Elizabeth Craft Designs August Designer Challenge

Hi everyone,

It's time for our August Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge. Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog today where you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

For our challenge this month the Designers were asked to create a 12x12 scrapbook page or layout.

I am a card maker not a scrapbooker, but of course I gave it a go :)

I don't really take a lot of photos, other than cards. But fortunately my daughters do and they are always photostreaming photos of my Grandchildren. After looking through the photos  they sent I decided upon creating a scrapbook page of my Grandson feeding the cows at our local Exhibition aka Ekka last year.

Here is a close up of the top half of my page. I used the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Fitted Frames 3 - Curvy Rectangles to frame the photos. These frames are such fun and can be used for both card making and scrapbooking. Before die cutting the frames I adhered some Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape 152mm to the back of yellow and blue card and then die cut. This gives you frame stickers which are easy to layer. If you have smaller photos it would be easy to add more layers if you wanted to.

Here is a close up of the bottom half of my page.

For my third photo I used the Fitted Frames 4 - Curvy Squares and kept to the same color combo as I did for the other two frames.

To create the green rolling hills I cut a piece of green card and then die cut the top of this using the Outdoor Edges die designed by Karen Burniston. It is easy to continue the die cutting of the rolling hills along the entire length of the page.

I cut two of the CountryScapes Country Fence dies designed by Susan's Garden from beige card. I then used the Red Iron Oxide and Black PanPastels from the PanPastel Flower Coloring Kit 1

I created two cows using the Brownie the Cow die set designed by Karen Burniston and added Black PanPastel to the cow to try to make it look like the cow my Grandson is feeding.

Finally I added EKKA and 2014 just above the rolling hills using the Alphabet 1 Caps and Numbers & More 1 die sets.

That's it from me today, thanks for visiting my blog. To see what the other designers created for this challenge don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog post which goes live 8AM MT.

Tag You’re It!

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  I finish off the month as challenge hostess with one last challenge.

Tag You’re It! – This week let’s use a Tag on whatever you create. It can be an individual tag or you can add the tag to your card/project you create.

For my card this week I have created a Trifold Tag Pivot card using the Tag Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I started with a piece of card which measures 5 1/2 inches x 12 inches and scored along the 12 inch side at 4 inches & 8 inches. I then die cut the Tag Pivot die on the 8 inch score line.

Along the bottom edge of the card I added grass using the Outdoor Edges die set.

To decorate my card I used two stamp sets from W Plus 9. The large balloon, animals and a few of the sentiments are from the Party Animal stamp set.

This is a view of the front of my card when it is all folded up ready to be placed in an envelope.

Here is a close up of the Pivot portion of my card. The smaller balloons and the sentiments in the large balloon are from W Plus 9's Unforgettable stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Happy Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I created for a friend of my who celebrated her birthday this month. As my friend loves poppies, I wanted to use the Susan's Garden Garden Notes Poppy die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

As you can see I created a Pivot Card using the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To decorate the edges of my card I used the Agatha Edges die set.

Here is the inside of my card, I added a poppy to each of the labels on the card.

I wanted to use the new "A Way with Word" dies for the sentiment and I wanted it to say Birthday in there. As the Happy Birthday sentiment would have been too big for this card I decided to cut two of the Happy Birthday sentiments and cut apart the Happy and Birthday. I used the Happy on the front of the card and the Birthday on the inside. I also used the Wishes from the Best Wishes die set.

After cutting apart the Happy from the birthday ... the "h" in the word birthday was a little messy, so I cut another "h" from the word wishes and added it to the word birthday ... it fitted perfectly.

Here is a look at my card from the back.

From Our Family to Yours

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As this months challenge hostess, I bring my final challenge for the month.

Apparently tomorrow is Bow Tie Day, so let's include some sort of bow on our cards this week … it doesn't have to be a Bow Tie as long as it is a bow.

As you can see, I didn't go with a bow tie for my challenge ... I decided to use a bow die I purchased a few years ago from Papertrey Ink and I added it to the front of my card so that it would resemble a present.

For the inside of my card I used the Merry Christmas Pop Up Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. To decorate the edges of my card, I used the Agatha Edges die set.

I have also used the new Merry & Bright Clear Stamp set to finish my sentiment.

Here is the side view of my card so you can see the pop up portion of the card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

A Christmas Wish

Hi all,

Today I am sharing a circle card I created using Crealies Modern Patchwork #1 die set. To decorate my card I used a stamp set from Stampendous.

As Circle cards are a little harder to keep standing I decided to use the new Card Stand/Easel from Elizabeth Craft Designs for my card to stand on.

Here is a side view of my card when the card is on the Card Stand/Easel.

And finally here is the inside of my card. I used two of the quarter circles from the die set to decorate the left hand side of the card and added a sentiment from Hero Arts.

Paper: White; Red
Dies: Large Circle Nestabilities - Spellbinders; Modern Patchwork #1 - Crealies; Card Stand/Easel - Elizabeth Craft Designs

You Can't Beat True Love

Hi everyone,

It's our Cornish Heritage Farms Design Team challenge time again over on the Cornish Heritage Farms blog. This time round our challenge is hosted by Steph!

Apparently today is Kiss and Make Up day, so for our challenge this week we are to create a love themed card

For my card I used Cornish Heritage Farms Domestic Love stamp set to create an Easel Card.

To create the circle part cut into the Easel Card, I used Tattered Lace's Half Circle die set.

Here is my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Teams blogs today to see what they created for this challenge.

Birthday

Hi all,

Today I am sharing a Vertical Stair Step card I created using some dies from Crealies ... this uses the Create a Card #10 die which created the steps on the right hand side of the card.

I added the word HAPPY on the step portion of the card.

I used Penny Black stamps to decorate my card.

Here is the front of my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. I used another Penny Black image, and finally used an embossing folder that I HAD to have probably sometime last year and then forgot all about hahahaha!

Stamps: Big Wish - Penny Black; Birthday Assortment - Stampendous
Paper: White; Red; Blue; Floral DP - Ruby Rocket
Dies: Create a Card 10 - Crealies; Alphabet 1 Caps - Elizabeth Craft Designs; Birthday Wonderful Words - Papertrey Ink; Circle Stax; Oval Stax; Fishtail Flags Stax - MFT Stamps

Oh Christmas Tree!

Hi everyone,
It’s my turn to share another Pop It Ups project with you over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.  With Christmas now being only 125 days away, I figured it was time to add another Christmas card to my stash. This card uses the Katie Label Pivot Card with the Christmas Trees from the new Christmas Tree Pop Stand Card set and the Paris Edges die set.
Here is how I created my card:

1. Score a piece of 12 x 12 designer paper at 6 inches. Adhere a piece of Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape to one of the 12 x 6 inch sides remove protection backing and fold designer paper so it is now 12 inches x 6 inches.
  • Trim card down so it measures 12 inches x 4 1/2 inches.
  • Score card at 6 inches, fold card closed and use bone folder to reinforce fold and then reopen.
  • Place the pivot die from the Katie Label Pivot Card die set so that the center nubs of the die are on the score line, closer to the top of the card. Run through die cutting machine.
  • Fold card so that the pivot part of the card folds the opposite way to the rest of the card.
2. From the Katie Label Pivot Card set die cut the following:
  • 2 x large labels from red card
  • 2 x second largest label from white card
Using the Merry & Bright Clear Stamp set stamp the “Merry Christmas” sentiment to one of the white labels and the “and Happy New Year” to the other white label.
  • Layer the white labels to the red labels and then adhere these to the pivot section of the card using foam tape.
3. Cut two pieces of card approx 2 inches x 5 1/4 inches. Position the decorative doily die from the Paris Edges set so that the bottom of the die is approx 1/2 inch from the edge. Die cut.
  • Place Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back portion of the 1/2 inch edge of the card and carefully adhere this to the right edge of the open pivot card, so that it is centred top and bottom and that the 1/2 edge of the die cut is level with the edge of the designer paper. Trim top & bottom edges of the die cut so it is level with the card.
  • Repeat this with other Paris Edges decorative doily on the left hand side of the card. Tip: Position the second one so it is level with the one already attached to the card and carefully close the card so that the cut out pieces of both die cuts match.
  • Adhere a Red/Gold Glitter Border Sticker so it covers the join where the designer paper and red card meet. Do this on all sides of your card (ie: front, two insides and back)
4. Using the Tree dies from the Christmas Trees Pop Stand Card set die cut 2 of each of the tree pieces from green card stock. Sponge around edges of trees using green ink.
  • Die cut 4 of the tree trunks using brown card.
  • Assembling the Trees: Note – these are assembled slightly differently to how Karen Burniston assembles the tree for the Pop Stand Card so that we can still achieve the 3D look on a solid surface.
  • Apply a thin strip of glue around the edge of the solid tree and adhere it to the tree with the tree shaped hole in the middle. Adhere the brown trunk over the green one on the outline tree. As per photo above.
  • Now take the two trees with the slots and thread the tree which only has slots at the top and the bottom through the middle slot of the other tree. You may need to bend one of the top slots of the first tree to do this.
  • Next thread one half of one of the 3D trees through the slot of the large tree. Turn the tree over to the back side and places some adhesive to one side of the half tree, fold this over and adhere it to the back of the tree.
  • Turn tree back over and fold the inner trees so that you have the middle  tree standing upright and the other two trees are sitting on either side of the tree.

5. Adhere the Christmas to the front of the card using foam tape.
  • Attach Red/Gold Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers randomly over the Christmas tree to resemble ornaments.
  • Cover a piece of white card with Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front. Use the star die from the Christmas Trees Pop Stand Card set and die cut star. Remove protective backing from adhesive and cover with Silver Silk Microfine Glitter, burnish glitter with your fingers and attach star to the top of the tree using foam tape.

  • Repeat the process with the second Christmas Tree and attach this to the right hand side of the inside of the card.

6. Using the two “inner” trees which were created when die cutting the largest of the trees, adhere these to the left hand side of the inside of the card, slightly overlapping the trees. Add the brown tree trucks to the bottom of each tree.
  • Decorate the trees using Red/Gold Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers.
Here is a look at the back of the card. One of the things I love about Pivot Cards is that no matter which way you view the card there is always something of interest to look at.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.

Just Flying By

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Being the challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

The 23rd August is Ride the Wind Day, for our challenge this week create a card that features something that relies on the wind eg kite, hot air balloon, pinwheel, sailboat, windmill, balloons etc.

For my card today I used a cute little mouse riding in a paper airplane ..... the more wind the longer it will stay in the air.

I created a Pivot Card using the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Here is a view of the back of my card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
