Look Whoo's Having A Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing my first card I created using my new WRMK Foil Quill pens which works with electronic cutters including the Scan & Cut.

One of the most interesting items I saw that was shared at Creativation earlier in the year, was the Foil Quill. When I saw the videos of this online, I knew I would need it. Well it finally arrived in Australia at the end of April and I managed to get one for Mother's Day.

I spent most of the day, playing with the foil quill to make this card. Of course being an owl lover, the owl was the first thing I foiled and that only took a few minutes to do. I found the SVG file on the So Fontsy site.

The background was a freebie I found online through the WRMK Foil Quill for Everyone Facebook Group, again this didn't take long to foil.

I had wanted to create sentiments that were foiled too, however it turns out I needed a program called Inkscape to create SVG files to import into Canvas. Well believe it or not this was the hardest part of the whole process. Because I have a Mac, I first needed to download and install another program before I could download Inkscape. Well after a couple of hours and watching a few YouTube videos I finally got it all downloaded and able to open it.

I tried a few times to create my sentiments and foil them, but each time the sentiments showed an outline rather than solid which wasn't what I wanted. So I finally decided to gold emboss sentiments I have with stamp sets instead ... phew!

To finish off the front of the card I added a few jewels randomly over the card, including the owls eyes.

For the inside of the card, I decided to use the leftover foil from the foiled background used on the front. I covered a piece of black cardstock with adhesive and then placed the leftover foil over the top and used my bone folder to rub it onto the adhesive. I then used my anti static tool to remove any remaining adhesive on the panel.

I added another owl themed sentiment to the top of the panel, this sentiment is from Art Impressions Chatting Hoots stamp set, which may be discontinued now as I have had it for a number of years.

Wow - hope you get it figured out after all that work. Nicely done with the foiling though!
