Yippie Yi Yo!

alota-cowboy-boot-wm It is time for another challenge over on the Alota Rubber Stamps Paper Craft Planet Group. This week the challenge is hosted by me. You have two weeks from today to participate in this challenge and you also have a chance of winning some wonderful stamps if you card is selected randomly from all the entries received.

I love shaped cards (unfortunately I don’t always get the time to make as many as I would like) so I decided that our challenge this time round would be to create a shaped card … no squares or rectangles! You can use circles, hearts, stamps or any other shape your heart desires!

For my shaped card I decided to create a cowboy’s boot card. I found the template in an old Papercrafts Magazine so I am unable to share the pattern with you sorry. The stamps I used for my card are from the Western Days plate from Alota Rubber Stamps.

alota-cowboy-boot-2-wmHere is the inside of my card with the sentiment also on the same unmounted plate.

basketball-wm Here are a couple more shaped cards I found in my files of my computer that I created using Alota Rubber Stamps ages ago.

This first one uses the “Basketball Bug” from Alota.

Bee-Apron-wm And here I used ”Peeking Bug” and “Bug looking left” to create an Apron shaped card.

What shaped card will you create?? Hope to see you over on the Alota Rubber Stamps PCP group.

5 Little Dresses!

Hanna-green-little-dress-wm

Hi everyone!

I have 2 more Hanna Stamps sneak peeks to share with you today. These two cards use the new 5 Little Dresses set that will be released by Hanna Stamps after the release party this coming Monday 1st June.

For my first card I have used just the one girl on my card … this is actually my favorite out of all the girls & dresses in this set. You will probably work that out yourself as I have used her in each of the cards I have made so far hehe! I colored the dress to match the designer paper. I also stamped one of the sentiments from the set “Mod Girl!” all around the edge of the bottom kiwi kiss layer.

HSJuneC1-little-dresses-wm

For my second card I used the colors Apricot Appeal, Ballet Blue & Bashful Blue. The buttons at the top were actually a lighter color but I wanted it to match my ribbon so I colored them in using my copics.

Stamps: 5 Little Dresses – Hanna Stamps

Paper: White; Black; Kiwi Kiss, Apricot Appeal, Ballet Blue & Bashful Blue – SU; DP – SU

Friends!

occ-minnie-wm

Happy Saturday everyone.

It’s OCC challenge time over on the Our Creative Corner Blog. This week have a sketch to play with …. who doesn’t love sketches right!!!

A couple of weeks ago a couple of friends and I went up to our favorite scrapbook store (I don’t scrapbook, but I do love their papers etc that they sell) …. we must have been made cause we went on the worst day of rain in about 30 years … although to be fair we did think it was starting to clear up when we left here but apparently not … oops. Anyway while out shopping my friend found a couple of Disney sets which we all had to have …. shhhhhhhhh!

Of course I had to get them out and play so I decided to use Minnie for my card today. I paper pieced her dress & bow using some designer paper.

OCCSketch3 Here is the sketch we were given …. I didn’t round my corners of my base card like it shows in the sketch …. oops! I am not going to try and pull it apart just for rounded corners.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the OCC Designers cards over on the OCC Blog.

Jurassically Awesome!

hanna-jurassic-wm

Hi all … I am back today with three more Hanna Stamps sneak peeks of the new stamps that will be released after the release party this Monday 1st June. Today I am using the new “Stamposaurus” set.

This is such a fun set …. which little boy doesn’t love dinosaurs and I am sure there are many little girls that love them too *smile*

For my first card I created a scene using some of the stamps from this set. I stamped the children first, then I masked these and stamped the barrier fence. This was also masked and then I stamped my dinosaur. I drew in the floor line and used a scrunched tissue to create the texture on the wall of my card.

hanna-sc229-jurassic-wm

I used just the dinosaur on its own for my second card, sponging around the edges. The layout is a SCS sketch #SC229 … I flipped and mirrored it so that I could have the dinosaur on the left side of my card.

For both of my first 2 cards I used the Basic Grey Archaic designer papers.

hanna-whats-happening-wm

My final card today uses all of the children/people in the set. The fun thing about these kids is that other then the group of 3 girls that you can see at the very right of my card the others are individual stamps so you can use however many you want to and in any order you like. I just placed them all onto an acrylic mount and then stamped them once and then stamps just 4 of them again to fill the length of my strip of card.

This card reminded me of how when you get a few people together, more people come over to see what’s happening …. creating a card. Which obviously inspired the sentiment that I used here. This was created using the Justrite Stampers alphabet set.

I will have more sneak peeks for you again tomorrow!

Warm & Fuzzy!

alota-warm-and-fuzzy-wm

There’s a bear in there … and a chair as well!

Oops sorry you have caught me singing again hehe! It has been a while ha. This cute Teddy Bear from Alota Rubber Stamps reminds me of Big Ted from Play School. Some of you might not know who or what that is as it is probably just an Aussie thing. Play School is a children’s TV show which has been going for forever …. I know my kids grew up on it and they are now both in their 30’s and it is still on TV. That is why I was singing Play School’s opening song hehe!

I decided to use Ted and make a scrapling today … I am kind of addicted to these fun little cards and they are great cause they make use of those off cuts I have tons off when I cut down my cardstock to create a normal card. Well normal for me cause they are seldom a standard size.

Most Wonderful …..

elzy 21 recycled

Hi everyone, It is Elzybells challenge time over on the Elzybells Art Stamps blog. This week the challenge was “Recycling” we could interpret that however we wished.

As this wasn’t my first card using this theme this year I wanted to use something I hadn’t previously used before. After I little thought I noticed the pretty patterns that are on the inside of some envelopes so I decided that I would use the patterned envelope paper on my card for this challenge.

I am still having fun playing with my sizzix ‘movers & shakers’ note card die and the windows as you can see here …. can’t wait till I get the A2 version of this die cause it will give more options on what I can use with it.

I used the new DIY Ted and the Family Messages set that were released by Elzybells Art Stamps last week.

elzy 21 recycled3

Here is the inside of my card …. I love this new “Family Greetings” set as I can mix and match the messages to get the exact greeting I need. I figured I might give this one to my DH sometime.

Pretties Wednesday – White on White!

pp-white-white-wm

Hi everyone

It is time for another Pretties Wednesday challenge that I play every Wednesday with my fellow Prettie Girls. 2 weeks ago Jacque Pedro challenged the Prettie Girls to make an ALL WHITE card with the EXCEPTION OF THE IMAGE. It can have as many layers as you want but must be white on white!!

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!! Like Jacque I have seen a number of these online and admired them. Admiring them and actually doing one though now that was a different matter! Anyway not one to shirk a challenge and after joining the other Prettie Girls ribbing Jacque I sat down and got to work on my card.

I used Paper Pretties “Give Thanks” set which will be the June SOTM set for Paper Pretties .... you can find out how you can get this set the month before it is released to the public here.

I stamped Sophia on white card and also stamped her dress on some striped vellum that I found so I could paper piece her dress. I used two different types of white card so that you could see a slight difference in the layers. I also used my sizzix texture plate to add texture to one of the layers. I added pearls to the front of her dress and also found a white ribbon rose to adhere over the flower.

Don't forget to check out the other Design Teams blogs to see there creations this week.

Howdy Girlfriend!

pp-cowgirl-scrapling-wm

Howdy everyone and happy Tuesday! I have another Paper Pretties card to share with you today.

I made this a few weeks ago for another Paper Pretties challenge but then decided to make something else for that so I didn't end up using this one. As you can see I created a scrapling ... i so enjoy making scraplings .... esp seeing I have all these left over pieces of card left over when I make larger cards.

For my scrapling today I used the Paper Pretties “Howdy Girlfriend” stamp set. I used the petit oval nestabilities for the layers to my main image. The brown piece on the left of the card was created using the embossed zigzag border punch.

Recipe:

Stamps: Howdy Girlfriend Set – Paper Pretties

Paper: White; Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip & Urban Garden DP – SU

Owl Be A Pirate!

ccee-pirate-owl-wm

My card today is for the challenge I do each week with my CCEE Stamper friends. This week is our supply challenge which we do each month, this is when the challenge hostess sends us all the same supplies to use when we are creating our cards.

This month Deb our challenge hostess for May sent us all 3 pieces of Bittersweet designer paper from Basic Grey, a brad and 2 pieces of ribbon. She instructed us to use at least 2 of the 3 pieces of designer paper to create our card and also to use the brad. The ribbons were optional.

I used Jen’s of Iheart2stamps’s blog SFYTT sketch from 16th May to create my card. I also used one of my Jessica Lynn Original owls that I received recently. As the designer papers had pink in them I decided my pirate would be a female … so I colored her hat pink. I did cheat on the brad and swapped it for some I had similar as I needed 2 for my card not 1 … hopefully Deb won’t mind hehe!

ccee-pirate-owl-in-wm Here is the inside of my card, I used the sentiment from the Stampendous Pirate owls that I have.

Additional Optional Challenge

In observance of Memorial Day as celebrated in the US, many of the CCEE girls are sending the cards they made today to Cards for Heroes.org . These cards are then forwarded to service men to be used in communicating with their families as well as acknowledging important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries and etc. in their families. If you would like to thank a serviceman by donating your card please click here.......

Bath Salts!

mft-bath-salts-wm

Hi everyone

My project today uses the new Time for Bubbly Label set that was released by MFT Stamps earlier in the week.

I used this set to create a little gift package of bath salts. Bath salts can be made very cheaply using just a few ingredients the main one being epsom salts or sea salt. You will find loads of recipes online by using google reader, here is one I found.  After I made my bath salts I poured them into a cellophane packet and then created this little bag to put my bag of bath salts into. My bath salts are yellow which is why I used yellow for my image.

OCC – Sentiments!

occ-sentiment-wm

Happy Saturday everyone, it is time for another OCC challenge over on the Our Creative Corner Blog. This week we had to use a sentiment as the focal point of our card and also to include ribbon on our card.

I love these sentiments from Paper Inspirations, they have quite a number of sentiments for all sorts of occasions using the same format. I have at least 5 different ones, they are perfect for fronts of cards and also for the inside too. I also like using this Rose from Penny Black or any solid flower over the top of the sentiment. So of course that is what I did for my card today.

I stamped the sentiment and then used my labels 4 nestabilities to cut it out. While the die was still in place I stamped on my rose using my stamp positioner so that the rose was exactly where I wanted it. I cut two more label 4 pieces this time using kiwi kiss card cut them each in half and then attached them behind my white card.

The ribbon was a fluke, I had actually forgotten about that part of the challenge until I started writing this post …. phew just as well I added it ha *giggle*

Don't forget to check out the rest of the OCC Designers cards over on the OCC Blog.
