Elizabeth Craft Designs October Designer Challenge

ECDWinterBirdTagwm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for our October Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge. Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog today at 8AM MST when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Our theme this month is create a project using the new Tags & More dies.

For my first project today I decided to create a Tag Card using the new Tags & More 2 Dies. To create this I used the tag die from the set and die cut two tags from red card and one from designer paper. I used the decorative overlay from the set on the tag cut from designer paper.

I then adhered the designer paper tag to one of the red tags. I scored about 1 inch down on the other red tag and adhered this top section of the tag to the other tag to form a folded card.

ECDWinterBirdTag2wm

I decorated my tag using the Winter Birds Circles (SKU 8546) Peel Off Sticker which had been attached to a card which had been layered with Double Sided Adhesive Paper and the applied Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and then colored with Copics.  This was added to the left side of my tag so part of the image was hanging off the side.

I used Red/Gold Glitter Dots which I added in a circle around the Winter Birds image.

At the bottom of the card I used the Merry Christmas Stand Up Helper which I have cut apart and added in to lines. I actually die cut three of the sentiments and layered them on top of each other to give a thicker look.

At the top of the tag I added a bow and button.

ECDWinterBirdTag3wm

Here is the inside of my tag card …. I added a sentiment using the Season’s Greetings Peel off Stickers. The holly is from the Winter Birds Peel off Stickers.

Paper: White; Red; Green; Holly Lane DP – Wild Rose Studio

Other ECD Products: Double Sided Adhesive Paper; Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter

ECDTreeTagwm

For my second project today I have created a card which I have added the Tags & More 1 to the front.

I have die cut the main tag die from designer paper and also red card. I then used the decorate overlay on the designer paper tag and adhered the designer paper tag over the red tag.

I die cut the snowdrift from the Outdoor Edges die set from white card/Double Sided Adhesive Paper and then applied Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the top of the die cut piece. This was then adhered to the bottom of the tag.

I die cut the Season’s Greetings Stand Up Helper from green card and added it to the bottom of the tag.

i added the 5 Part Pine which has been covered using Soft Green Silk Microfine Glitter. I added Red/Gold Glitter Dots and Gold/Silver Glitter Dots to the finished tree. Finally I added some ribbon to the top part of the tag and then layered it to a card.

I like to decorate the inside of my card while I am creating my card and this is what I did for the inside of this card.

Orange Butterfly

Orange-Butterflywm

Hi everyone,

Here is another card I made earlier this month at the craft show I was demoing at. Again this card didn’t start off to be a card, but just a piece of card showing how easy it was to create a pivot card, but as the days passed it slowly turned into a card by adding the accessory dies from the Butterfly Pivot set and also the Agatha Edges.

Orange-Butterfly2wm

Again the photos aren’t the greatest as they were taken using my iPhone … but it is better than not taking a photo I guess.

Orange-Butterfly3wm

And of course you know how much I love the backs of these pivot cards and this one is no exception.

Marriage

C&DWedAccord2wm

Hi everyone,

Earlier in the month my nephew got married. Of course I had to create a special card to give to him and his new bride and this is the card I created for them. I normally like to make my card using colors that match the colors they are using for the wedding and as their theme was black and white, I kept to those colors for my card.

As you can see I created an Accordion card using the Oval Accordion Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I alternated the pages of my accordion using both black and white and also using the Oval Flourish Frame Edges set to decorate each page.

C&DWedAccord4wm

For the first page in my card I used the Couple Die from Tattered Lace and then used one of my favorite Wedding sentiment from Paper Inspirations for the second page.

C&DWedAccord5wm

Here is a close up of the third and fourth pages of my book. The Love Die is from MFT Stamps and the sentiment on the last page is an old stamp from PSX.

C&DWedAccord3wm

I don’t normally decorate the back of most of the Accordion cards I create, unless it is for something special like this card is. I kept the first page blank so I could write my greeting to the Bride & Groom.

On the second and fourth pages I added the name of the Bride & Groom.

C&DWedAccordwm

Here is the front of my card when it is closed ready to be placed in it’s envelope or box. I added some flowers using Elizabeth Craft Designs Bunch of Flowers 2 and Black Velvet Adhesive Sheet.

C&DWedAccord6wm

As my card was rather bulky I decided to create a box for it. I used the Oval Flourish Frame Edges again around the edge of the box and then added the Florentine Bells from Tattered Lace in the centre.

C&DWedAccord7wm

And one last photo of my card this time in the box with the lid of the box on the side.

Stamps: Marriage Calligraphy – Paper Inspirations; Happy Wedding Day – PSX

The images used on my card are from the Halloween in Frame Peel Off Stickers which I have used with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

    Candle Ornament

    Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a project over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today.  My project today was inspired by the Quartet and Carousel style of cards I used to create many years ago. I originally had planned to create a card but during the creation process my card ended up being an ornament I can hang on my tree.
I love when a die can be used for more then what it is intended and love that the Katie Label Accordion Card die set (and the other Accordion Card Die sets)  can be used to create this style of card/ornament.

I have decorate my ornament/card so that it has a candle on each opposite side. On the other two remaining sides I have added the Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Greeting as per the photos above.
Here is how I created my card:

    1. Using the main die from the Katie Label Accordion Card, die cut 4 pages from Red card.
    2. Use a Score Board to find the centre of the page and score and fold each page in half.
    3. Use the Katie Holly Frame Edge dies to die cut 16 frame edges from Green card (8 of each size). Tip: Apply Double Sided Adhesive Paper to the back of the green card prior to die cutting to make it easier to apply to your card. Add frames around each of your 4 red pages.
    4. If you wish to turn your card into an ornament, it is a good idea to add your ribbon to the back of one of the pages now. Cut a 18 inch length of ribbon fold in half and secure to the back of the page, allowing for a loop at the top and some ribbon hanging down under the page.
    5. Add glue to one half of your folded pages and adhere this to the back of half of one of the other pages. Continue joining your pages until they are all joined.
    6. Die cut from white card 4 of the large labels from the Katie Label Accordion Card set. Fold each of the labels in half lengthwise as per photo above. Add foam tape to the back of each label and adhere too the folded card/ornament we have created.
    7. From the Candle Die set die cut the following: 4 pine boughs from Green card; 4 Holly leaves from Green card; 2 medium flames from Orange Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz; 2 large flames from Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz; 2 Flower Centres from Yellow Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz; 2 Flowers from Red card; 2 Candles from white card which has been covered with Double Sided Adhesive Sheet; 2 Candle Drips from white card which has been covered with Double Sided Adhesive Sheet.
    8. Remove the protective backing from the Candle and Candle Drips and cover with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Polish the glitter using your finger. Assemble Candle as per photo of main card, folding the main part of the candle in half.
    9. Create tabs for each of the candles by cutting card which measures 1/4 inch x 1/2 inch. Fold tabs in half and add 4 tabs to each of the candles at the top and bottom as per the photo above. Apply adhesive to each tab and use these tabs to secure the candles onto the white labels on the ornament/card.
    10. Die Cut from Green Card Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Adhere these to the remaining labels on your ornament/card.
    Thanks for stopping by today!

    Chilly Pop Up

    ChillyLotsofPop1wm

    Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I spend 4 days at our local craft show demoing using the Karen Burniston Pop It Ups dies for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Normally I don’t get to make complete cards at a show, but I was able to get a few done this time round.

    ChillyLotsofPop2wm

These cards weren’t really planned … I had die cut the pop up portion of the card to demo how easy it is to make pop up cards and then a while later I added a Penguin I had made to one of the pop up panels. A day later I added three more to the card and then turned it into a card.

    ChillyLotsofPop3wm

These photos aren’t the greatest as I forgot to take them home to take proper photos so had to rely on taking photos using my iPhone.

    ChillyLotsofPopwm
