Sweet 16

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Tracey Farr our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently Tracey's daughter Melissa is turning 16 tomorrow, so for our challenge this week we are to make Sweet 16 cards.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

As you can see I have created a Slimline Card using Whimsy Stamps Slimline Waves die.

To decorate my card I used Karen Burniston's "You're Sweet!"; Numbers and Dolled Up Charms die sets.

I die cut the sentiment and age using pink glitter cardstock. I used the solid sun die from Karen Burniston's Landscape Scene die set to layer the numbers.

To finish off the card I added a few pink sequins.

After I created my Slimline card, I decided I wanted to add the new Pop 'N Swap die set to add the pop up inside the card. My Slimline Card is 3 1/2 inches wide and the Pop 'N Swap mechanism needs a 4 inch card. To make this fit into a 3 1/2 inch card I cut the top arm near the right hand side just above the top diagonal fold. I then worked out the size it needed to be to fit and glued the arm back to the diagonal piece I had just cut off. This was pretty easy to do.

Of course I also had to cut down the rounded rectangle which goes on top of the mechanism so it would fit into my card. I added a stamped birthday sentiment to the top white panel.

I added two small pink rectangles to both the arms at the top and bottom of the mechanism.

I added the perfume bottle to the top rectangle (sweet). And then added the number 16 to the bottom rectangle.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
