June 2019 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends!!!

Welcome to our June Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... "BEACH DAY!" - celebrate the sea with a tropical card.

For my card today I used the Oval Frames Pop-up die set, I added designer paper to the background of both the front and inside of my card by using the largest rectangle from the Crosshatch Rectangles die set.

Along the bottom edge of each panel I added some sand, using the sand border from the Nature Edges die set.

I used the small stand along palm tree from the Palm Trees Pop-up die set which I placed on the right and left hand sides of the card.

The larger crab on the right hand side of the card is from the Ocean Animals die set and the smaller one is from Sea Animals die set. Each of the crabs are holding ice creams which are from the Sweet Treats Charms die set.

For the bucket and spade I used the Adirondack Chair Pop-up die set. The shells are all from the Tropical Scene die set.

For the Oval Frame section at the top of the card I added a stamped sentiment which is from Honey Bee Stamps Mermaid Song Clear Stamp set.

The sun & palm trees on the oval are again from the Tropical Scene die set. The clouds and bird (which is supposed to be a seagull for this card) are from the Outdoor Scene die set.

For the front of the card I added palms trees, using the small and large tree from the Palm Tree Pop-up die set. I again added the two crabs that I added to the inside but this time have them playing with a beach ball which is from the Beach Charms die set.

April 2019 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends!!!

Welcome to our April Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... "EASTER OR SPRING" - incorporate the Easter charms, Spring animals or Happy Spring into your project with an Easter or Spring theme.

For my card today I used the Oval Frames Pop-up die set, I added designer paper to the background of both the front and inside of my card by using the largest rectangle from the Crosshatch Rectangles die set. For the green panel along the bottom, I used one of the borders from the Border Blends - Party die set, die cutting the top of the patterned paper. I used the same die set to create the scallop etc from orange cardstock which I added along the top of the patterned paper.

To decorate my card I used the Easter Charms, Spring Animals & Garden Charms die sets.

I added a stamped sentiment to an oval on the bottom right hand side of my card.

For the front of the card I added an oval using the Crosshatch Ovals die set and added the "Happy Easter" sentiment from the Easter Charms die set as well as the basket of Easter Eggs from the Spring Animals die set.

Don't forget to visit Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Hedgehog Hugs

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Kathleen Adams.

Apparently today is Ground Hog Day!  If you don’t have an image of a ground hog then put any other ground critter on your card this week!

Apparently today is also Hedgehog Day, so for my card today I decided to go with a different type of 'hog' ..... a hedgehog.
Last year Kathleen Adams created a card for a challenge using this super cute hedgehog & cacti ... it is a digital stamp from The Paper Shelter. I loved it so much that I had to purchase the image, I printed it out and that is about as far as I went. It has been sitting in my 'to do' pile for a long time, so when I was thinking what ground animal I could use for this challenge .. and discovered it was also Hedgehog Day, of course I had to grab the images I had already printed.
I had planned on making this card but then a friend paid an unexpected visit, so we went to a local scrapbook store, while I was looking at the papers I spied this fun cacti paper which I thought would be perfect to use with this image.
To create my card I used Karen Burniston's Oval Frames Pop-up die set, which is one of the new die sets which has just being released.
The centre ovals of this card are normally a frame which peek through to the two centre ovals at the back .... I didn't think that looked as good for these particular images so I added the white ovals to the front of the centre ovals and added the hedgehog and cacti to these.
For the far left oval, I added the hugs sentiment from Karen Burniston's Word Set 9 - Love die set. The far right oval has a birthday sentiment from a Concord & 9th stamp set.
Along the lower edge on the left hand side I used the heart border from Karen Burniston's Border Blends - Argyle die set.. this die set is clever that you have options to make a variety of different borders other than the 3 obvious ones in the set. The small pink hearts are from the top of the stirrer from the Coffee Cup Pop-up die set.
The "Looking Sharp" sentiment is from the Sizzix Cacti Fold-a-long die set.
For the front of the card I used the ovals from the Crosshatch Ovals die set, to layer another hedgehog and cacti image. I also added the XOXO sentiment from the Word Set 9 - Love die set which is layered using the Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builders die set.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Have An Egg-Stra Special Day

Hi Crafty Friends,

Exciting news!!!! Karen Burniston will be releasing 18 brand new dies this month, you are going to love all the new pop-up, character and word dies being released. Pre ordering of the dies will start on the 21st January, so don't forget to come back here and I will have links in the supply list below if you are interested.

As you can see I have created an "Easter" themed card using the new Ovals Frames Pop-up die set ... this die set is so much fun and has lots of possibilities.

The two ovals in the centre of the card are popped up, for my card I have left them as windows so you can view the scene on the ovals behind those ovals. Can you see my cute Easter Egg trees on the back panels.

To decorate my card I have used the new Spring Animals die set, this die set contains this cute little chick, a rabbit, the egg the chick is sitting in on the left side of the card, two different sized eggs and a basket.

I added a border to the top and bottom of the card using Border Blends - Argyle die set.

To finish off the inside of the card I added a sentiment which is from a Gerda Steiner stamp set.

For the front of my card I used the ovals from the Crosshatch Ovals die sets for the sentiment and chick image.

The Happy Easter sentiment is from the Easter Charms die set.
