love the little fence on the right hand side, but it would be easy enough to have the fence on the other side just by folding your card the opposite way.

To create my card I die cut the House Pivot Base die onto a white card. I then die cut some masking paper with the same die and placed my mask over the house. I pulled out my favorite grass stamp and stamped that all over the lower portion of the card, masked along the top of my card and used my copic airbrush to color the grass. I then used my copic airbrush to create the clouds in the sky.

I added the dog and a few bones to the card and then added a tree which is the All Season Tree.
Both sentiments (on the front and inside) have been layered using one of the label dies from the Lucy Label Pop-Up Die set. I cut two extra pieces in red and cut them in half both ways so I could use these for layering behind the white label.

This die will be available in your local stamp store shortly.

Here are the products I used to create my card.

Stamps: Dog – Amazing Creations; Grass – Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers; Bone – All Night Media; Sentiment (front) – Paper Pretties; Sentiment (inside) – MFT Stamps
Paper: White
Dies: House Pivot Card; All Season Tree; Lucy Labels Pop-Up – Designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Crafts Designs
Other: Black Ink; Foam Tape; Copic Airbrush; Copics

If Friends Were Flowers!

ECDDaisyFlower-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for our very first Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge for 2014 and I am excited to be part of this awesome Design Team, the designers are so talented!!!

Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog tomorrow (Monday), when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Our theme this month is …. flowers!

ECDDaisyFlower2-wm

For my card today I decided to create a Pivot card using the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Crafts Designs.

To decorate my card I decided to use the Daisy Die and various colors of Shimmer Sheetz (see supply list below for colors used) to create my flowers. The daisy, leaves and stem are all included in this die set. On the front of the card I also added some grass which is from the Garden Bench Pop-Up Die set.
Tip: You will need to use the Cuttlebug / Big Shot Metal Adaptor Plate when die cutting Shimmer Sheetz.

ECDDaisyFlower3-wm

I added some bees around the flowers and also on the sentiment panels, I die cut the wings using double sided adhesive paper and once the bees were assembled I added the Warm Diamond Glitter to the wings to give them a bit of sparkle.

Along the join of the designer papers on the inside of my card I added the Lace Fan 2 Peel-Off Sticker border.

Solve This Puzzle

C4C229SolvePuzzle1-wm

Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Our challenge hostess for March, Kelli Hull finishes of her month with another fun challenge.

This week Kelli says ….. HA!  April Fools is right around the corner... let's create a card/project that has a trick in it... Pocket card, slider, magic card... you know, it has SOMETHING to give the receiver a OOOOO moment!!!!

As you can see I have created another pop up card …  I love making these Smile.

C4C229SolvePuzzle2-wm

This pop up does have a “trick” to it on the front of the card. You need to remove the cord from the card without cutting the card, breaking the string or removing the tag at the end of the string. It can be done …. I have had this stamp for quiet a few years and it was easy to locate the stamp, that took all of 2 minutes, but locating the directions of threading the string and the solution meant I had to go through over a dozen folders before I finally found it. Hopefully I won’t have that problem next time I go to use it as I have made sure it is in a couple of places haha! The “Solve The Puzzle” piece is actually a stamp, but unfortunately it seems the company who made this is no longer in existence.

The Detective on the front of the card is a digital image from Mo’s Digital Pencil, that I purchased while making this card.

C4C229SolvePuzzle3-wm

I have actually attached the “trick” panel piece onto the card using velcro, so that it might be easier for whoever gets to solve this puzzle, they can remove the panel to work on without having to hold the whole card.

C4C229SolvePuzzle-wm

For the inside of my card I used the Pop It Ups Lucy Label Pop-Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs. I also used the Agatha Edges die set and the label from the Lots of Pops Pop-Up card set.

Both sentiments were computer generated. I also found this fun crossword designer paper in a new paper pad I had decided to use for my card which I figured fitted in with the theme of this card too.

C4C229SolvePuzzle4-wm

At the top of my card I added a large magnifying glass which has acetate in the centre and added a few die cut question marks.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

    Owl Stand Up Card

    ECDOwlStandUp-wm

    Hi everyone,

It is my turn to post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today.

Those of you who know me know I love owls, so I was super excited when I discovered that Elizabeth Craft Designs had Owl Circle Peel-Off Stickers … yay! So I thought I would use one of the owls from the set to create my card to share with you all today. This is actually a “stand up card” using the Elizabeth Craft Design Stand Up Helper die set

    ECDOwlStandUp2-wm

Here is how I created my card:

    1. Cut a piece of double sided adhesive paper 3 inches  x 4inches. Remove the protective liner from one side of adhesive and set aside on your desk. Adhere the paper to a piece of card the stamp size. Use the largest circle accessory die from the Oval Accordion card die set to cut a circle from this card, cutting the circle to one side so you still have some scrap adhesive left.

    ECDOwlStandUp5-wm

    2. From the Owl Circle Peel-Off Sticker remove the bottom owl circle; the coordinating eyes and three leaves. Place these sticky side up onto the liner from the double sided adhesive paper that we set aside earlier. Carefully position the circle we cut over the owl circle. Use the left over approx. 1 inch x 3 inch piece of adhesive card to adhere the eyes and leaves.

    ECDOwlStandUp6-wm

    3. Apply Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to all peel-off pieces and rub in. You can see a video Els created using this technique here. Color images as desired, I colored my owl using pinks and reds so it would work with the colors of my designer papers. Use foam tape to adhere the second set of eyes over the eyes of the owl in the circle.

    4. Use the Circle Accordion Card page die to die cut a circle from red card. Layer the glittered owl image onto the red circle and set aside.

    5. Cut a piece of red card for the base of the card which is 4 3/4inches x 9 1/2. Use score board to score card along the 9 1/2 inch side at 2 3/8 inches and 4 3/4 inches. Fold card in half so it measures 4 3/4 inches square.

    6. Cut a piece of designer paper 4 1/2 inches square and adhere this to the front of folded card card you created in step 5. Now you can fold along the 2 3/8 inch score line also created in step 5.

    7. Cut a piece of designer paper 4 1/2 inches for the inside of the card. I also cut a piece of red card the same size and layered both pieces together so the base of my card didn’t have a hole in it and because I was using designer paper it strengthens the paper, but this is optional.

    8. Position the leaf from the Stand Up Helper die set approx. in the centre of the designer paper we cut in step 7 and run this through a die cutting machine. I wanted my leaf stand up helper to look more like a leaf and the other leaves on my card so I also cut a small piece of double side adhesive paper. placed this onto some white card and then die cut the leaf stand up die from the adhesive paper and then applied the glitter as I did in step 3 and colored my leaf to match the other leaves on my card. I then took a black outline pen to draw and outline around the edge of the leave and the center of the leaves and then adhered this over the red leaf I cut on the designer paper.

    9. Cut a thin strip of double sided adhesive paper, approx. 3/4 inch x 7 1/4 inches. Remove the liner from adhesive, set aside the liner and adhere the adhesive to a strip of white card. Remove an 18 inch strip of the ribbon strips from the Ribbon Swirls Peel-Off Stickers and place this sticky side up on the liner we removed previously. Apply Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to strip and rub into adhesive as previously done on other pieces. Cut the ribbon piece into two pieces one at approx. 4 3/4 inches. Color the 4 3/4 inch piece of ribbon blue and the other red. Adhere the blue piece to the edge of the designer paper we cut in step 8. Adhere this panel to the inside of your card.

    ECDOwlStandUp-wm

    10. Cut the red piece of ribbon sticker we created in step 9 in half and adhere each piece just below the bottom of the centre fold on the front of my card. (You could use a whole piece if you prefer but as most will be hidden by the owl you only need to add this to each side)

    11. Apply foam squares to the lower half of the owl circle and adhere that to the center of the front of the card. The top part of the owl will poke up over the fold when the card is place behind the leaf stand up helper.

    ECDOwlStandUp4-wm

    12. Use the “Happy Birthday” die and die cut this from black card about 5 times. Use glue build the layers up so you have a thick piece. Adhere the “Happy Birthday” so it is centered between the stand up helper and the blue ribbon strip on the inside of card.

    13. Finally adhere the leaves we created in step 1 to either side of the “Happy Birthday”

    ECDOwlStandUp3-wm

Here is my card closed ready to be placed in an envelope and mailed.

Here are the products I used to create my card:

Paper: White; Red; Fresh Prints DP – Stampin’ Up
Dies: Stand Up Helpers; Happy Birthday (783); Circle Accordion Card – Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other: Elizabeth Craft Designs Owl Circles Peel-Off Stickers; Elizabeth Craft Designs Ribbon Swirls Peel-Off Stickers; Elizabeth Craft Designs Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter; ECD Double Sided Adhesive Paper; Foam Tape; Copics
