Sew It's Your Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Today I am sharing a sewing themed Slimline Flip and See Card I created for a friend who likes sewing.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

To create the interactive Flip and See portion of my card, I used Made to Surprise by Sam Calcott's DL Flip and See die set. This die allows you to create a Slimline/DL sized card with either 1, 2, 3 panels that flip up and down.

To decorate my card, I combined two different Lawn Fawn stamp sets ... Sew Very Mice and Sewn With Love. The sentiment in the centre of the panel that is revealed when the front flaps flip up is from Creative Craft Products/Craft Stash.

For the inside of the card I added a couple more of the images from Lawn Fawn. The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp.

Birthday Wishes

Hi Crafty Friends,

My card today is a Birthday themed Mini Slimline Pop-up card that I created recently.

My Mini Slimline card measures 3 1/2 inches x 6 inches. I used Mini Slimline dies from Divinity Designs to cut the card base and the layers.

To decorate my card I used Waffle Flower Crafts new Stacking Box die and the coordinating stencil set. I die cut the box lids from white glitter cardstock and the bows from holographic card.

For the background of my card I used Made To Surprise's Ditsy Embossing Folder.

For the sentiment I used Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes stamp/die set embossing both sentiments using silver embossing powder.

Finally I added some matte silver pearls randomly around the card.

For the inside of my card I created a pop-up card using Waffle Flower Crafts Inside Pop-up Stacks die set. I again used the coordinating stencil to decorate the layers and the Stacking Box die set to add the white glitter lids and holographic bows to each of the presents.

I added a birthday sentiment to the top right hand corner.

Finally I added a strip of holographic card to each side edge of the card.

Party Like a Pineapple

Hi Crafty Friends,

According to the Days of the Year website, today (27th June) is International Pineapple Day and National Sunglasses Day ... so of course seeing I had dies that fitted both those themes, I had to make a card.

As you can see by the photo above, I have created a honeycomb card using Creative Craft Products' Pineapple die set from their Tropical Honeycomb Collection. This set includes dies to create both the pineapple and the sunglasses.

I created a Mini Slimline card using Karen Burniston's Short Rectangles - Crosshatch die set for the patterned paper background.

Normally I can fit a honeycomb card in an envelope, as I can fold the honeycomb paper back for mailing. However since I wanted to decorate the front of the pineapple as a face, this card will need to be delivered by hand or placed in a box.

The sentiment at the top right of the card is from Creative Craft Products' Tropical Sentiments stamp set.

Here is a look at the inside of my card. I computer generated the "If life gives you pineapples" sentiment. The "Cheers" and the images are all from the Creative Craft Products' Tropical Sentiments stamp set.

Glitz and Glam

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a fun card I created using the new Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Glitz and Glam Collection which was released in May.

I wanted to use something I hadn't seen anyone else do with this collection so far, so I pulled out my Terrific Towers 5 x 7 Landscape die set to create my card. The make up bag fits perfectly on the rectangle panel that is in the centre of the card.

I die cut the Terrific Tower card base from white cardstock and then used holographic card stock for the middle layer. I used one of the patterned papers from the Glitz and Glam paper pack, the solid colour card is from the Creative Craft Products Glitz and Glam Colour Match Paper Pack.

To decorate the card I used images from the Glitz and Glam Ephemera Pack included in the collection. The "Happy Birthday" at the bottom of the card is from the Glitz and Glam Patterned Paper Pack.

Here is another view of the card, this time when it is lying on the desk. Hopefully you can see the side panels a little better.

For the back of the card, I decorated the panels using the same paper pad I used on the front. The large sentiment topper is also from that paper pad. The "Birthday Wishes" sentiment is from the Foiled Sentiments A5 Sticker Sheet pack also included in this collection.

For my card today I have used the new House of Cards Pop-up die set ... this is such a fun die set and one that will be great for male cards too. When I first saw this die I thought of the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, so that is what I did for my card.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

The House of Cards die set, come complete with the "A" for Ace and the four suits (hearts; diamonds, Spades and Clubs) so you can make your own playing cards if you want to. For my card I used a set of mini playing cards that I have had for years to die cut all the playing cards. I had a clean up earlier in the year and I debated throwing these out as I hadn't used for years ... I am glad I didn't. I believe KB Riley will also be selling Mini Playing Cards if you want to use them.

My card is a 5 inch x 7 inch card, and I added a gusset to the centre of the card. I ended up building up 4 rows of playing cards.

The stamped images used on this card are all from La-La Land Crafts.

I used the smaller rectangles from the Rectangles - Crosshatch die set to the lower right hand corner of my card, for a place to write a personal greeting.

The "You're A Big Deal" sentiment comes from the new Word Set 17 - Congratulations die set.

I kept the front of my card fairly simple, seeing the focus of the card is the inside. I used the same layer for the pattern papers.

I used the Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow die sets to add the birthday sentiment. I found a smaller playing card set in my stash, so I took the aces out of there to add above the sentiment.

I added one more stamped image to the right hand side of the card.

Well that's about it from me today, thank you for dropping by. To continue on the blog hop, click on the next person on the list, which is  Jennifer Webster

Goodbye Minnie!

Hi everyone,

I am sad today as I had to say goodbye to a precious member of my family, my dog Minnie.

Minnie came into our lives about 8 years ago, she was a rescue dog. The person looking after her was surprised that she had come to me and allowed me to pick her up. She picked us!

From day one, Minnie showed how much she loved us and she didn't let me out of her sight very often. Even if she was sitting on my husbands lap, she had one eye looking at me and if I moved she would be quick to jump down and follow me.

She wasn't one for toys, but she had her pink piggy that she carried around with her that she loved.

We didn't even know she was sick, she woke up today and was breathing funny so we had to take her to the vet. Unfortunately she pass away not long after being there.

I will miss your loving face, staring at me on the couch opposite me, your footsteps following me around. And your happy dances when I came home.

Goodbye my darling …. I love you and will miss you so very very much!

Chess Wanted To Say

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have one more sneak peek to share with you today, showing of of the new dies being released by Karen Burniston on Friday 23rd June.

For my card today I created a 5 inch x 7 inch pop-up card using the knight and pawn dies included in the new Game Charms die set. These two dies were perfect to use to create this male themed card. I die. cut the two chess pieces several times from white cardstock and then used ink to add the colour to the pieces.

To create the chess board I cut 1 inch squares from black and white cardstock, cutting eight of each. I then pieced these together to make the board. I layered the checkered pattern onto dark grey cardstock and then onto red cardstock.

I used the second largest rectangle from the Rectangles & Labels - Crosshatch die set to die cut all the patterned paper panels on the card, both inside and out.

For the sentiment, I used the Mini Alphabet and Numbers die set to create the "Chess" word. I then added the "Wanted To Say" sentiment using a stamp set.

For the inside of my card, I created a pop-up card using the Little Labels Pop-up die set. I decorated the pop up panel using the knight and pawn in both colours. I also computer generated the sentiment for the centre label.

I used the checkered portion of the picnic blanket from the Picnic Elements die set to create my chess boards. I cut each piece down so it was 8 squares and then used the square dies from the Surprise Cube die set to add the layers.

I added the birthday sentiment to the chess boards on the lower base of my card.

Blooming Marvellous Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing another sneak peek using one of the new dies being released by Karen Burniston this coming Friday 23rd June. This time around I am showcasing the Twist Flower Pop-up die set.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

I decided to create a Mini Slimline card using the Twist Flower Pop-up, adding the pop-up flower to the centre of my card. If you make a Slimline card, you can fit 3 flowers down the centre.

The large flower, centre, leaf and flower border are all included in the die set.

On the lower left hand corner of my card, I added a sentiment using a stamped sentiment for the first part of the sentiment and then using the "birthday" from Karen Burniston's Word Set 2 - Birthday die set.

For the layers on the inside and outside of my card, I used the largest rectangle from the Short Rectangles - Crosshatch die set.

I added two flowers to my panel and a stamped birthday sentiment.

I decorated the centre of the flowers with jewels, gluing each jewel into the circle that was die cut into the flower centre.

Fence Accordion

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am excited to share my first sneak peek of the new dies being released by Karen Burniston on Friday 23rd June. This time round there will be 9 dies being released.

Two of the dies being released are add-on sets for the Landscape Rectangle Accordion card. There is a Fence Add-On and Cupcake Add-on. For my card today I am using the Fence Add-On die set.

As you can see by my first photo, I have created three pages for my card, two included the fence add-on and the centre panel is using the normal page from the Landscape Rectangle Accordion die set.

For the patterned layers I die cut each page using the main die from the Landscape Rectangle Accordion die set and then I used the largest die from the Small Rectangles - Crosshatch die set.

I used one of the flowers and grass from the Add-on die set to decorate my card.

I used the dog from the Dog and Cat die set to add the dog to the front fence panel.

For the centre panel of my card, I used another of the rectangle dies from the Small Rectangles - Crosshatch die set to create the white panel. I also added another flower to the right edge of this panel. The sentiment is from a Crafter's Companion stamp set.

On the third page, I added three more flowers to the fence, you can only see two on the photo however there is another next to the one on the left side.

Here is a look at the front of my card, when it is closed ready to put in an envelope. I added a pink heart to the centre of the fence so I could add another sentiment.
