Elizabeth Craft Designs August Designer Challenge

ECDAsianVasewm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for our August Elizabeth Craft Designs Designer Challenge. Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on today at 8AM MST when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Our theme this month is an Asian Theme. Elizabeth Craft Designs has a variety of Dies and Peel-Off Stickers which will work for this theme.

ECDAsianVase3wm

For my card today I created another Stand-Up card in the style that Karen Aicken posted in a recent ECD blog post, for details how to create this style of card visit her post here.

I used the Asian Vases Peel-Off Stickers for my card. I attached the peel-off stickers to double sided adhesive paper and then added Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to each of the vases, burnished the glitter and then colored the image with copics.

I used the Best Wishes Stand Up Helper die to which I used directly on my card and also cut another out of the tan card to overlay over the blue one.

On the middle panel I used Orange Iridescent Shimmer Sheetz which I embossed using the Bamboo Embossing Folder and then dabbed with Stazon Blue ink. My shimmer sheetz is in one panel, but next time I use shimmer sheetz on this style of card I will probably cut it into two panels so it is easier on the fold.

ECDAsianVase4wm

On the inside of the card I added one of the negative vases from the Asian Vases Peel-Off Stickers using Transfer Sheet to get the negative from the sticker to the card.

ECDAsianVase2wm

Here is my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. You can also see that I added some Asian Signs Peel-off Stickers to each of the side pieces.

Thanks for stopping by, don’t forget to check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog where you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Happy Happy Birthday

C4C251Roses1wm

Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week our challenge hostess for August, Helen Cryer finishes off the month with one last challenge.

For our challenge this week Helen has given us an Inspiration Challenge using the photo below.

C4C251

C4C251Roseswm

As you can see by the photo above, I took my inspiration from the colors, the stripes of colors and the roses.

I die cut a panel of each of the different colors which were included in the inspiration photo and adhered them to my folded white card.

The Penny Black Rose stamp has to be my favorite flower stamp I have so of course I had to get the die which I finally found at our Paper Craft Show back in June. I die cut two of the roses, colored using ink pads and a sponging block, and then I layered them to my card using foam tape. I used two different thicknesses of foam tape so that one of the roses was raised a little higher than the other.

C4C251Roses2wm

Of course, if you know me I LOVE making pop up cards so for the inside I created a pop up using the Lucy Label Pop Up card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I took a different sized die and created four more panels of the colors like I did on the outside and added them in the inside, for the middle color I just die cut the pop up label again and added that over the white.

I then die cut two more roses and added those to the top and bottom panels.

C4C251Roses3wm

Here is a side on view of my card so you can see the pop up panel a little better.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

    Herringbone

    Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostess for the month Amber Hillman, brings us her final challenge.

This week Amber has given us a Technique challenge - Herringbone. A fun technique using up scraps of paper. Directions can be found over on Splitcoast Stampers.

For my card this week I decided to play with the Katie Label Pivot card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I created my herringbone pieces on two panels and then cut them up so that I could adhere them to the sides of my card.

To decorate my card I used a Prima Doll.

Here is the inside of my card, I have added more herringbone panels to each edge and also another Prima Doll on the right hand side and a gift on the other side. I also added some birthday candles underneath the pivot area.

And finally the back of my card ... plain compared to the rest of my card, but still prettier than the back of a plain flat card :).

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

    Daddy!

    IMG_7176

     Hi everyone,

Father's Day is only a couple of weeks away down here in Australia (it is the 1st Sunday in September), so I figured that was the perfect opportunity to create a card using the MFT Die-namics Suit & Tie.

I die cut the suit part of the card from designer paper and layered them all onto a Navy top folded card.

    IMG_7164

For the inside of the card, I added a stripe of the same striped designer paper I used for the suit and added two two sentiments and some stars from Simon Says Stamp! Fathers Day stamp set.

Paper: Cream; Blue; Navy; Suave DP - Authentique

    A Birthday Wish!

    C4C250Wishes2wm

    Hello everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week our challenge hostess for August, Helen Cryer continues to bring us a fun challenge.

For our challenge this week Helen has asked us to use Animals on our cards … Helen would like to see a card with at least one animal on it… except no Bears or Bunnies… let’s see some more unusual animals!

I purchased a number of stamps from Purple Onion Designs way back in May, but due to Design Team work I hadn’t had time to play with any of them …. so for my card this week I decided to pull our my box of Purple Onion Stamps and play!

I just love that Mouse/Dandelion stamp and when I figured out it would work in the Katie Label Accordion designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs, I decided to use that for my card. As you can make wishes when you blow a dandelion, I found a birthday greeting that had the word wish in it and also add some flowers and the cute little robin to my other Accordion Panel.

    C4C250Wisheswm

Here is a look at my card from the front when it is closed. I stamped the Mouse and Dandelion twice … once directly onto the Katie Label Panel and then once on scrap card. I cut out the one from scrap card and layered it over the one on the panel so I got the whole Mouse and Dandelion … you can see the ear of the mouse and one of the leaves of the dandelion overlapping.

I have also used the Katie Stars Frame Edge to decorate the frame.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

    Birthday's Always in Fashion

    Hi everyone,

It's my turn to post a card/tutorial over on the Elizabeth Craft Design Blog.  This time round I thought I would play with one of the stickers from the Jackie's Dolls 2 Peel-off Stickers. I love these elegant images, they are taller than any of the other Peel-off stickers which makes them idea to use to create tall cards, which is what I have done today.

Here is how I made the card:

    1. Cut a piece of white card and a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Paper that are approx 3 inches x 7 inches. Remove the release sheet from one side of the adhesive paper and set it aside upside down on your desk (shiny side up). Adhere our Double Sided Adhesive sheet to the piece of white card.

    2. From the Jackie's Dolls 2 Peel-Off Sticker Sheet remove the girl, the hair and the extra skirt. (I also added a few other things to mine as you can see in the photos above in case I needed them, but I didn't end up using for this card.) Place your pieces sticky side up onto the release sheet that we set aside earlier.

    3. Take your white card and place it with the adhesive side facing down onto the release sheet with the Peel-Offs on it. The Peel-Offs will lift from the release sheet and stick to the adhesive on the card stock.

    4. Turn your card so the release sheet is now on top. Take off the release sheet and make sure not to touch the images on the adhesive.

    5. Cover the adhesive with Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter and polish with your finger. You can see a video Els created using this technique here. Color your images as desired.

    6. Cut out the girl, the hair and extra skirt. Use foam tape and adhere the hair and extra skirt onto the girl.

    7. To create the card base cut a piece of bright pink card that measures 7 3/4 inches x 81/2 inches. Score along the 8 1/2 inch side at 4 1/4 inches so you have a folded card which is 7 3/4 inches tall x 4 1/4 inches wide.

    8. Layer onto the front of the folded card a piece of lilac card which is 7 1/2 inches by 4 inches.

    9. Next layer a piece of designer paper which is 7 1/4 inches x 3 3/4 inches (my designer paper is actually from a 6" x 6" paper pad, because I used striped paper it was easy for me to add a little extra at the bottom and you can't see the join)

    10. For the two circles at the top and bottom of my card I used the large accessory circles from the Circle Spiral Pull Card and the Circle Accordion Die. (If you look at my card above the circles aren't going to be seen towards the centre of the card, so to save card I just die cut part of circle and layered and adhered to the base card so the piece missing goes towards the centre. This saves cutting into another sheet of card just for a circle)

    11. Cut a piece of white card 2 3/8 inches x 6 1/4 inches. Layer this onto a piece of bright pink card which is 2 5/8 inches x 6 1/2 inches.

    12. Attach foam tape to the back of the Girl image we created earlier and adhere this to the centre of this panel.

    13. Die cut the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper from bright pink card. Trim down the excess card on each side of the die cut word, leaving a 1/2 inch tail at the bottom. Apply some adhesive to the lower back of the right side of the panel and adhere Happy Birthday to the back so that all you see from the front is the letters not any borders. (This is a quick and easy way of adding one of the Stand Up Word dies to you card).

    14. In the top right and bottom left hand corners of this panel, add the middle sized Pink/Silver Glitter Dots. (You can see in the photo above I added these in three rows, offsetting each row so I got a triangle shape.

    15. Adhere the finished panel to the folded card.

    The inside of the card:

    16. Cut a piece of white card that is 3 3/4 inches x 7 1/4 inches. Layer this onto a piece of  lilac card which is 4 inches x 7 1/2 inches.

    17. Add a strip of designer paper to the bottom of the white card. (Mine is 2 inches wide)

    18. Cut out around the negative image left on the Jackie's Dolls 2 Peel-Off Sticker Sheet. Remove the outer black sticker that goes around the whole image. Take a piece of Transfer Sheet, remove the protective backing and place this over the negative image. Use a bone folder to help transfer the image to the Transfer Sheet. Next place this Transfer Sheet that now has the negative image where you wish it to go, place down on the card and again use a bone folder to transfer it to your card. (I added a piece of scrap paper over the designer paper so the negative image didn't go onto that as I was only using part of the negative image).

    19. Stamp sentiment onto your card using black ink as per photo above.

    Thanks for stopping by today!

A Wise Old Owl Once Said …

    CCEE1434BacktoSchoolwm

    Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostess for the month, Amber Hillman continues to issue the challenges.

Amber tells us that school starts back up today for her kids! So let's make a card or item that can be given to the teacher at open house or first day of school.

I recently was sent a few of the Dare 2B Artzy Owl stamp sets and die from a friend in the USA, and this owl stamp was one of them, so I decided to combine it with the Blueprints 17 Die-namics from MFT Stamps to create a school themed card for my card today.

i also found a few school themed stamp sets in  my stash which I also used to decorate the blackboard.

    CCEE1434BacktoSchool2wm

Here is the inside of my card, I added a couple of sentiments to the chalkboard.

    One Layer Card

    RIley1714Lifewm

    Hi everyone,

It's challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This time round it isVera’s turn to host the challenge.

Our challenge this week is to create a one layer card.

Normally I would be kicking and screaming while I am making a one layer card as they aren't the easiest for me to create. But I didn't for this one and I actually enjoyed the process ... go figure!

For my card today I have used Riley and Company's Give them something to talk about funny bones stamp.

To create my card, I started with a top folded card. I selected a shape I wanted for the sentiment and die cut the shape out of paper, added removable adhesive to the back and centred it on my card. I then used a stencil to create the zigzag pattern on my card, using various inks.

I then removed the mask, stamped the sentiment using black ink and used a black marker to added dashes around the edge of the shape to help define it.

Karen Burniston August Designer Challenge Card 3

    KBDCChillinBday1wm

    Hi everyone,

As promised this morning I am back with yet another card for this month’s Karen Burniston’s Designer Challenge. This time round the theme Karen has given us is Hoppy, Poppy & Chilly - any theme, any style, any type of project (pop-up, or flat, or 3D or party favor or layout or ...?) using the character/animal dies.

Scroll down to my previous two posts if you missed out on seeing my cards for this month challenges where I used Poppy the Owl and Hoppy the Frog. Of course I couldn't let Chilly the Penguin miss out on all the fun :)

Check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen Burniston will have another of her amazing video tutorials for us.

    KBDCChillinBdaywm

I think all of the cards I have made using Chilly the Penguin have been Christmas cards so far! Of course Penguins can be used all year round, so today I decided to create a Birthday Card.

This time round I have created a Pivot Card using the Evergreen Pivot Card die set, again this die set can be used for any occasion not just Christmas. To decorate the front I added a piece of card over the fold which has been embossed using the Heart Strings Embossing Folder.

I used the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper to create the sentiment on the top right hand side of my card. I die cut the sentiment 5 times to create a raised sentiment.

    KBDCChillinBday2wm

Here you can see the inside of my card. After die cutting the card base using the Evergreen Pivot Card die set I die cut the three individual trees also included in the set, embossing the trees with the designs on the dies.

I used the snow from the Outdoor Edges die set to create the snow at the bottom of the card. I added Double Sided Adhesive Paper to white card and then used the snow die to die cut this and then added the Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter.

The snowflakes were created using the snowflake die included in the All Seasons Tree die set. I then added a Transparent/Gold Glitter Dot to the centre of each snowflake.

    KBDCChillinBday3wm

Here is a close up of the left side of my card. Here you can see one of the Chilly the Penguin images I created. This was created using Black Velvet Adhesive Sheet, White Velvet Adhesive Sheet and Yellow Velvet Adhesive Sheet.

I used the Props 1 die set to create the hat and glasses. The glasses were die cut using Double Sided Adhesive Paper and then added Lavender Silk Microfine Glitter.  I also added a Purple/Silver Glitter Dot to each side of the glasses.

    KBDCChillinBday4wm

Here is a close up view of the right side of my card. I added another penguin, adding the bow from the Props 1 die set.

The birthday sentiment at the top right hand corner of the card was computer generated. I used the fishtail label from the Lorna Label Pop Up to die cut the sentiment.

    KBDCChillinBday5wm

Here is the back of my card, I love how the back of this style of card also has some interest to it.

If you are looking to purchase Karen’s Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Photo Continental.

Don’t forget to check out the Elizabeth Crafts Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.
