Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Pop up card using one of the new pop up die sets from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott’s Say It With Words Collection.

For this one I used the Fa La La Pop up die set. 

To decorate my card, I pulled out Spellbinders penguins from the July 26 Small Die of the Month.

The sentiment is an old Mama Elephant one that I love to pull out when adding penguins to a Christmas card.

I added greenery to the top of the card using a die set from Altenew.

I kept the front simple, adding pattern paper from the collection and then adding Merry Christmas 

A Little Fly-By

Today I am sharing a fun Slimline Pop-up card using new products from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott.

For this card I used the Spread Your Wings die set from the Another Surprise Inside Collection which was released in July. This die set includes dies to create a butterfly pop-up card as I have done here. But it also includes a number of smaller butterflies which can be used to embellish the card.

I love that it fits inside a Slimline card.

I added a sentiment to the top section of the card, which is from the new Verses & Sentiments stamp set also from the Another Surprise Inside Collection.

For the front of the card, I added the two patterned papers I used on the inside of the card. 

The "Hello" sentiment is from the Big Words die set. I also added a few of the smaller butterflies included in the Spread Your Wings die set.

Karen Burniston - KB Riley LLC July 2026 Release Blog Hop

For my card today I decided to use the new Gazebo Stage Add-ons & Little Bench Pop-up die sets along with the Stage Pop-up die set to create this fun Christmas project which can be both a card and an ornament.

To decorate my card, I added Christmas trees on the front using the larger tree in the Winter Charms die set. I also added another tree on the gazebo which is from the Evergreen Pivot Panels Pop-up die set. 

Of course I need a Santa, so I pulled out the Gnome & Santa die set for that, adding it just in front of the little bench on the gazebo.

The holly on the. roof is from Fireplace Extras 1 die set, and the Christmas lights on the front are from the Christmas Borders 1 die set.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. I measures approximated 6 1/4 inches x 7 1/2 inches. I am showing it with the stage base under the railing, but you could also fold it so the base is in the centre which will mean it would be 6 1/4 x 5 3/4. 

I added a sentiment to the gazebo roof which is from the Christmas Wishes Clear Stamp set. I also added one under the base, which is where you can also write your message, this stamp is from the Season of Cheer Clear Stamp set.

Today I am back with another sneak peek of new dies being released by Karen Burniston later this week. For this card I used the Tool Box Pop-up die set again along with the Six Pack Add-ons die set to create this Slimline male card for Father's Day.

I love that the tool box pop up can play double duty to use for someone that likes tools or for someone who likes beer or even soda.

I also used the Beer & Soda Clear Stamp set to add the sentiments you see on this card.

I wanted to make a Slimline card, to allow for the space needed for the bottles, I made my slimline card 3 3/4 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall.

I added labels from the Label Greetings die set to have a place for my sentiments and also a personal greeting.

I kept the front of my card fairly simple and used the Happy Father's Day sentiment which I layered over two ovals from the Crosshatch ovals die set. (Father's Day isn't until September down in Australia, so I have plenty of time to use it).

I also added a beer glass, beer bottle and opener to the lower left hand corner of my card.

 

Tool Box Pop-up

Today I am excited to share a sneak peek of the new products being released by Karen Burniston on Thursday 23rd July.

For my card today I have used the new Tool Box Pop-up die set along with the Tool Box Stage Add-Ons and the Tool Box Charms die sets.

The tool images included in the Tool Box Pop-up die set are the same as the ones included in the existing Tool Box Charms die set, the only difference is they are mirror image which means you can back your tools if you like so they can be seen complete however you turn the card.

I used the base from the Tool Box Stage Add-Ons to create the border on either side of the edge of my card.

For the sentiment I used the Tool Times Sayings which is a new Clear Stamp set being released. I used one of the labels from the Greetings Labels die set to add the sentiment and a blank one on the top right for a hand written message.

Here is a view of my card from the back, so you can see the back of the tool box.

I kept the front of my card fairly simple, adding the border the same as the inside of the card. I added a Father's Day sentiment from the Fishing Clear Stamp set. 

Make A Splash

Today I am sharing a fun 5 x 7 Pop up card with a see through front. This is called a 2 Tier card, you can find the tutorial by Sam Calcott here.

For my card I started with the background which was created using Hero Arts Lake of Legends Stencil set. To decorate the card I used the Gentle Giant die set. 

I didn’t want to hide too much of the background or the sea creature, so I changed the sizes and number  of my tiers. Sam’s card used 3 pop ups, I opted for 2. 

I used the stencil to continue the water on my pop up panels. 

Here you can see my card when it is closed. As it has acetate on the front panel, you can see most of the inside when it is closed.

I added a panel on the back, so I could add a sentiment and have space to write a personal message to the recipient.

For my card today, I decided to play with the new Photo Display Pop-up die set, rather than use photos on the pop up I decided to use Alphabet dies to spell out Happy BDay .... there would be many different occasions you could spell out using this die. I also love how easy it is to use this pop up.

I had a blank space at the side of the back pop up, so I add the hot air balloon from the Love is in the Air Charms set which is also a new die from this release.

To decorate the card I added two hot air balloons, using the new Hot Air Balloon die set. I wanted this card to have a masculine feel. I also added some grass along the bottom edge of my card, using the Nature Edges die set.

For the front of the card, I again used the Hot Air Balloons die set to add more hot air balloons to my card. I added two sentiments, one from the Love Notes Clear Stamp set and the other from the Stage Scenes Clear Stamp set. I used one of the labels from the Greeting Labels die set to die cut the sentiments.

November 2025 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Welcome to our November Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .. "FUN FACES" - Use the Fun Faces 1 Stamp set on a card of any theme.

I wanted to make a Christmas card, so I pulled out the Fun Faces 1 stamp set and the Gnome and Santa die set for this challenge.

For the pop up portion of the card, I used the Lorna Labels Pop up along with the Merry Christmas Lorna Add-ons die set. 

I added a snowy border along the bottom of the card using white glitter cardstock and the Nature Edges die set.

I used the reindeer from the Christmas Animals die set which I added to my snow. 

To finish decorating the inside of my card, I die cut the trees from the Evergreen Pivot Panels die set. I used the Fun Faces 1 stamp set to add faces to all the trees. I also added a few snowflakes from this die set to decorate the top portion of the card.

For the front of the card, I repeated the snow, reindeer & trees (complete with faces) to create a wintery scene. 

I added a stamped sentiment to the top left corner of the card, using the Christmas Wishes stamp set & a label die from the Crosshatch Rectangles & Labels die set.
