White on White with a Pop of Color

Hi everyone,

Today I have an Easter Card with tutorial to share with you for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I love the look of white on white for cards. For a while now I have been meaning to create a background on a white card using white die cut pieces and then adding a pop of color. I finally decided to play!

Here's how I created my card:

1. Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock 100lb so it measures 5 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Score along the 8 1/2 inch side at 4 1/2 inches and fold. This will be the base to our card.

2. Using the second largest die from the Stitched Rectangles die set, die cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.

3. Using the Easter Eggs die set die cut the following:
  • (7) Medium Overlay Easter Egg with flower design from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (6) Medium Overlay Easter Egg with heart design from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (1) Large Overlay Easter Egg from black card
  • (1) Large Solid Easter Egg from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
  • (2) Grass from  from White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb.
Note: Adhere Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the back of all pieces of cardstock prior to die cutting. For the Grass and Large Solid Egg die cut the pieces so the adhesive is on the front of the card.

4.  Remove the protective backing from one of the medium Overlay Easter Egg  with the heart design and adhere it so that it is centred to the lower half of the card, close to the stitching.
  • Remove the protecting backing to two of the medium Overlay Easter Egg with the flower design and position them on either side of the first egg.

5. Remove the protective backing from another of the medium Overlay Easter Egg with flower design and adhere it to the top half of the card so that it is positioned between the two eggs on the bottom of the card. Refer to photo above for placement.
  • Continue adhering the Overlay Easter Eggs to the top part of the card as per photo above. Note two eggs will be overhanging the edges of the card, using scissors to trim flush to the card.

6. Cut two Overlay Easter Eggs with Flower Design and one Overlay Easter Egg with Heart Design in half. Set aside the top half of the eggs for the next step and use the bottom parts of the egg to adhere to the top of the card in the gaps between the top eggs. Refer to photo above for placement. Ensure to place the flower egg so it is in line with the flower egg at the bottom of the card and the heart egg with the heart egg etc.
  • Trim of any overhanging eggs so that they are flush with the edge of the card.

7.  Cut one Egg with heart design in half lengthwise and adhere these on either side of the eggs at the bottom of the card. Trim off any overhanging pieces.
  • Using the half eggs we cut in step 6 place them in the gaps between the eggs on the bottom of the card, trimming off any overhanging pieces. Note you will have to cut the top off one more egg to complete the bottom section of the card.
8. Place foam tape to the back of the Stitched Rectangle panel and adhere it to the front of the white card base.

9. Remove the protective backing from both the large Overlay Egg and large Solid Egg. Carefully layer the overlay onto the solid egg being careful not to touch the adhesive on the solid egg.
  • Cover the adhesive with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush excess off.
  • Color egg using Copic markers.
  • Place foam tape to the back of the egg and attach to the lower right hand side of card. Refer to photo at top for placement.
10. Remove the protective backing from both of the grass pieces and cover the adhesive with Soft Green Silk Microfine Glitter, polish glitter with your finger and brush off excess.
  • Use foam tape to adhere one of the grass pieces in front of the large egg. Cut the other grass piece in half and adhere to either side of egg.

11. The Inside of the Card:
  • Remove the protective backing from the remaining Overlay Egg and adhere it to the bottom right hand corner of the inside of the card.
12. Using the two smallest dies from the Stitched Rectangles die set, die cut two pieces of White Soft Finish Cardstock 85lb. Layer the small rectangle to the larger rectangle using foam tape. Adhere rectangles to the top left hand side of the card as per photo above.
  • Attach the "Happy Easter" sentiment from the Happy Easter Peel Off Stickers to the centre of the small rectangle.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.

Koala-ty Day!

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As the challenge hostess for the month I finish off the month with one last challenge.

The 26th January was Australia Day, as I live in the "land down under", lets celebrate with a Down Under Challenge. Create a card with something down under, it could be under the sea, or a tree or underground, under an umbrella or even from down under in the world.

Seeing I had a few new Australiana themed stamps/dies I hadn't used I decided to go with an Australiana them for my card today.

I created a Pull Card using the Rectangle Pull Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

To decorate my card I used Kraftin Kimmie Stamps Koala-ty Friend stamp set and some beautiful Australiana theme designer paper from Ultimate Crafts.

On the inside of the card I added another koala and a blank panel to handwrite a message  to someone. On the top left hand corner I added the word G'day on the speech bubble from the Rectangle Accordion Card die set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Enjoy Your Day

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being the challenge hostess for January I  finish off the month with one last challenge.

Who doesn't love chocolate cake! Did you know the even have a special day to celebrate this yummy treat! Chocolate Cake Day was the 27th January. Your cards this week should feature cake, bonus points if it is chocolate cake.

This week I have created another Explosion Pop Up Card using the new Cake Pop Up Cad die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. You can find out how to turn a pop up card into an Explosion Pop Up Card go check out Karen's video tutorial on how to create this card here.

I used one of the edges from the Pull Card Edges die set to create the brown decorative edge at the top and bottom of my card. Over the brown edge I added Pink Glitter Border Peel Off Stickers.

The sentiment is from the new  Just a Note Clear Stamp Set and is layered using one of the oval labels from the Oval Landscape Accordion die set.

Here is the front of my card, I used another of the sentiments from the  Just a Note Clear Stamp Set which are again layered using the oval labels from the Oval Landscape Accordion die set. The cake & fork are from Props 8,

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Happy Easter

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing an Easter card using the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Easter Egg die set designed by Joset Designs.

I know it is only the end of January, but Easter is early this year being at the end of March and if the grocery stores can have Hot Cross Buns for sale (since the 26th December I believe), then it is definitely not too early for Easter cards :)

The "Happy Easter" sentiment are Peel Off Stickers which I have attached to one of the dies from the Banner die set.

G'day!

G'day everyone and to all my Aussie readers ... Happy Australia Day!!!!!!

My card today is for a challenge I do with a couple of friends of mine. Each month we get together and go to our favorite stamp/scrapbook store and come home with one or two new goodies. So we decided to also challenge ourselves each month using a product we all have.

Being that last month was Christmas and we all gave stamps/dies etc to each other as Christmas gifts and some of us would also receive some from others, plus we all had to have something new in our stashes we hadn't use. We decided to have the theme for this month's challenge as NEW! It didn't matter what we used as long as there was something new on the card.

I guess I could select almost any card I have made even before Christmas as I have been busy playing with the new dies/stamps etc released earlier this month in the Karen Burniston, Joset Designs and Els van de Burgt Studio ranges for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I have also been playing with a few new stamps sets I purchased before Christmas.

Being that today is Australia Day, I decided to use some of the new Australiana dies which were release from Ultimate Crafts late last year. I know we all got some of those :) On the front of my card I used the Barbed Wire Fence and Gumtree.

For the base of my card I used the Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Here is a closer look at the left hand side of the inside of my card. I added the Water Tank and a bird. Along the bottom I added the Barbed Wire Fence and added G'day to the label above the fence.

And now a closer look at the right hand side of my card. I added the Windmill, the fence, and a sentiment from one of the Australiana stamp sets.

And finally the back of my card.

I used the Sizzix Circle Flip-Its Card Bigz Die for the base and decorated the card using the Sizzix Circles and Tags Framelits Set w/stamps

Here is my card when it is "flipped" open. I used more of the stamps and dies from the Circles and Tags Framelits Set w/stamps

Just a Note to Say

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As the challenge hostess for the month I continue to issue the challenges.

Apparently the 19th January was National Popcorn Day, so let's add some 'POP' to our cards be it by creating a card that includes the theme popcorn; creating a Pop Up Card; just Popping up your image using foam tape or just adding a Pop of color to a black & white card.

I guess it is no big surprise that I would chose to create a card where something "Pops" up. For  my card today the front piece of the card pops up to reveal a hidden message on the front.

I am loving this new die of Karen Burniston's the Hanging Charm Pull Tab Card, it can be used with the charms included in the die set or used with anything you want to use.

For my card I decided to use it with a couple of new Stamping Bella stamp sets I purchased prior to Christmas.

Here is a view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the tab which opens and closes the piece at the front to reveal the secret message.

This is how my card looks when it comes out of the envelope and it is closed. You then need to pull the tab where the ribbon is to make the frame pop up.

You could  put the Hanging Charm Pull Tab onto the front of a folded card, even inside a card or as I have done here I have kept mine flat.

On the back I have added a white piece of card and stamped the macarons again, so that I have somewhere to write a personal message when I am ready.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Flying By to Say

Hi everyone,
It's my turn to post a project on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today. For my card today I am using a few more of the new dies which were released earlier this month from the Els van de Burgt Studio and Joset Designs range of dies available from Elizabeth Craft Designs. There are so many fun ways to use the fitted and stitched basic shape dies which includes Squares; Rectangles; Circles and Ovals. I have also used the new Kites die set which is suitable for all ages.
Another thing that was released earlier this month was the new Through the Lens 6″ x 6″ Patterned Paper Packs which brings Els’ awesome photography to your creations. Today I am using one of the papers from the Stone Paper Pack.
Here’s how I created my card:
  1. Cut a piece of teal cardstock which measures 5 1/2 inches x 11 inches. Score this piece along the 11 inch side at 5 1/2 inches. Fold along the score line. This will be the card base.
  2. Using the largest die from the Stitched Squares die set, die cut the patterned paper from the Stone Through the Lens Patterned Paper Pack. Adhere this panel to the teal base card.
  3. Counting from the small centre die, die cut two of the fifth die from the Fitted Squares die set from teal card.
  4. Counting from the small centre die, die cut two of the fourth die from the Stitched Squares die set from White Soft Finish Cardstock.
  • Using a blending tool to apply brown ink around edges of each square.
  • Layers the white squares onto the teal squares.
5. Using the sentiment “Flying by to say” from the What’s Up? Clear Stamp set and black ink, stamp this  onto the lower part of one of the white squares. (Note: Temporarily position the squares onto your card before stamping to ensure the sentiment is not covered up with the top square after stamping).
6. Attach the square panel with the sentiment to the lower right hand corner of the card. Apply foam tape to the second square panel and attach it to the top left hand corner of the card, so that it overlaps the square panel on the bottom of the card.
7. Using the Kites die set die cut the following:
  • (2) Solid Kites from aqua cardstock.
  • (1) Solid Kite from light tan cardstock.
  • (1) Striped Kite from light tan cardstock,
  • (1) Striped Kite from aqua cardstock.
  • (1) Dotted Kite from aqua cardstock.
  • (3) Kite Tails from brown cardstock.
  • (3) Bows from teal cardstock.
  • (3) Bows from aqua cardstock.
  • (3) Bows from light tan cardstock.
(Note for easier assembly apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of all the cardstock pieces before die cutting, except for the Solid Kite pieces.)
  • Sponge around the edges of each of the kites using brown ink.
  • Assemble two of the kites to the white square on the top left hand corner of the card, using the photo above as a guide. (Note: the third kite will be reserved to decorate the inside of the card.
  • Attach Turquoise/Silver Glitter Dots to the centre of each of the bows.
8. Using tan cardstock die that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of it, cut 6 photo corners from the Corners 1 die set. Reserve two of the photo corners for the inside of the card. With the remaining photo corners, layer two together and adhere  one to the top right hand corner and the other to the bottom left hand corner of the card.

9. The inside of the card:
  • Using the largest die from the Stitched Squares die set die cut a piece of Soft White Cardstock 100lb. Use a blending tool to sponge around the edges of this panel. Adhere to the inside of the teal card.
  • Adhere the remaining two photo corners to the top right hand corner and bottom left hand corner of the card.
  • Assemble the remaining card to the left hand side of the card referring to the photo above as a guide.
  • Using the Happy Birthday die, die cut a piece of teal cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back and attach this to the card so it is centred on the right hand portion of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.
