From Our Family To Yours

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have two Christmas themed Slimline cards to share with your today.

Back in October, Crafter's Companion were celebrating their 17th birthday. I happened to watch one of their Crafter's TV videos on the first day of the celebration, where they were showing everyone a special party bag they were selling. I don't normally buy grab type bags, but this seemed pretty good even with shipping to Australia that I checked it out and purchased the bag full of goodies. When my parcel arrived, I was more than happy with what I received. One of the dies was this From Our Family To Yours Edge'able die set. I was planning on putting this away for after I had made all my Christmas card, but then I thought that sentiment suited Christmas so got it out to play.

For this Slimline card, I used the width of a A4 card to determine the width of my card. This makes the most of my cardstock. I completed card is 8 1/4 inches x 4 inches.

I die cut the edge'ables die onto a olive green top folding card. I used patterned papers from Simply Made Crafts Holly Jolly 12 x 12 Paper Pad to decorate the card.

I added acetate behind the front panel so it was level with the base of the card.

I added patterned paper to the inside panel of my card, the bottom section of this paper can be seen when the card is closed.

I added a Christmas sentiment using Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Christmas Fun Sentiments stamp set.

I used different patterned papers for my cards, but they are both from the same pad. I paper pieced the letters to create the sentiment using red cardstock, which makes it easier to read.

To finish off the front of my card, I added the pointsettia and branches using two die sets from Divinity Designs ... Peaceful Poinsettias and Pinecone & Pine Branches die sets.

Here is a look at the inside of my second card I created.

Slim Merry Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created recently.

For the background of my card I used Creative Craft Products Festive Bold Words - Winter Wishes die set.   I die cut the panel from a pale green pearlescent cardstock and paper pieces the trees, stars & dots using glitter and gold mirror cardstock. My finished card measures approximately 8 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

For the sentiment I used Waffle Flower Crafts Merry Christmas Duo Hot Foil Plate and coordinating die. I foiled the sentiment using gold foil onto red cardstock.

For the inside of my card I used Picket Fence Studios' Slim Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Word Topper die.

Christmas Bells Are Ringing

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Trifold Card I created recently using Honeycomb papers and dies from Creative Craft Products.

For this card I used the Honeycomb Christmas Bell die set to create the honeycomb bell on the left side of the card. For this card I placed the honeycomb inside the card. The honeycomb flattens when you close the card, so it is easy to mail this card.

For the sentiment on the right side of the card, I computer generated a sentiment with a Christmas bell theme. I used Creative Craft Products Inverted Scallops Ovals and Filigree Ovals die sets for the layers.

For the front of the card, I stamped a Christmas sentiment using an older stamp set from my stash. The sentiment was layered using the same oval dies I used on the inside of my card.

I added the red bow which is die cut using the bow from the Honeycomb Christmas Bell die set.

I added a white panel to the back of the card so that a personal greeting can be written here.

Warm Wishes

  Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

For our challenge this week, Maryann tells us ... What ever the season it is great to get away, celebrate the day with a seaside holiday.

Right now I am in Christmas card making mode, the majority of my cards between now and Christmas will be Christmas themed where possible.  So when I was thinking about the beach I was thinking how I can adapt this for Christmas. Living where I do in Australia, we don't get snow and of course it is summer for us at Christmas time. I love snowmen, but of course the closest we get to snowmen here is either a bucket of water with some bits floating in it, or a sand version. So I decided to create sand snowmen or sandmen I guess they are.

As you can see I created a Centre Step Card using Divinity Designs Centre Step with Layers die set. For the background and sand for the bottom of the card and sandmen, I used the Beautiful Beaches patterned paper also from Divinity Designs.

To decorate my card I created two palm trees using an older palm tree die set from MFT Stamps, I added Christmas lights to the trunk using a Christmas light die also from MFT Stamps.

The sandmen or sand snowmen were created using Karen Burniston's Snowman die set.

I added a sun using a circle die to the top left corner of the centre panel and added some seagulls using an older Couture Creations die set.

Finally I added a sentiment to the bottom right using Waffle Flower Crafts Merry Christmas duo stamp/die set.

For the inside of the card, I added a white panel, adding sand to the bottom of the panel.

I used the Hot Foil plate that coordinates with the Merry Christmas Duo set to create the foiled sentiment, using the Solid Foil Plate so I could use the negative image of the sentiment. I also added the "Happy New Year" sentiment underneath.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Santa and Friends Gift Tags

Hi Crafty Friends,

Now that it is only a month until Christmas, I need to start thinking about gift tags. Last year I decorated my Christmas Crackers with a few of these toppers. I rescued three which I found a little while ago, so decided to turn them into gift tags and while I was at it make a few more. I ended up making two of each of the Christmas Characters.

I already had two of the snowmen and an elf, all I had to do with those was replace the scallop panel and stamp the back of the tags.

The characters used on the tags are from last years Hero Arts November My Monthly Hero set,  I just feel in love with these dies and knew I would get lots of use out them over the years.

I used the striped stamp included in the coordinating stamp set for the reindeers scarf. The wording on the back of each of the tags is also from the same stamp set.

I added glossy accents to the reindeers nose and also to the berries on the holly that is on Santa's and the snowman's hats.

The oval tags were die cut using two older Spellbinders die sets I have had in my stash for years.

I used the dot stamp included in the coordinating stamp set to add the dots to the snowmen's scarves.

Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's now just over a month until Christmas Day, so pretty much most of my blog posts from now until Christmas will be Christmas related. For my card today I have created a Double Z Fold Card using a Crafter's Companion stamp/die set called Christmas Eve.

For this card I pretty much took my inspiration from the packaging of the dies to create my Double Z Fold Card.

For my night sky background, I used papers from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Card kit that was included in the Papercraft Essentials Issue 217, I still hadn't received my magazine when I made this but as I had downloaded the papers I was able to print them out.

I die cut all the buildings from black cardstock and then covered the windows with yellow cardstock. For those buildings that could be seen from the back, I coloured over the back of the yellow card with a black marker. It looks so much nicer doing this then seeing yellow on the back.

I cut the front "Z" panel from black cardstock and attached this to the card. I then added two levels of buildings onto this panel. The top one I glued flat and the one along the very bottom using foam tape. I also added buildings along the back of the card as well. The die set, comes with a die to die cut bridge pieces for the inner square, so I die cut two of these and added more buildings to this.

To finish off the front of the card, I added the moon to the right panel and then added Santa & his sleigh. I stamped the Santa image on a piece of patterned paper leftover from doing the background so that the image worked with the night sky.

I also added a sentiment from an older Bebunni stamp set.

I added a panel to the back of my card so I could add a sentiment. For this I used Picket Fence Studios' Slim Line Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Word Topper. As this had the trees on either side of the sentiment I figured this worked well with the Crafter's Companion set. I added the sentiment along the bottom of the card and then stamped Santa at the top.

The card folds flat and measures approximately 5 1/2 inches x 5 3/4 inches, it does have a bit of bulk to it, so if you are hand delivery should fit in a 6 x 6 envelope. If posting it will probably need a padded or box envelope.

HB2U Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a birthday themed Slimline Pop-up card to share with you today.

To create the background for my card I used Picket Fence Studios' Slimline Plumeria Stencil using Catherine Pooler inks in the following colours: Samba; Mandarin Spice; Glitz; Lime Rickey and Aquatini. I then used the two larger dies from Spellbinders Hemstitch Slimline die set to die cut the panel before adding it to a side folding 3 1/2 inch x 8 1/2 inch card.

I used Picket Fence Studios' HB2U die which I die cut from black cardstock and added to the front of the card. Finally I added the "You're How Old?" sentiment which is from MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Sentiments stamp set.

For the inside of my card, I used the Picket Fence Studios stencil once again to add the strips to the edges of my card.

For the pop up I used Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set to add the two pop up panels.

The sentiment at the top of the card is from a Spellbinders stamp set, the second one is from Honey Bee Stamps.

Stacked Merry Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a Christmas themed Slimline card to share with you today.

Recently Uniquely Creative released the Slim Stacked Merry Christmas die, as it was a Slimline sentiment and I haven't seen anything else like this around I just had to add it to my stash. This die makes it really easy to make Slimline Christmas cards, you don't need much else.

I die cut the sentiment from white Centura Pearl cardstock and also gold glitter cardstock. I layered the pearl card over the glitter card, offsetting slightly. I added the solid gold glitter stars over the empty stars on the card. I also die cut a few more stars from pink cardstock that I had covered with Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

For the inside of my card, I added a strip of the patterned paper that I used on the front to the right edge of the card. I also added a sliver of gold cardstock.

I stamped a Divinity Designs Christmas sentiment to the centre of the card.

Merry Christmas Puddin'

Hi Crafty Friends,

A few years ago, Sam Calcott released a set that featured the mechanism for pull cards in both 5 x 7 and 6 x 6 format along with Christmas themed stamps/dies that featured images like an Elf, Santa, Christmas Pudding, Chimney etc. Unfortunately other than getting the stamps in digital format, the rest of the set are no longer available. I was able to purchase the pull card die set a few months back which was rereleased as a set called Everyday Pop-ups, but I couldn't find the dies to create the pudding etc and I so wanted to create those card. Well joy of joys in the Papercraft Essentials Magazine Issue 217, the kit included in this magazine were of these images. Of course I ordered it ... at the time of making this card mine is somewhere ... who knows where, I know the parcel arrived in Australia according to tracking but it hasn't arrived here yet. Fingers crossed it does, so I decided to buy the digital version of the magazine so I could at least print out the images and play.

As I have the Pull Card dies in the Everyday Pop-up die set, I decided not to use the template included in the kit for that portion of the card. The dies are slightly larger than the template, but it was easy enough to cut the square done once I had die cut the mechanism.

I used one of the papers included in the kit along with the pudding and elf images to create my card.

Here you can see my card, with the "Pull Tab" fully extended which reveals the cute elf. I used the Made to Surprise by Sam Calcott's Push Me Pull Me Stamp set to add the word "pull" to the top of the tab.

For the inside of my card, I added another of the elf images and also a gift image. I added the sentiment which is from the Christmas Fun stamp set.
