Twenty First Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

I needed to make a 21st card this year for my daughter to give to one of her nephew's. His birthday isn't until later in the year, but when I was watching a video on how to create this style of card by Sam Calcott recently ... I knew I needed to make the card while the inspiration was there.

This style of card is called a Tiered Floating Panel Showstopper Card, and you can find Sam's tutorial here

For the back centre panel, I used the 21 number from Creative Craft Products Numbers Galore Collection. I die cut the number using dark blue glitter cardstock.

I added the hand holding the beer mug which is a stamp set from Trinity Stamps. The "nephew" is from the sentiment set from Made To Surprise's Showstoppers 3 collection.

I dry embossed the back panel the 8 x 8 Linen Embossing Folder also from Made To Surprise.

The card folds down to a 6 x 6 card size, although because of all the layers is a little bulky. But for a special card and being hand delivered that isn't a problem.

The sentiments on the very front of the card are older ones I have had in my stash for years.

I added a panel to the back of the card, for a place to add a sentiment and a personal greeting. This sentiment is from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Showstoppers 2 collection.

Sporty Happy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a fun male themed birthday card using new stamps, dies and papers from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott.

For the pop-up portion of the card, I used the new Winged Pop-up die set from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Showstopper 3 Collection. I also love Sam's Showstopper dies and this one is no exception. I love how many different ways I can use it to get a completely different look.

To decorate the card, I used two of the stamp sets, sentiment sets, papers and embossing folder which were also part of the Showstopper 3 collection. It is good to see some male themed stamps being release, who doesn't need ideas for male cards.

For the front of the card, I used elements that I used on the inside to create a design. Check my supply list below to see the products I used on this card.

Easter Bunny

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing an Easter themed Kinetic Easel Block card I created recently to give to one of my grandchildren for Easter.

This card using the Bouncing Bunny & It's Only More Puppets 5 x 7" Mechanism die sets from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott. I used Sam's tutorial on creating an Easel Block card which she created when this collection was released last year, but I did give my card a few tweaks to make it a little different. You can find Sam Calcott's Easel Block Card Tutorial here.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action and how it folds.

For my Easel Block card, I did use the same bunny and papers which Sam used on hers, mainly these papers suited the style of card the best in my opinion. I did how change up the theme, making mine an Easter card.

I added Easter eggs to the card using Lawn Fawn's Mini Easter Eggs die set.

For the sentiment I used Karen Burniston's new Happy Easter die set which I adhered to the centre of the block portion of the Easel Block Card.

I also added an Easter Egg Basket to one of the bunny's arm which is from Karen Burniston's new Animal Add-ons 5 die set.

Here is a side view of my card, to see the look of the card a little easier.

On the inside base of the card, I added a large Easter Egg die cut and an Easter sentiment. Both the sentiment and large egg are from Divinity Designs, links of which are in the supply list below.

You can also see on this photo how two eggs at the back of the "block" are adhered so they don't interfere with the workings of the bunny.

I added a panel at the back inner portion of the card. Here I added two more sentiments which are also included in the Divinity Designs stamp set. I also added four more of the mini Easter Eggs.

Here is a look at my card when it is folded, ready to be placed in an envelope. You can see how the card folds to fit an envelope, by watching the video at the top of the post. Because of the pull tab at the top of the card the card measures 7 1/2 inches x 5 inches.

Measure Up

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a sewing and postage themed Slimline Pop Up Card.

Last year, I purchased Waffle Flower Crafts Postage Collage dies and stencils. I love them so much that when they released their other postage themed dies/stencils in other size formats I had to add some of them to my stash.

One that I purchased was the die stencils in the slimline format.

As you can see I went with a sewing theme for my card, using stamps from Clearly Besotted.

After I mounted my card to my top folding card base, I added the wax seal to the lower left corner of my card. In case you can't see, the wax seal has a sewing machine on it.

For the inside of my card, I created a pop-up card, using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. Rather than adding the label from the die set to my card, I kept with the postage theme and added the postage stamp. The sentiment is from a Your Next Stamp stamp set.

I also wanted to include something sewing related to the inside of my card, so I decided to go with the zipper border. This is an older die I purchased many years ago by a company called Zippity Do Da. The die is actually only about 6 inches long, but with some careful partial die cutting I was able to die cut it so it would fit the length of my slimline card.

For my card today I pulled out the Lorna Label Pop-up die set to create a Double Lorna Pop-up. The Lorna Label Pop-up is a re-release of a die set when Karen was designing for another company, rather than the pop-up having to be die cut into the card, this time round it is a glue in pop-up. I was pretty excited when I heard it was coming back. One of the things I used to do using this pop-up die was to create a "double" pop-up, so that was one of the first things I tried when I got my dies for this release.

To create the double pop-up using the Lorna Label die, fold your card in half and then position the die so it is lined up with the score line closest to the bottom of the flat portion of the label. You insert it into the card, the same way you would a single pop-up but of course you have a label at each side. I turned my card so it was in landscape style, but it works equally well in portrait style.

To decorate my card, I used the sand die from the Nature Edges die set to add sand along the bottom of the card. I added the palm trees from the Beach Bar Tiny House Add-ons die set.

The flamingo floaty, floaty, snorkel and flippers are from the Tiny Accessories 4 die set. I used the monkey from the Monkey & Lion die set to add to the floaty.

For the sentiment, I added the "Hello" from the Word Set 6 - Summer die set. I added the stamped "waving" which is from an older stamp set.

My card measures just under 6 inches wide by 5 inches high.

For the front of the card, I added the sand using the Nature Edges die set. I also added two more palm trees.

The umbrella, sun and surfboard are all from the new Beach Elements die set.

I also added another monkey and the snorkel, mask and flippers from the Tiny Accessories 4 die set.

Well that's about it from me today, thank you for dropping by. To continue on the blog hop, click on the next person on the list, which is Jennifer Webster

Love U A Latte

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a coffee themed pop-up up card using three of the new die sets from Karen Burniston which are being released on Monday 19th February.

For my card today I used the Tea and Coffee Pop-up die set to create this coffee themed pop-up card. This die set includes a coffee mug, a cup & saucer, a spoon, steam and tea bag as well as the pop-up mechanism.

I used the borders from the new Tea and Coffee Borders die set to add the coffee bean border and the tiny coffee mugs.

For the label I added the label from the Lorna Label die set, cutting the lower portion off.

I added the "love"  & "a" from the Word Set 18 - Connectors die set to create part of the sentiment on the mug and label. The rest of the sentiment uses the alphabet from the Mini Alphabet & Numbers die set.

For the front of the card, I used the border dies from the Tea and Coffee Borders die set.

I added the birthday sentiment using the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow die sets.

Happy Easter

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today starts the sneak peeks of the new dies being released by Karen Burniston this coming Monday 19th February. This time around there are 12 new dies being released.

I was excited when I heard that Karen was re-releasing the Lorna Label Pop-up die set. This was released a number of years ago when Karen was designing for another company. Rather than die cut directly into the cardstock, this die creates a glue in pop-up. Expect to see me using it a lot! Check out my Lorna Labels Pop-up label at the bottom of this post to see more ideas using this die set.

As you can see I created an Easter themed card using the new Easter Borders & Happy Easter die sets. I also used dies from the Nature Edges and Spring Animals die sets.

For the front of the card, I used the Nature Edges die set along with the carrot border included in the Easter Borders die set.

I created the rabbit using dies from the Animal Add-ons 5 & Circles Crosshatch die sets.
