Penguin Kisses

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

Penguins - Apparently the 25th April was World Penguin Day ... feature penguins on your cards this week. Don't have penguins, then create a black and white card.

Recently I came across a fun new style of card while browsing on Facebook that was created by Anna Blankina. Anna posted the directions and a video over on To be able to find the tutorial you will first need to join Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends! Facebook Group. I am always looking for something different to create, so I decided to use that idea for my card today.

Edit: A few people have been asking for the tutorial and have had difficulty finding it. To be able to find the tutorial you will first need to join Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends! Facebook Group. Once you have done this, go to video and in the search box put in the name Anna Blankina. The video tutorial is dated 29th March and is over 1 hour long. (Please note that I live in Australia, so the date I see may vary by a day to those of you living in the Northern Hemisphere, but if you can see something around that time you should find it.

I had planned on using different penguins for this challenge, but after assembling this card using the bright rainbow patterned paper, I decided I needed something that might be a little more birthday/party related. After looking through my penguin stamps I decided to use an older Stampendous stamp set called Merry Muffins.

As I wanted to have a penguin on the two outer panels I needed to create a mirror image of the penguin/cupcake for the right hand panel. To create the mirror image I used my new Waffle Flower Mixed Media Mat which makes it so much easier to create a mirror image. I have only had this mat for less then a month and I have already used it twice to create a mirror image. Of course it is also fantastic to use when sponging ink onto cardstock.

I added stars around the card using the three star dies from Karen Burniston's Surprise Ball Pop-up die set.

For the sentiment in the centre panel I used a sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps stamp set and the Happy Birthday sentiment from MFT Stamps.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Hello, Hi, Hey There

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing four cards I created recently using Alcohol inks and the new Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Air Blower. Of course when you pull out the alcohol ink, it's hard to just create one background. I really love the air blower which makes it so much easier to move the inks around on the Yupo paper. So after playing with different colors I had to use them all to make up four cards.

For my first card I used alcohol inks in Dandelion, Sunset Orange and Watermelon.  I trimmed the panel to fit the bottom portion of a card and then used Crafter's Companion's Hello Edge'abilities die set for the sentiment at the top of the card.

I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Leafy Branch 6 Wheat to add something over the alcohol inked background.

For my second card I used alcohol inks in Citrus; Lettuce; Mermaid; Juniper. I then used one of the border dies from MFT stamps Stitched Scallop Basic Edge to create a fancy border at the bottom of the panel.

I added a "hello" sentiment which is from The Stamp Market. The stamped sentiment is from a Hello stamp set from Paper Rose Studio.

I die cut two dragonflies using Elizabeth Craft Designs Dragonflies die set.

For my third card I used alcohol inks in Aquamarine; Juniper; Pool; Pistachio.

I added a large "Hi" die from The Stamp Market and also added the stamped sentiment which is from Altenew's Hello and Hugs stamp set.

For my final card I used alcohol inks in Pink Sherbet; Coral; Flamingo; Wild Plum. I used another of the border dies from MFT Stamps Stitched Scallop Basic Edge die set to die cut the fancy edge at the bottom of the alcohol inked panel.

I added the "Hey There" sentiment using the Fabulous Phrases die set from Concord and 9th.

For the inside of all of my cards I used a sentiment from Concord & 9th's Retro Petals Turnabout stamp set.

Hello

Hi Crafty Friends,

Last year when I attended our local craft show, one of the retailers selling that day had Honey Bee Stamps Gather Together at a price too good to ignore, so of course I added it to my stash.

I have finally gotten around to playing with this stamp set, it has this large gathering of animals. Of course no one told them they were supposed to social distance!

I decided to create a Centre Step Card using Divinity Designs Centre Step Card with Layers die set.

I added a grass border along the bottom of the card using Lawn Fawn's Grassy Hillside Border die set.

I added the "Hello" sentiment to the top left of the centre panel, die cutting the sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builder die set.

For the inside of the card I added another of the sentiments, with families being unable to see each other at the moment due to us all having to self isolate, I thought it would be fun to use this sentiment from the stamp set.

Oh My Whiskers Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another Slimline card I created recently.

I used Trinity Stamps Stitched Card Panels and Windows die set and the Scalloped Card Panels die set to create the Slimline portion of the card.

I used Lawn Fawn's Grassy Hillside Stencil to create the grass along the bottom of the main card panel using Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron & Mowed Grass.  For the clouds I used MFT Stamps Mini Cloud Stencil using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.

The cat images are from Honey Bee Stamps Oh My Whiskers stamp set. This stamp set has so many fun cat images, I have used this a few times already since I received this stamp set.

For the inside of the card I again added some grass using the Lawn Fawn grass stencil and added two more of the cat  images from the set.

For the sentiment I used one of the sentiments from the Purrrfect Sentiments stamp set, die cutting using the Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builder die set.

Happy Birthday Princess

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Our challenge hostess Nicky Foden finishes off the month with one last challenge.

According to the Days of the Year Calendar, April 25th is Save the Frogs Day. So for our challenge this week we are to create a card that features a frog.

For my card today I used two products which I have been wanting to play with for a while now to create a fun shaped card.

First up I used Hero Arts Paper Layering Castle which I purchase last year. I decided to use this to create a side folding card by using the outline die in the die set to die cut a folded white card so that the left side of the die slightly overhangs the cardstock so it didn't cut through this area.

I then used both of the dies together to die cut the castle again from White Pearlescent Cardstock layering this to a lavender castle.

I die cut the top portion of the castle from dark purple card and used this to add some color to the top of the castle.

I added some grass along the bottom of the card.

I stamped the princess, frog and carriage using stamps from Sunny Studio Stamps Enchanted stamp set.

I added some more grass on the right hand panel of the inside of the card using Hello Bluebird's Ocean Scene die set.

I used the other princess and knight to this panel.

Finally I added a sentiment using the "princess" sentiment from the Enchanted stamp set and the "Happy Birthday" from MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Fields of Joy

Hi Crafty Friends,

Earlier in the year Hero Arts released some new Color Layering Scape stamp set. These stamps sets were so different that I had to purchase one of the stamp sets.

Today I am sharing some card I created using this stamp set. I ended up making 6 cards in total, 2 of each design. The smaller square card uses different colors and a different image, but otherwise the same.

For my card todayy I used the Tulip Field Color Layering Scape stamp set.

For my first card I used Catherine Pooler inks in Lime Rickey and Grass Skirt of the grass areas of my card. For the flowers I used Altenew inks in Coral Bliss and Heart Bliss.

I added Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks for the sky and then trimmed my card so it was 9 1/2 cm in height. I added the windmill which is also included in the stamp set. The birds are from a previous Hero Arts My Monthly Hero stamp set.

For the second set of cards I created a square card which is 4 1/2 inches square. I used MFT Stamps Stitched Square Frames to create the frame around the main panel.

This time around I used Altenew inks in Pinkalicious and Rubellite for the flowers.

This one is a variation of the square card above, this time I used Altenew inks in Snapdragon and Autumn Blaze for the flowers. I also stamped the tree instead of the windmill.

This is the final set of cards. This time round I die cut the panel using a rectangle die from Heffy Doodle Stamps Metric Stitched Rectangles die set.

Flying By To Say

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Interactive - Anyone who knows me knows how much I love cards that pop, slide or move in any shape or form. For our challenge this week, let's create an interactive card ... what type you make is up to you.

I have seen a number of people using the Reveal Wheel Card die set to use to create movement to an image. So I decided to that for my card today.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

To create the background of my card, I die cut the large Reveal Wheel rectangle panel. I added clouds to the background using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink and MFT Mini Cloud stencil.

I added die cut clouds long the bottom of the card using the clouds included in Hello Bluebird's Sunshine Scene & After the Rain dies.

To decorate my card I added images from Hello Bluebird's Maverick stamp set. I used the birds from the stamp set and Waffle Flower Crafts Mini Media Mat in the MISTI to create mirror images of the birds.

The sentiments are white embossed onto black cardstock and then die cut using Honey Bee Stamps Banner Builder die set.

Here you can see how you move the wheel on the right side of the card up or down that the elephant pilot & plane move around the card.

For the inside of the card I used one of the rectangles included in the Imperial Stitched Rectangles die set. I stamped clouds over the panel, the clouds are also include in the Maverick stamp set.

I added the "Wild About You" die cut sentiment to the centre of the card.

Little Note Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Recently a friend asked me if I would make a birthday card for her to send to her sister, who has a birthday coming up next month. My friend mentioned that her sister enjoyed singing, violin & painting ... so this is what I came up with.

For the front of the card I CASED a card I made a couple of years ago, just changing up the colors.

I added Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral and Wilted Violet to a white cardstock panel. I then splattered white & gold paint over the background. I did cut the panel using a square die from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Dashing Squares die set.

I die cut the the square panel & a black card panel using MFT Stamps Happy Birthday Block die and paper pieced the black letters into the holes in the distress oxide panel.

For the bottom section of the card I stamped Hero Arts Candy Stripe Bold Print Background stamp onto a piece of white cardstock using black ink. I then adhere this to the base of a top folded black card.

I adhered the Happy Birthday Block panel to the top of the card.

To decorate my card I stamped the critters from the Lawn Fawn Critter Concert Clear Stamp set and added them to my card.

I stamped a sentiment included in the stamp set onto a strip of white cardstock and added it to the sentiment panel.

To finish off the front of the cards I added music notes which are from Lawn Fawn's Little Music Notes die set.

For the inside of the card, I used the left over striped background to the top and bottom edges of the card.

I created an Explosion Pop-up using Karen Burniston's Explosion Pop-up die set.

I added the "Time To Celebrate!" sentiment from The Stamping Village's Happy Birthday stamp set to a rectangle panel. I die cut the "84" from Distress Oxide background and adhered them to the top of the rectangle panel.

I added the owl playing the violin, to the top pop-up panel.

I added a blank oval panel to the base of the card, so that there was a place to add a hand written greeting.
