Christmas Family Room Scene

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Karen Ostergard our challenge hostess for July continues to issue the challenges.

Our challenge this week is Christmas in July. Create a Christmas / holiday themed card.

I have created a Christmas Family Room Pop-up scene using dies from Karen Burniston. Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

I had made a couple of cards recently using the new Family Room Pop-up die set which is the couch/chair and lamp (not all of these have been posted on my blog yet). Anyway after making those I wondered whether I could include it with the Pop-up Christmas tree, which is an older Karen Burniston die set.

I created a gatefold card which measures 5 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches tall when folded. So each gatefold panel is 2 1/2 inches wide. This way I could have a pop-up on both folds of the card. I kept the Family Room Pop-up  towards the back of the card and the Christmas Tree to the front.

I recently purchased a stamp set at a craft show, which is of a girl reading a book sitting on a couch. It's from an Aussie Company called Uniquely Creative. I stamped the girl and cut her out and added her to the couch on my card.

I used the Ovals - Crosshatch to add a rug in front of the couch. This has been cut in half so it allows for the fold of the card.

I added a smaller oval with a stamped sentiment to the top left hand corner of the card, you can see it peeking out behind the Christmas tree.

Here is an overhead view of my card so you can see the whole card at one time.

I added presents from the Sleigh Pop-up and Birthday Charms die sets which I have scattered around the scene.

As the focus of this card is all on the inside, I kept the front of the card very simple. I added a belly band to help keep it shut and added some more ovals from the Ovals - Crosshatch die set and added the Merry Christmas sentiment which has been glittered.

Here is another photo of the front of the card, this time with the belly band removed.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Absolutely ADORE this! I'd wondered if I could get both in the same card!
