Hoo's Up For A Fun Halloween

Hi Crafty Friends,

Happy Halloween!

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Rebecca Ednie our challenge hostess for the month, finishes off the month with one last challenge.

Rebecca tells us ... that she  loves decorating her home in fall with pumpkins of unusual colours. Hers are purple, ivory and gold. So for our challenge this week, make a card or other project using pumpkins or gourds in any colours EXCEPT yellow or orange.

I hadn't planned on buying any Halloween themed stamps this year, Halloween isn't big in Australia like it is in the USA. But them a couple of months ago MFT Stamps released this cute Halloween Hoo stamp set which included 5 cute owls dressed up for Halloween, I tried to resist them but as you can see I ended up adding them to my cart!

I also recently purchased Mama Elephant's Slim Woodland die, when I started making this card I had all intentions of making a snowy Christmas scene using this die. But as I was looking at the die cut I could see how it could work for a Halloween card too, so I popped the white die cut back into the die packaging and die cut a black one instead.

For the background of my card I blended Distress Oxide Inks in Dusty Concord; Seedless Preserves; Wilted Violet and Black Soot. I then splattered the background all over using white paint. I die cut a circle and added that towards the right side of the card to represent the moon.

When I purchased the owl stamp set, I also purchased MFT Stamps Spooky Fence Die-namics which is Slimline size. I wanted to include that in this card, so I added it to the middle area of the scene above the ground.

I stamped and cut out 7 pumpkins from the Halloween Hoo stamp set and colored them in various colors excluding yellow or orange which normally would be my go to colors. I then added the owls to the card to complete the scene.

For the inside of the card I used MFT Stamps Stitched Slimline Snow Drifts Die-namics to add the black hill to the bottom of the card. I also die cut the Spooky Fence again from black cardstock and carefully curved it to match the top of the ground.

I added a sentiment to the centre of the card and adhered three of the owls to the card.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Oh My Whiskers

Hi Crafty Friends,

t's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  As challenge hostess for the month I finish off the month with one last challenge.

October is Black Cat Awareness month, incorporate a cat of any color on your card this week.

For my card today I decided to used Karen Burniston's Bitty Ball Pop-up and Animal Add-Ons die sets. Rather than add the cat to the inside of a card, or have it in a pocket card, I decided to create this stand alone Cat Pop-up Card. This way the recipient can have this on display after their birthday.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

As you can see I decided against creating a black cat and went for a brown/ginger colored cat instead.

After creating the bitty balls and adding the brown layers to each panel, I then die cut some panels from dark brown cardstock and cut triangles to create stripes for the cat.

I used vanilla cardstock to add the tip of the cat's tail and also the belly of the cat.

The cat is attached to the green circle (grass), using a brad which is inside the bottom bitty ball. The circles are die cut using the largest circle die in the Crosshatch Circles die set.

The cat bitty ball pop-up folds down flat, so it can be placed in a envelope.

I added a birthday sentiment to the base of my circle panel the cat is attached to. This sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps Purrrfect Sentiments stamp set. This is also a place to write a hand written greeting.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Merry Christmas Poinsettia Circles

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline Card using dies from Divinity Designs October 2020 Blessings Box which is available now.

I used the Slimline Card Base; Slimline Layering Rectangles and Slimline Rectangles to create the Slimline portion of the card.  The top rectangle on this card uses one of the papers from the Shine Bright Paper Pads.

To decorate the Slimline card I used the new Poinsettia Pattern die set which creates the Circle Die cut. I die cut this design twice from white cardstock and while the cardstock was still in the die, I embossed the imaged and then added color to the detail areas using a blending brush. I used one of the circles from the Circles die set to layer the design onto. This was then adhered to my slimline card.

I created two red poinsettias using the flower dies included in the die set.

I used the Vintage Labels die set to create the panel for the sentiment which I adhered to the centre of my card. I then used the Merry Christmas with Layers die set to add the sentiment.

To finish off the card I added gold colored gems to the centre of all of the poinsettia's on the background and the red flowers.

For the inside of the card I added a sentiment from the Keep Christ in Christmas Stamp/Die Duos set which I layered using the Ovals and Double Stitched Ovals die sets.

Sending Hugs Rainbow Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

I needed a couple of thinking of you/get well cards this month. I have had the Catherine Pooler Designs Rainbow Slimline die sitting on my desk for a few weeks, so I decided to pull that out to make one of the cards.

I used the die to die cut a piece of white cardstock. I put the rainbow pieces aside and used gold paint to splatter all over the base of the card. I then adhered this to a 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch top folding card.

I used Catherine Pooler inks in Rockin' Red; Orange Twist; Sauna; Lime Rickey and All That Jazz to add color to each of the individual rainbow pieces. I then paper pieced these into their respective holes.

I added the hugs sentiment which is from Pinkfresh Studios Phrase Builder: Sending die set. I then finished off the sentiment using Catherine Pooler Designs One Liners Sentiments stamp set.

For the inside of the card, I cut three thin strips from white cardstock and used the same inks I used on the front to add color to them. These were then adhered to the bottom of the card.

I added the sentiment which is from Uniquely Creative's Sweet Sentiment Builder stamp set.

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created using new dies from Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC.

Most of Karen's Design Team have become addicted to creating Slimline Cards this year, so we were very excited when we discovered that Karen had designed three Slimline style die sets as part of this release. For my card today I have used two of those new sets.

First up I used the new Long Rectangles - Crosshatch die set to create the various layers for this card. Every second rectangle in the set is designed with the crosshatch pattern around the edge.

I used the new Slim Frames die set to create the two frames which I die cut from gold,  green and white cardstock.

I used some of the dies from the Winter Charms die set to create the stockings and fillings. For the top stocking I added some lumps of coal (yes these are included in the die set). The second stocking contains a bear and candy cane.

I added a Naughty or Nice? sentiment in between the frames.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card. I die cut the largest rectangle from the Long Rectangles - Crosshatch die set from patterned paper. This was cut in half and adhered to both inside edges of my card.

I then created the double pop-up using the Katherine Labels Pop-up die set. I created two more frames the same as the ones on the front of the card. I then added the "Merry" and "Christmas"  from the Word Set 3 - Holiday die set to each of the frames.

Well that is about it from me today, thank you for dropping by. To continue on the blog hop, click on the next person on the list which is the fabulous Lois Bak

Birthday With Everything On It!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a birthday card I created recently using some of the new dies from the upcoming November release.

I used Karen Burniston's Fancy Label Accordion die set to create the base of my card, die cutting the main die in the set from red and mustard colored cardstock. I used the new dot border from the Fancy Winter Frames die set which is a new die set being released this month. I die cut this using the same colors as the base, just flipping the colors for the panels.

To decorate my card I used the Fast Food die set which was released back in August. I added the food images to each of the end panels.

In the centre panel I added a sentiment which is a very old stamp from Darcie Stamps.

Here is a look at my card when the card is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. The image which is visible when the card is open, pivots when the card is closed, so it can be seen on the front of the card.

Copper & Silver Celebrate

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Rebecca Ednie our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently one of Rebecca's favorite  colours to use in the fall is copper. Create your card using copper accents. Maybe some copper embossing, mirror cardstock, metal embellies like paperclips, brads, sequins, eyelets or gems.

I seldom use copper in any of my cards I create, but fortunately I did have a few sheets of Copper metallic/pearlescent cardstock in my stash so of course I pulled that out.

I recently received Your Next Stamp's Slim Stripe Panel die set which I have been wanting to play with. I decided to use that for my card today and have a copper/black color combo. As you can see I also added sliver to my card for some extra interest.

I used Catherine Pooler Designs Celebrate Die for the large sentiment which I covered with Copper Glitter and then layered to a white and black oval and adhered to the centre of the card.

I added a birthday sentiment from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips - Birthday stamp set with coordinating dies.

I also added a few copper flat gems randomly around the card.

For the inside of my card I die cut another of the Slim Stripe Panels from black cardstock and paper pieced the copper and silver stripes into the panel. This was then cut in half and adhered to both edges of my card.

I decided to create a double pop-up using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. I have created double Katherine Label Pop-ups previously but hadn't thought about using them in Slimline cards which I will be doing a lot more in the future.

I added to birthday sentiments from an older MFT Stamps birthday greetings stamp set.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Sparkling Snowflakes

Hi Crafty Friends

Today we are taking a look back at Divinity Designs October Release. For more inspiration using the October Release and to see the other designers projects, be sure to visit the Divinity Designs Blog .

For my card today I created a Stair Step Pop Out card, using Divinity Designs Stair Step Pop Out Card with Layers die set. For the layers of my card I used papers from the Serenity Snowflakes Slimline Paper Pad.

To decorate the card I used the Sparkling Snowflakes Stamp/Die Duo Set and the Joy To the World Script die set.

adhered the Stair Step card into a side folding card using the A2 Landscape Card Base with Layers die set.

To decorate the front of the card, I white embossed the two larger snowflakes included in the Sparkling Snowflakes Stamp/Die Duos and layered them on top of each other.

I then used the Merry Christmas with Layers die set to add the Christmas sentiment to the card.
