Seasonal Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a 5 x 7 card I created recently using stamps, dies and stencils from Sheena available from Craft Stash.

About two months ago, Sheena released some seasonal themed stamps, dies and stencils. By the time they arrived at Craft Stash, the Spring/Summer ones were the only ones available but as they were the ones that appealed to me the most, that was okay for me. The stamp set is called Seasonal Stroll and works with both the Spring and Summer Stencils. For my card today I used the Spring Stencil.

Before using the stencil, I worked out where I wanted the grass and sky and marked the horizon. I then carefully added a base colour for the grass and sky, so I had something to build on.

With careful masking I was able to add the various colours to my scene. I added pink to the top of the tree to make it look like flowers, after applying the ink to this area, I then roughly covered the 'flowers' with Cosmo Shimmer Fluffy Stuff. After heating the Fluffy Stuff with my heat gun, I replaced the stencil over the image again and lightly covered the fluffy stuff with the same pink it. This gives this area a little more interest and texture.

I used Card Making Magic's  5 x 7in Alternate Stitched Nestables set to die cut the panel and layer before adding to a top folding 5 x 7 inch card. The Card base was created using a 10 x 7 inch card base, which I cut in half to get the 5 x 7 inch top folding card. I doubt I will ever make a 10 x 7 inch card, but I purchased these so I could using the envelopes included for the Showstopper cards I make. The bonus is I can get the top folding 5 x 7 cards without having to join two pieces of card together.

I stamped and die cut the boy, dog, frisbee and scooter using the stamps/dies from the Seasonal Stroll  stamp/die set.

For the inside of the card, I added a panel using the Card Making Magic  5 x 7in Alternate Stitched Nestables set, this time using the next size down.

I stamped the dog and frisbee to two of the corners of the card.

To finish off the card, I added the birthday sentiment which is from the Creative Card Products In The Window Sentiment Stamp set.

Herd It's Your Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Reveal Wheel Card using stamps and dies from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott.
I have a number of reveal wheel cards in the past, but this is the first one using the Reveal Wheel Die Set from Made To Surprise. The reveal wheel portion measures 5 1/2 inches square which gives a lot more room to decorate.

Here is a quick video to show my Reveal Wheel Card in action.

The Made To Surprise Reveal Wheel normally has a pie wedge cut out somewhere on the front, so that whatever is seen in the reveal wheel section is seen through that hole. However I wanted to try something different, so I die cut a speech bubble and then stamped various sentiments that relate to the farm animals shown on the card.

I added sky paper to the base card and then used the grass border included in the Easy Edges die set to add two layers of grass on the bottom section of the card.

I used the farm animals and three sentiments using the freebie set included in the Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 117. The stamp set was designed by Sam Calcott.

I coloured all my images using coloured pencils, this is my first attempt and colouring with these pencils, hopefully I will improve. The coloured pencils I used are the Black Widow Brand.

The Made to Surprise Reveal Wheel has a large brad in the middle of the card to hold the wheel. This normally can be seen, however I placed the cow in a position so that the brad is hidden.

I also needed two more farm themed sentiments, so I used two from an older MFT Stamps stamp set.

Here is a look at each of the 5 scenes showing the different sentiments that are revealed when you turn the wheel at the side of the card.

And finally the inside of my card, I added two of the animals to the bottom right hand corner of the card. I also added a birthday sentiment using the same MFT Stamps stamp set.

Have A Fancactus Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Colorado Craft Company recently released four cacti/succulent themed stamp sets, as I enjoy creating cards of this theme I purchased the sets. Three of the sets have an enormous image of a cacti/succulent, and some of the sentiments were very different to what I already have in my stash, so they were a must have.

Being so large, the image often won't fit on a complete card, unless you were making something large. I probably could fit one on a 5 x 7 card, but I wanted to make something different and the Magic Colour Slider card came to mind. As I liked the look of the partial image showing through the window I decided to make one of those.

To make the Magic Colour Slider portion of the card I used Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's 5 x 7 Magic Colour Slider die set. I was originally going to make the colour slider where the colour reveal is revealed on the top pull out panel however that didn't turn out properly so I went with plan b.

When you start to pull the tab at the top of the card, the black and white image starts to disappear with a coloured image

Here is a look at my card when the tab is completely pulled, you can see the fully coloured cacti and also a sentiment.

I used the layering die included in the die set to create the layer for my 5 x 7 top folding card base.

I added the "fan cactus birthday" sentiment to the lower section of my card. This is one of the sentiments included in the Can't Touch This stamp set from Colorado Craft Company, which is the stamp set I used for the cacti also.

I used the cacti that I was originally going to use on my card, but ended up not being able to be used on the magic colour slider portion of the card. I added it to the lower left hand corner of my card.

I added another of the cacti themed sentiments, this time from the Grow Girl stamp set. I also added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment underneath the main sentiment.

It's Your Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing two birthday cards using Taylored Expressions Birthday Create in Quads Stencil set.

This stencil consists of three stencils which enables you to create for different designed panels using at least three different colours. You could use the 4 panels to make four cards, but as I like decorating the inside of my cards, I used one of the designs for the inside. I also used the stencil again to just create the two background panels, so I could make two cards allowing me to use both the party hat and present stack.

I used the coordinating Birthday Present die to die cut out the present stack. For the party hat I had to cut it out by hand as I haven't been able to purchase that die down here in Australia and postage ordering from Taylored Expressions is too expensive for international shipping.

I added the "It's Your Birthday" sentiment using MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Sentiments stamp set and Taylored Expressions Simple Strips die set.

For the inside of the card I added the fourth panel. I added the birthday sentiment using LDRS Creative's Essential Birthday Sentiments stamp set.

Hooray for Today

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today is my birthday, so we are finishing up this Birthday Week Posts on my blog this week with one more birthday card. This time I have created a pop up card using some of the stamps and dies from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Book Wiper Pop Up Collection which was released earlier in the year. Last month I shared a nursery themed book card using the Pop Up Book die, but I didn't add the additional pop-up to that one. As you can see in the photo above, the balloons pop-up at the top of the card. You can also include a pop up coming from the bottom of the book, but that would be harder to display so I haven't done that as yet.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

To create my card I used the 6in x 6in Pop-Up Book Mechanism Pop-up Wiper die set to create the book pages pop up the book. I added the birthday image and sentiment to the centre of the book using the Pop Up Wiper Happy Birthday stamp set.

To add the balloons to the top of the card, I used the Wiper Mechanism die set adding the balloons from the Pop-up Birthday die set both also from the Pop-up Wiper Book Collection.

Here is a view of my card taking at an angle, so you can see how the book pops up. On the last book card I made, I added foam tape between all the pages, which made it a little bulky. I decided not to do that for this one, so the card folds fairly flat.

To decorate the front of my card I used the Happy Days stamp/die set from the Made To Surprise Simple Pop-ups Collection.

For all the square matts and layers on my card I used square dies from Creative Craft Products Nested Squares die set.

Eat Cake & Celebrate

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another birthday card with you all. Last year Jennifer McGuire did a YouTube Tutorial on doing shaped Easel Cards, using dies from Poppy Stamps. One of the dies she used was this Floral Cake Pop Up Easel Set, later when I was on Craftstash I noticed they had it in stock so as I was placing an order I added it to my stash.

This die came with an additional die set ... Layer Cake Drip Icing, which created the icing (brown) for the two tiers of the cake.

I added the swirly icing further down the cake, layering two colours together. I die cut three candles layering three together to make sure they we strong, seeing they were standing at the top of the cake.

I added a sentiment as a stopper at the base of my card, so that it is easy to keep the card open when needed. The sentiment is from The Greetery's Sentiment Suite Birthday stamp set. I layered the sentiment using oval dies from Creative Craft Products.

I added flowers (also included in the cake die set around the sentiment and also on the left side of the cake where the two tiers join.

Here is my card when it is folded ready to be placed in an envelope. Because of the height of the candles, this card will fit into a 5 x 7 envelope.

Happy Blooming Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a floral birthday card I created recently.

It's been a little while since I played with my Rockin' Rectangle Pop-up die set from Karen Burniston, this is such a fun die set. I love creating the acetate front version of this card which is what I did today.

To decorate my card I used the Pinkfresh Studio's Sunflower Washi with the coordinating die set. The is a rectangle panel underneath all those sunflowers, but I layered the flowers and leaves up a fair bit, so you can only see small parts of the rectangle layers.

The sentiment is combining of sentiments from two stamp sets, one from Made to Surprise (floral hug) and the remainder of the words from Honey Bee Stamps.

I decorated the left hand panel on the front of the card using Crafter's Companion's Chevron Lattice die set. I added brown jewels to each of the points in the design.

I also added a birthday sentiment using another Made To Surprise stamp set.

You Are Tu-tu Cute

Hi Crafty Friends,

Apparently today is World Puppetry Day, so I have created a puppet themed card to share with you today.

Last year I purchased the Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's It's Only A Puppet Collection, most of these have a Christmas theme to them, but one of the puppets you can create is a fairy (although I think it is more a ballerina). So I pulled out that die to create my card today.

As you can tell by looking at the two photos above when you pull the tab at the top of the card, the ballerina puppet's legs and arms moving up and down.

As you can see I created an Easel Card to create my ballerina puppet birthday card. I used floral patterned paper from Simply Made Crafts, for my background panel. This panel was die cut using the 6 x 6 Card Base Mechanism die set, which cuts the card to the size needed for a 6 x 6 card, complete with the holes and slots of the puppet to operate. I ended up cutting my panel down slightly after adding the puppet as I didn't need it quite that big.

For the ballerina/puppet, I added the tutu using ombre glitter card in pinks. I stamped the "pull" to the pull tab using one of the stamps from Sam's Push Me Pull Me stamp set.

I looked through my stash for some dance themed sentiments and found a stamp set from Waffle Flower that had a couple I thought suited the ballerina. The stamp set is an older from called Tu-tu Cute. I white embossed the sentiment onto pink cardstock and trimmed it down to size. The sentiment was one line, but as it didn't fit into the space I cut it into two.

I also added the "11" layering it to circle dies which I adhered to the upper right hand corner of the card.

For the stopper on the base of the card which helps hold the card upright, I used the bow border from the 6 x 6 Excellent Edges die set. I die cut the bow from dark pink cardstock and the layer from light pink. I white embossed a birthday sentiment to the back section of this border before adhering to the base of my card with foam tape.

The sentiment is from MFT Stamps Bitty Birthday Sentiments stamp set.

I added a panel to the back of the card, this is a place to add another sentiment which is also from the Waffle Flower stamp set along with the ballet shoes. This panel is also a good place to write a personal message.

The card will fold flat to be placed in an envelope. My finished card measures approximately 5 1/2 inches square, but with the bump at the top of the card due to the pull tab it will fit into a 6 inch square envelope easily.
