Eiffel Tower Day

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As the challenge hostess for the month I finish off the month with one last challenge.

According to the Days of the Year web site today is Eiffel Tower Day. So for our challenge this week let's celebrate all things Parisian …. It could be the Eiffel Tower, French Poodle; Berets; Champagne; Red, White & Blue Color Combo etc.

Of course I just had to grab my Eiffel Tower Pop Stand Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs to create my card this week.

To create the Eiffel Towers, I die cut them using Silver Shimmer Sheetz and then used alcohol inks to dab on the color I wanted my Eiffel Towers to be.

I added the Paris Edges decorative die to both edges of my card and then stamped the little French girl wearing a beret which I also added to each end.

I used the speech bubble from the Rectangle Accordion Card die set for the sentiment which is from the Just a Note Clear Stamp set.

Here is a look at my card from above so you can see the whole of the inside of the card.

For the front of my card I used the Paris Skyline die from MFT Stamps, my friend used this on a card she made me for my birthday which reminded me I had it and of course I wanted to play with it.

I also used the A Way with Words Merci which was die cut with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front of the word and then added Orange Silk Microfine Glitter over the adhesive.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Lighthouse

Hi everyone,

Today I have a tutorial on how to create the card above using products from Elizabeth Craft Designs. For my project today I used the Lighthouse and Shells from Joset Designs along with the Fitted and Stitched Ovals and Card Stand Easel from Els van de Burgt Studio.

When I was looking through the new Through the Lens Patterned Cardstock packs, this piece from the Stone series reminded me of waves crashing up against the sand/rocks ... if you look very closely you might see it too :) .

Here is how I created my card:

1. The Base of my card:
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut the fourth die from the Stitched Ovals die set using designer cardstock from the Through the Lens Stone 6 x 6 Patterned Cardstock.
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut the fifth die from the Fitted Ovals die set using Rust Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Counting from the small centre die, die cut the fifth die from the Stitched Ovals die set using Time for Teal Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Die cut the largest die from the Fitted Ovals die set, using White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Layer all pieces together as per photo above and set aside.

2. Using the Lighthouse die, die cut the following:

  • (1) Solid Lighthouse from White Soft Finish Cardstock
  • (1) Detail Lighthouse from Rich Black Soft Finish Cardstock
  • (1) Detail Lighthouse from Ladybug Red Soft Finish Cardstock
  • (1) Detail Lighthouse from Time for Teal Soft Finish Lighthouse
  • (1) Detail Lighthouse from White Soft Finish Cardstock
(Note for easier assembly apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of all the cardstock pieces BEFORE die cutting, except for the Solid Lighthouse.)

  • Remove the black outline only from the black die cut lighthouse and adhere this to the solid white lighthouse.
  • Referring to the photo above, remove the roof and red lighthouse wall panels from the red lighthouse and adhere them in the appropriate places.
  • Referring to the photo above, remove the base of the lighthouse & top section of lighthouse from the teal lighthouse and adhere them in the appropriate places.
  • Referring to the photo above, remove the remaining lighthouse wall panels from the white lighthouse and adhere them in the appropriate places.
  • Remove all the window pieces from the white lighthouse, color with a copic marker and adhere into place.
  • Attach lighthouse to oval panel using foam tape.
3. Using the Small Shells die set, die cut three of the solid and outline shells from White Soft Finish Cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back.
  • Adhere the outline shell to the appropriate solid shell.
  • Use ink and a blender tool to apply color to the shells.
  • Use foam tape to adhere shells around the base of lighthouse.
4. Using the Sun and Circle from the Rainbow Sky die set, die cut both pieces from Sunflower Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Add color to edge of each piece using a copic marker.
  • Adhere sun to oval panel using foam tape.

5. Die cut the Card Stand/Easel die from Rust Soft Finish Cardstock. Fold stand in half and use to sit oval panel on.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Butterfly Wishes

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As the challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

According to the Days of the Year web site the 26th March is Purple Day.  Purple Day is a celebration aimed at raising worldwide awareness of epilepsy, a condition that affects over 65 million people globally. For our challenge this week include the color purple in your creations.

For my card today I have used the Butterfly Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I used the A Way with Words - Hello Sentiment in the lower right hand corner to which I have added Lavender Silk Microfine Glitter. I have also offset the sentiment slightly with a lighter lavender card.

To decorate the butterfly panel I used the decorative butterflies included in the Butterfly Pivot Card die set. For the solid butterfly I added Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of the card before die cutting and then covered the adhesive with Lavender Silk Microfine Glitter.

The detail butterfly has been die cut using Purple Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz.

For the sentiment on the right hand side I used layering dies from the Katie Label Pivot Card die set.

Here is a look at the back of my card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As the challenge hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

As today is my birthday let's create a card that includes the things I love … owls and cards that pop up; flip or pull open; accordion style etc. Any type of construction style card will do anything goes but preferably not a flat card this week.

One of the newest style of Pop It Ups this year is the Hanging Charm Pull Tab Card designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I have been having so much fun playing with this die set that I decided to use it for my card today.

Heartfelt Creations released a new collection earlier in the year ... Sugar Hollow Collection which is all about Owls. When my local craft store got these I was the first to put them in my basket (they hadn't even made it to the shelves yet haha). So of course I decided to use those on my card. There are 6 sets in the collection, I have used images or sentiments from 4 of the stamp sets for this card.

Here is another view of my card at a different angle so you can see the pop up portion of the card in action.

Here is my card when it is closed ready to pop in an envelope. As you can see I also added the A Way with Words Happy Birthday 2 sentiment to the card .

Rather than use the frame that comes with the die set for the pop up piece I have used rectangles from the Stitched Rectangles & Fitted Rectangles die set to give me more room to fit my image.

And finally the back of my card .... of course I had to add another owl image from one of the other stamp sets and the sentiment from another set.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

What's Up?

Hi Everyone,

My card today is for a challenge I do with a couple of friends of mine. Each month we get together and go to our favorite stamp/scrapbook store and come home with one or two new goodies. So we decided to also challenge ourselves each month using a product we all have.

Last month the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs had arrived at the store, so my friends of course had to buy a die or two :) ... luckily I already had mine being on the Design Teams. So our challenge for this month was to use any of the ECD new release products.

For my card I decided to create a Pop Up Card using the Hot Air die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This die set comes with an optional single pop up die which allows you to make a pop up card.

I also used the new Pull Card Edges die set and the What's Up? Clear Stamp set. To stamp the sentiments I used the Stitched Circles die set from Els van de Burgt Studio.

Here is another look at the inside of my card, this time at a different angle so you can see the pop up portion of the card.

For the front of the card I used the Pull Card Edges die set again on my designer paper and the pink scallop edge. I also used the Stitched Circles again for my sentiment.

You, Me and Coffee

Hi everyone,

Today I am playing along with the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop which is being held from Saturday 18th March to Friday 25th March.

I decided to create a 'flat' card using the Cup Pop Stand Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

All the colored card is the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Soft Finish Cardstock which is now available in 36 fabulous colors.

I used the Stitched & Fitted Rectangles die sets to create my layers and for the Dark Chocolate layer I embossed the panel using the Coffee Bean Embossing Folder and then sanded the raised areas of the coffee beans. For the cup I die cut it from Rosebud Soft Finish Cardstock and then used the Coffee Stencil to add the white trim to the top of the cup.

The Spoon is die cut using Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz. For the sentiment I used the speech bubble from the Rectangle Accordion Card die set and stamped the word Coffee and the coffee beans both from the Coffee & Tea Clear Stamp set.

On the inside of my card I used the Coffee Stencil to sponge some coffee beans on the lower right hand corner of my card. I also added a sentiment using the stamps from the Coffee & Tea Clear Stamp set.

Stamps: Coffee & Tea Clear Stamp Set - designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs
Paper: White; Dark Chocolate; Café au Lait & Rosebud Soft Finish Card
Dies: Cup Pop Stand Card; Rectangle Accordion Card - designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs; Fitted Rectangles; Stitched Rectangles -  Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other ECD Products: Coffee Stencil; Coffee Embossing Folder; Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape; Silver Metallic Shimmer Sheetz
Other: Black Ink; Ground Espresso Distress Ink; Frayed Burlap Distress Ink; Picket Fence Distress Paint; Blending Tools; Foam Tape

Present Birthday

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created using the Oval Pull Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs

To decorate my card I used the Christmas Present die from Tonic Studio which was actually a Christmas present from one of my friends last Christmas.

I used the Pull Card Edges for the designer paper panels. On the left hand side of the card I added a decorative border using the Jewels 1 die set. I also added Pink/Silver Glitter Dots to the circle parts of the die cut.

This is the inside of my card when you pull the card open. I added a birthday sentiment to the oval part of the card. I also added one of the corners from the Corners 1 dies set and added more Glitter Dots to the circles.

Stamps: Yummy Treats - Hero Arts

Just for You

Hi everyone,

My card today uses one of the new stamp sets from Stampin' Up which a friend of mine managed to get for me recently.

I have used one of Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangle dies for the sentiment and then turned it on an angle and chopped off the overhanging part of the rectangle.

For the inside of the card I used one of the sentiments from the set and also added a piece of designer paper which I adhered to the card at an angle.

Stamps: Botanicals for You - Stampin' Up
Paper: White; Project Life Playful DP - American Crafts
Dies: Stitched Rectangles - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Other: Black Ink; Picked Raspberry Distress Ink; Peel Paint Distress Ink; Pearls; Fun Foam
