Hi everyone,
The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, April Showers bring May Flowers! Look forward to an assortment of flower-filled creations from today's participating designers. Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have a project to share with you today.
For my first card today I have used LJD Peaceful Wildflowers stamp set, I stamped the flowers using Black Licorice Ink onto Kraft Card Stock. This was layered using Black Licorice Card Stock. Along the bottom of the card I added a strip of card decorated using LLD Border It - Mod Borders stamp set, along the top of this piece I added a border using the Die-namics Dotted Scallop Border Trio .
I used the Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX for the sentiment which is from the LJD Sweet Roses stamp set. I know Mother’s Day is over but I am getting in an early start for next year … I need to supply my daughters with cards for 2014 . I also embellished the sentiment piece using a Kraft Button and Hemp Cord which I colored black before attaching it to my card.
To finish of the front of my card I added butterflies to the top of the card using Die-namics Butterflies.
Here is the inside of my card … I added a border across the bottom of my card using the LLD Border It - Mod Borders stamp set and Black Licorice Ink. I also stamped a couple of flowers and a sentiment from the LJD Peaceful Wildflowers stamp set.

For my second card today I used LJD Pretty Poppies stamp.
To create this card I used a technique called the Acrylic Block Collage Technique. I inked up the back of a rectangle acrylic block (yes the ones that normally hold your stamps) using Lemon Drop ink; Orange Fizz ink and Red Hot ink. By starting with the lightest color first you won’t contaminate your ink pads. One my block was inked up I then spritz it with a little water and stamped it onto the middle of my Smooth White Card Stock. Don’t worry about any imperfections or blemishes as that just adds to the look.
Next I masked around the edge of what I had just stamped using postage notes … so all the white edges were protected. Then I used the long word stamps from the LJD Pretty Poppies stamp set and stamped that using the same color ink onto each color block. You could stamp anything you liked in this step if you wanted to.
Finally I inked up the poppies and sentiment using Black Licorice Ink so that they were overlapping the colored block slightly. This was then layered onto my Smooth White card base with Black Licorice Card Stock.
Here is the inside of my card … I added a Poppy and sentiment from the LJD Pretty Poppies stamp set and Black Licorice Ink .
