Elvis Always the Original

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Liz Williams our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Happy Birthday, Elvis!! Liz is challenging us to make him come alive in some way on our cards this week.( Maybe  a rock and roll theme, records, an Elvis or guitar stamp, or perhaps even “Blue Suede shoes.”) Anyway you can think to let the world know “the King” of tock and roll.

Of course this was the perfect opportunity to play with my Elvis stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms. These are some stamps I have had in my stash for over 10 years and unfortunately are no longer available .... fortunately I have a fair number I was able to purchase before they were discontinued.
I stamped the "Elvis Is" background stamp twice onto white cardstock using VersaMark ink and embossed using white embossing powder. I then applied Distress Oxide inks in reds over the entire background.
For the main image I used the "Elvis Alway the Original" stamp which is one of the last Elvis stamps I had purchased and until this challenge I hadn't used.
I added a few music notes from a Lawn Fawn die set to embellish the card.

For the inside of my card I created a pop up card using Karen Burniston's Spinner Square Pop-up die set. This card is fairly narrow for a Spinner Square Card so adding the "Elvis" word at the side of the Elvis image was a little tricky so it wouldn't be seen when the card was done.
I added another sentiment to the left hand side of the card.

Here is a look at my card as it is closing so you can see how the "Elvis" sentiment moves behind the square panel so it can't be seen.
Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

I love the red, black and white color scheme -- and that background stamp is super! Like lots and lots of people, I was a big Elvis fan.
