December 2016 Pop It Ups Designer Challenge #1

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our first Pop It Ups Designer Challenge for December. This time round our challenge was set by Summer Hills-Painter who gave us the theme ... "All I want for Christmas" - use your all-time favorite Pop it Ups die (the one you would want for Christmas if you didn't already own it) for a holiday card.

Now how do you pick your all-time favorite Pop It Ups die when you LOVE them all. So hard. In the end I decided to use the Twist Circle Pop Up die set to create the base of my card as you have a number of different options on what you can create with this card.

For my card I used the Twist Circle Pop Up and converted it into a Twist Circle Panel Card. You can find Karen tutorial on how to create this style of card here.

To decorate the panels I used Rudy the Reindeer the 1st and last panel, die cutting one of the reindeer from the back of the card so I could have the mirror image of the reindeer. I also had to do a little surgery on his antlers so that they wouldn't get stuck when open and closing the card.

For  the next panel I used the middle of the largest tree from the Christmas Trees Pop Stand Card die set and then stamped the sentiment from the Merry & Bright Clear Stamp set onto the tree.

For the final panel I added a sentiment from the Holiday Clear Stamp set and then die cut this using one of the labels from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set.

On the bottom part of the card I inlayed the Merry Christmas sentiment which is from the Merry Christmas Pop Up die set.

For the front of my card I added the Sleigh from the Sleigh Gift Card Holder Pop Up and also added some presents in the sleigh.

On the top right hand side of the card I added another sentiment from the Holiday Clear Stamp set and then die cut this using one of the labels from the Anita Frames Pop Up die set.

Here is a closer look at my card as it is starting to close.

And one final photo as it is closing. You can see how the panel accordion folds together in the closed position.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Craft Giraffe (now online only).

Don't forget to check out  Karen Burniston's blog  on Tuesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus an amazing card/video tutorial from Karen Burniston.
