Penguin Kisses

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

Penguins - Apparently the 25th April was World Penguin Day ... feature penguins on your cards this week. Don't have penguins, then create a black and white card.

Recently I came across a fun new style of card while browsing on Facebook that was created by Anna Blankina. Anna posted the directions and a video over on To be able to find the tutorial you will first need to join Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends! Facebook Group. I am always looking for something different to create, so I decided to use that idea for my card today.

Edit: A few people have been asking for the tutorial and have had difficulty finding it. To be able to find the tutorial you will first need to join Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps' Krafty Friends! Facebook Group. Once you have done this, go to video and in the search box put in the name Anna Blankina. The video tutorial is dated 29th March and is over 1 hour long. (Please note that I live in Australia, so the date I see may vary by a day to those of you living in the Northern Hemisphere, but if you can see something around that time you should find it.

I had planned on using different penguins for this challenge, but after assembling this card using the bright rainbow patterned paper, I decided I needed something that might be a little more birthday/party related. After looking through my penguin stamps I decided to use an older Stampendous stamp set called Merry Muffins.

As I wanted to have a penguin on the two outer panels I needed to create a mirror image of the penguin/cupcake for the right hand panel. To create the mirror image I used my new Waffle Flower Mixed Media Mat which makes it so much easier to create a mirror image. I have only had this mat for less then a month and I have already used it twice to create a mirror image. Of course it is also fantastic to use when sponging ink onto cardstock.

I added stars around the card using the three star dies from Karen Burniston's Surprise Ball Pop-up die set.

For the sentiment in the centre panel I used a sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps stamp set and the Happy Birthday sentiment from MFT Stamps.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Hi there, I love this card. You are so much fun to follow. I went over to Kraftin' Kimmie's Stamp facebook page but I can't find the video you refer to on how to make the folds on the card. Can you give me a hint on how to find it?

Thanks much

This card is FABULOUS. I love the colors and always like a card that is "different" from cards I normally see. I looked for the instructions and couldn't find it. When I clicked on the link on Anna's name, my browser said it couldn't open it. I looked for it on the page and couldn't see it. Thanks for sharing this cheerful card!
