Winter Wishes

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Anne Harmon our challenge hostess for the month finishes off her month with one last  challenge.

Monochromatic and die cuts - this week we are to create a monochromatic card (one color) using only die cuts.

Today is officially the last day of Winter for those of us down under! So for my card today I decided to create a White on White card with a winter theme. I have used white cardstock; Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz to that I would have various whites in my card.

To decorate my card I have used the new Becky Seddon Reindeer die set which was released earlier this month by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also found a 6 x 6 embossing folder of tree trunks which I was able to use for the back panel of my pop up card. I added three of the large tree trunks from the die set to add texture and depth.

To create the pop up card I used Elizabeth Craft Designs new General Pop Ups die set which has a number of basic pop up dies in different widths & lengths. For this card I added two.

The sentiment on the base uses the A Way with Words - Let it Snow die set die cut from Shimmer Sheetz and layered onto the small oval from the Entwined Circles die set. I also added Transparent/Silver Glitter Dots Peel off Stickers to the snowflakes for extra sparkle.

Here is another view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up part of the card a little better.

I kept the front of my card fairly simple seeing the focus of this card will be on the inside. I added the embossed background again, along with the glittered snowbanks. For the sentiment I used A Way with Words - 4 Seasons for the "Winter" sentiment which was die cut using Shimmer Sheetz. I added the "Wishes" which is from the Best Wishes sentiment die.

    Noel Snowglobe

    Hi Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing a card I created using Becky Seddon's Snowglobe Scene die set available from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I love shaped cards and this die set is perfect to use on its own to create a shaped card or you could add it to a card if you wanted.

As you can see I have kept in traditional Christmas colors.

For the inside of the card I added a sentiment from the new Holiday Cheer Clear Stamp set.

To turn the snowglobe into a stand alone card. I die cut another snowglobe in red. Scored about 1 inch down from the top and adhere this part to the back of the snowglobe.

    All is Calm

    Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another Christmas card using some of the new dies released this month from Elizabeth Craft Designs. The candle is one of the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs newest licensed designer Becky Seddon and is called Festive Glow.

To create the candle I die cut the decorative overlay layer using White Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz. I used Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the base layer of the candle.

After assembling the candle, I adhered it to the lower right hand corner of the card using foam tape.

To the top left hand corner of my card I added the "All is Calm ..." sentiment from the Holiday Cheer Clear Stamp set to a piece of red cardstock and gold embossed it. I then die cut the sentiment using one of the label dies from the Labels 1 die set.

For the inside of my card I added the A Way with Words - Merry Christmas 2 to the upper section of the card.

    You Color My World

    Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Raquel Mason our challenge hostess for the month finishes off her month with one last challenge.

Back to School - All the summer fun has come to an end for teachers and students. Let's make a card to help cheer someone up, any cheerful theme or image will do.

I decided to take the opportunity to create a teacher thank you card. I need a few for my grandchildren's teachers for the end of year.
I have seen lots of rainbows around the place lately so I decided to also create a rainbow card. I started by using a border from My Favorite Things, my Stampers Anonymous Stamping Platform and Distress Oxide inks to create my background in rainbow order.
I have been wanting to use my old Pop 'N Cuts dies a little bit more, so I also pulled out the Thanks insert and the Square with Ornate Edge die to create the pop up part of my card. I tried a few ways to add the letters "Thanks"  to the top of the pop up which I didn't like until I decided to use the same inks as I had for the background to create the rainbow "thanks" ... much better.
I added the sentiment and crayons from Lawn Fawn's Color My World stamp set.

Here is another look at the inside of my card, taken at a different angle so you can see the pop up part of the card a little better.

For the front of my card I added another rainbow background that I created with the border stamp and added the #1 teacher from Papertrey Ink and a few more crayons.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Stamps: LLD Border It Mod Borders - MFT Stamps; Color My World - Lawn Fawn
    Paper: White; Black; Red; Yellow

    Snowflakes

    Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a sparkly Christmas card I created using some new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. These dies were designed by a new licensed designer Becky Seddon, you are  going to love her new range of dies.

Here is how I created the card:

    Step 1
    • Cover a piece of white cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Die cut the card using one of the squares from the Stitched Squares dies set.
    • Die cut the two smaller snowflakes in the Becky Seddon Snowflakes die set a number of times from some scrap adhesive tape release sheet to use as stencils.
    • Remove the release sheet from the square  cardstock and then place the snowflakes onto the adhesive in an interesting pattern. (Tip: once you have added the snowflake stencils, cover the adhesive with the release sheet you took off the adhesive and rubber all over the card with either a brayer or bone folder to ensure the stencils are attached to the adhesive).
    • Cover the exposed adhesive with Silver Silk Microfine Glitter. Brush off the excess and return to the jar and polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger.
    • Carefully remove the snowflake stencils and cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.  Return any excess glitter to the jar and polish the glitter into the adhesive using your finger.
    Step 2
    • Cut a square from white cardstock using the Dotted Scallop Squares. Layer the glittered panel onto the Dotted Scallop Square.
    • Adhere layers onto a folded silver base card which is 5 3/8 inches square.

    Step 3
    • Cover a piece of cardstock with Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape. Die cut the three snowflakes from the Snowflakes die set so that the adhesive is on the front of the die cut.
    • Use Silver Silk Microfine Glitter to cover the middle sized snowflake and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to cover the other two snowflakes. (Don't forget to polish the glitter using your finger to get maximum shine)
    • Layer the snowflakes together using foam tape in between each layer.
    • Optional - I added a tiny snowflake from the Reindeer die set to the centre of my snowflake stack which I covered with silver glitter.
    • Add a Transparent/Silver Glitter Dots Peel off Sticker to the centre of the snowflake
    Step 4
    • Die cut a circle using the Dotted Scallop Circles from White Soft Finish Cardstock and adhere to centre of card using foam tape.
    • Add the stacked snowflake to the centre of the card.

Step 5 - Inside of Card
    • Die cut a square from White Soft Finish Cardstock using the Dotted Scallop Squares.
    • Using VersaMark ink stamp the "All is calm ..." sentiment from the Holiday Cheer Clear Stamp set to the centre of the card and cover with silver embossing powder and heat set.
    • Die cut two more of the smallest snowflake from the Snowflakes die set and glitter using Silver and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Add to card using photo above as a guide.

    Jump for Joy

    Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Anne Harmon our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is ... Water color. Make a background using water colors, then finish the card in whatever way you wish.

For the water color part of the challenge, I decided to stamp a large leaves background stamp onto water color paper using VersaMark ink and adding white embossing powder. I then used various autumn/fall distress inks to randomly water color the piece before setting aside to dry.

For my card today I have created a Magic Color Slider Card using the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider Card die set. I have also used the Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy stamp set to create an autumn/fall themed card.

When you pull the tab, it starts to reveal the magic ... which is the color appearing under the tab.

To decorate my card I have also added grass along the bottom of the card, using the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders die set, and added a few more leaves.

And finally the whole colorful scene is revealed. I added the "Pull Here" and arrow to the tab using the Push Here stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a birthday sentiment and a few more of the cute images from the stamp set.

In The Meadow We Can Build a Snowman

    Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another Christmas card using a few of the new die sets from Karen Burniston. This time around I wanted to play with the floating floor die which is included in the House & Fence Pop Up Card die set. I have done floating floors in the past but they were fiddly, but having the die makes them soooooooo easy!

As you can see I have decorated my floating floor using the snowman from the Snowman die set. This snowman is basically the same as the snowman in the Snowman Twist Circle Card die set, the only difference is the body. This set was released for those who had the older Twist Circle Card Pop it Ups die set who wanted the snowman.

Having both sets is handing when you are wanting to make more than one snowman like I have for my card as I was able to die cut two at a time.

I used the Katherine Label Pop-up die set for the label and added a sentiment.

Here is another look at the inside of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the floating floor a little better.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple seeing the focus of this card is the inside. I just added a sentiment using the Word Set 3 - Holidays die set which has been layered onto labels from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set.

    Supplies:

    Stamps: Frosty - Paper Pretties
Paper: White; Red; Green; Letter to Santa Paper Pack - Docrafts/Papermania
Dies: House & Fence Pop Up Card; Katherine Label Pop Up Card; Snowman; Words Set 3 - Holiday

    Make a Wish Birthday Card

    Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a tutorial on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. As most of you know I love pop up cards, so was super excited when I found out that we were getting a set of general pop up dies to create all sorts of fun pop up cards. Today I have created a pop up card using the new General Pop Ups die set along with a couple of other new dies which are being released this month to create a birthday card. I don't know about you but I can never make too many birthday cards.

Here is how I created my card:

    Step 1 -
    • Using the ModaScrap Color of Puppies Boy 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Pack, cut a piece of the striped paper so that it is 5 inches x 10 inches.
    • Score and fold along the centre of the paper and place the pop up die so that the centre nubs of the die are lined up with the score line and centred on that line.
    • Run through die cutting machine.

    • Pop both sections of the pop up up so it looks like the photo above.
    Step 2 -
Using the Birthday Candle die set, die cut the following:
    • (10) Solid Candles from white cardstock
    • (10) Decorative Layer Candles using red, teal, green and orange cardstock which has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the back. (The Striped, Diagonal Strip, Circle and Confetti Candles used for this card)
    • Remove protective backing from the colored candles and adhere onto a white solid candle.
    • Set 4 candles aside for front of card.
    • Cut a piece of teal cardstock that measures 5 /14 x 10 1/2 inches. Score and fold at 5 1/4 inches to create a 5 1/4 inch square top folding card.
    • Apply adhesive to the pop up insert being careful not to get adhesive near the pop up panel and adhere to the inside of teal card. (Tip - carefully line up one side of the pop up insert on the inside of card and adhere that down before adhering the other half).
    • Place Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of both of the pop up panels and adhere two candles to the top pop up tab and four to the front pop up tab. Refer to photo above for placement.

    Step 3 -
    • Cut two pieces of green patterned paper (also from the ModaScrap Color of Puppies Boy Patterned Paper Pack) so they measure 5 inches x 2 inches.
    • Cut two dark green strips of cardstock approx 5 inches x 1/2 inch. Adhere the strip under the patterned paper so just a small about shows from the front of the paper.
    • Adhere these panels to the top and bottom of the inner card (refer to photo above).

    Step 4 -
    • Using the "Happy Birthday to You" sentiment from the Birthday Sentiments Clear Stamp set, stamp onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using black ink.
    • Die cut sentiment using coordinating die from the Labels 1 die set.
    • Die cut a piece of teal cardstock using the same die  and cut in half (refer to photo above)
    • Layer the two half die cut pieces under the sentiment panel so you have a slight edge at the top and bottom of the sentiment.
    • Adhere sentiment to inside of card so it overlaps both patterned papers.

    Step 5 -
    • Using the Celebration Flags die set, die cut two of the star banners from dark teal cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front.
    • Remove protective backing from the banners and cover adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter. Return excess glitter to the jar and polish the glitter into the adhesive with your finger.
    • Add a Transparent/Gold Glitter Dot Peel-Off Sticker to the centre of each star.
    • Adhere banners to the top and bottom edges of card.

Step 6 - Front of Card:
    • Cut the a piece of Striped Patterned Paper so it measures 5 inches square. Adhere to the front of card.
    • Cut a piece of Green Patterned Paper so it measures 5 inches x 2 inches.
    • Cut a dark green strip of cardstock approx 5 inches x 1/2 inch. Adhere the strip under the patterned paper so just a small about shows from the front of the paper.
    • Layer the green panel to bottom of card.
    Step 7 -
    • Using the "Make a Wish" sentiment from the Birthday Sentiments Clear Stamp set, stamp onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using black ink.
    • Color Stars as desired.
    • Die cut sentiment using coordinating die from Labels 1 die set.
    • Die cut a piece of teal cardstock using the same die  and cut in half
    • Layer the two half die cut pieces under the sentiment panel so you have a slight edge at the top and bottom of the sentiment. (refer to step 4 )
    • Optional - cut a second teal die cut piece and cut in the opposite direction and layer under white label so the card is edged on all sides.
    • Adhere sentiment to card referring to card above for placement.
    Step 8 -
    • Using foam tape adhere the candles set aside in step 2 to card, so that two are on either side of sentiment.
    Step 9 -
    • Using the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Banner Sentiments Clear Stamp set, stamp onto White Soft Finish Cardstock using black ink.
    • Die cut sentiment using coordinating die from the Banners die set.
    • Fold die cut on score lines to create a banner and adhere to the bottom of card using foam tape.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial
