Keep On Clucking!

CCEE1407Chickens-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  Vicky Gould our challenge hostess for February continues to deliver us some fun challenges.

This week Vicky has challenged us to Punch Art – I don’t mean just punch out circles, ovals, etc. I mean use 3 or more punches to create something…no dies; just punches. Check out the gallery on SCS for ideas.

Ok so the challenge police are probably going to be after me this week …. but I don’t care, I like how my card turned out. Why will they be after me, well because it says no dies …. and I used a die for my card base. It’s the Pop It Ups Katie Label Pivot Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. Normally when I make this style of card I use a number of other dies as well but I limited it to just the two I needed to make the base and the label shape for the sentiment.

Here is a close up of the left side of my card when opened.

I used six different punches to create my punch art chickens. The body of the chicken is a large heart punch which has been cut in half and then for the comb I used a Momiji leaf punch. I used a larger Momiji leaf punch for the tail. The chickens beak is a Sakura punch and the wing is a teardrop punch and I cut 3 rays from a sun punch to create each of the chickens feet.

I could have used a tiny circle punch for the eyes, but I decided it would look cuter with googly eyes and I had already used more than the stipulated 3 or more punches Smile.

Here is another close up this time of the right side of my card. This chicken uses exactly the same punches as the one on the left, but I placed the feet and tail in a different position so that this one looks like he is bending over.

The sentiments used on this card are from Paper Pretties.

Here is the back of my card. On the front and inside of the card I added blue paper to the top portion to represent the sky, but seeing this is the back I decided to leave it plain … it is the back after all!

Great chickens!!! And as far as the challenge police go, I'm keeping my mouth shut. I've been looking at those dies myself. One of these days I'm going to relent and get one.

Oh goodness, I don't think using a die for the base counts at all. And since I spotted Vicky used a die for the vine her bananas are growing on, I'm doubly sure you're fine with the base. Leaves for the comb, feet and tail - I am so impressed. I'd never have thought of using those. I love your chickens, Frances.
