Creative Chat–Storing Coloring Mediums/Tools

Print

Hi everyone,

It’s time for the MFT Creative Chat. The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Chat is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative spaces and share valuable organizational methods, tools, and shopping strategies with you. You’ll be able to peek into our creative spaces, ask questions, and share your own ideas in the MFT Forum. This month, we were asked the following questions.

Show us how you organize and store your different coloring mediums (colored pencils, watercolors, paint, markers, chalks, etc).

What is your favorite coloring medium?

Any coloring tips you'd like to share?

Ever since I discovered alcohol markets a number of years ago, I have to say that my very favorite coloring medium is Copic Markers, I would use these on approx 99.9% of my creations.

However over the years I collected various other products that can also be used for coloring and can also be used for a number of techniques too. Although I don’t use them very often, it is nice to know that if and when I do want to use these other products I have them on hand to play with.

I have created another video to share with you how I store a variety of my Coloring Mediums other then copics. Hope you enjoy.

Storing Coloring Mediums/Tools

Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge and get ready to delve into the minds of our creative team, I know I am looking forward to seeing what the other Design Team members do for this topic.

Black, White and …..

CHF06 KinkadeFishing wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another CHF challenge over on the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog .

This week our challenge hostess is Michele L who has given us a color challenge …. Black, White and ? (your choice of third color)

As you can see my third color is red!

For my card this week I have again used Cornish Heritage Farms Thomas Kinkade It Doesn't Get Much Better. This time round I divided the image into 4 pieces and then layered this onto black card leaving a small gap between each piece to resemble a window.

I added the sentiment Life is Good Digital Stamp to the bottom of the card.

CHF06 KinkadeFishing2 wm

Here is the inside of my card, I kept it fairly simple adding Here's Wishing... Word Digital Stamp sentiment.

Want to play along????

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you! AND - if you do, you could win a $10 Gift Certificate and a Winner's Badge to put on your Blog!
To play create a card using CHF images. You can use either CHF digi or rubber stamps to create a card or project.... anything you like as long as the stamps are Cornish Heritage Farms. (Yes, they can be older stamps.)

Once you have created your card/project come back here and place a comment with a link to your card/project to this post so that we can see what you created. If you upload your card/project to SCS don't forget to include the keyword CHF06. We can't wait to see what you create!

Singing Reindeer!

Singing Reindeer wm

Hi everyone,

Recently I participated in a Christmas in July Shoebox swap with a few friends. I didn’t want to make the normal Christmas card, so I went surfing around to find something else to do for it. While browsing on Pinterest I came across this cute Singing Reindeer Pyramid card that someone else had pinned from someone who posted something similar onto Splitcoast Stampers. I thought it was adorable and it has been a while since I have created a pyramid card, so I set to creating one.

Singing Reindeer2 wm

Here is another view of my Singing Reindeer Pyramid Card. the side piece slips into a slit on the side to keep it in place, but you can unfold it  in case you want to post it to someone.

A few years back I posted a tutorial on how to create a Pyramid card which you can find on my blog here.

Stamps: SU
Paper: Kraft, Red; Brown; White
Other: Oval Punches; Circle Punches; MFT Die-namics Tree Branch; Modern Label Punch; Twine

Hi everyone,
It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week Kelli Hull brings us her last challenge for the month.

Hot Summer Nights; what is your favorite thing to do on a Summer Night, must use Bling and one other embellishment

For my card this week I used MFT Stamps Pure Innocence Surf Chick, I paper pieced the girls swimsuit and also her board using designer papers. The layout of my card uses a recent Sweet Sunday sketch (SSSC161). I used the Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX and also the Die-namics Plentiful Petals . I used a Tangerine Tango Button from Buttons Galore & More. I also added Denim Twine to the button.

I have to confess I remembered the embellishment but forgot the bling … oops!

The piece at the right side of the card was created using the Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX (one of my favorite die-namics!), I added the flower using Die-namics Plentiful Petals . The sentiment and the banner the sentiment is on are both from the Die-namics Airplane Greetings Die & Stamp Set Combo.

I paper pieced the balloons that Flopsey is holding using designer paper.

The buttons are all from Buttons Galore  & More, I used buttons from 3 different packs …. Berrylicious; Strawberry and Mint Cooler. I have threaded Caribbean Teal Twine and Blossom Twine through the buttons.
