Karen Burniston/Pear Blossom Press Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today the Karen Burniston Design Team is collaborating with Pear Blossom Press.   Karen Burniston & Pear Blossom Press Design Teams have come together to hold a blog hop showcasing products from both companies.

For information of prizes and a special discount code for both companies, see the bottom of this post.

Pear Blossom Press have a super fun product called EZ-Light, this product contains a battery holder, batter and set of three tiny lights for you to create fun light up  cards. This product is super easy to use and is perfect to light up any style of card, including pop-up cards. You can find out more info on EX-Lights over on the Pear Blossom Press website.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

For my card today I used Karen Burniston's Train Pivot Panels to create my pop-up card. I created three panels using tree patterned paper. I added the ground to the base of each panel using the snow/dirt border from the Nature Edges die set.

Before assembling my card I needed to work out my scene, so I knew where my lights would be going and where to add the battery pack etc.

As you can see by the photo above, I used two of the lights that were attached to the battery pack for my railway sign on the right hand side of the card and the other on the window of the house on the left hand side.

The battery pack is attached to the bottom left hand side of the card and I have adhered an oval over the top using two layers of foam tape. I love that I don't have to have double layers of foam tape for the whole card, just the battery pack area. The wires and lights are so fine, that they are hidden under the decorated panels.

I die cut the train pivot panel section twice, once from kraft cardstock and once using the tree paper. I then cut this so that the wheels would be on the kraft cardstock and the rest of the train on the trees. This helps keep the scene seamless.

I added the train to the pivot panel. Before adding the engine, I stamps the engineer from Mama Elephants Little Agenda Trains stamp set and added him through the window of the train. I also stamps the girl engineer and placed her on the ground near where the train would pass by.

Here is a close up of the left side of the card. The house and individual trees are from the House Pivot Panels die set.

On the top left hand corner of the card, I added a stamped sentiment which is from a Kraftin' Kimmies Stamps stamp set.

The train tracks and Railroad Crossing Sign are both from the Train Elements die set.

For the front of my card, I used some of the same elements that I used on the inside of the card. The "All Aboard" sentiment is also from the Train Elements die set and is layered to an oval from the Crosshatch - Ovals die set.
