Surprise Ball Rabbits

Hi Crafty Friends,

With this Coronavirus keeping many of us around the world from seeing our families and friends to help keep us safe, I decided I would make my two Grandchildren something special for Easter. I was able to order some postage stamps online without having to venture to the shops, so it will be pretty easy to walk up to the letter box to mail these so they get them in  time for Easter.

I have made a number of Surprise Ball Animals over the past months, and most to the doubles I have also made a pocket for them. But for my rabbits today, I decided to keep them free standing. They can easily be popped into a large envelope, and the kids won't really be interested in the pocket only the rabbits.

Here is a quick video to see the rabbits in action.

To create the rabbits I used Karen Burniston's Surprise Ball Pop-up die set, I am amazed just how many ways you can use this die set and it is so fun to see these animals  come to life.

To add the features to the rabbits I used mostly a combination of oval & circle dies. Oval dies from various companies are all different, so it is handy I have a number of different nesting oval die sets, I wanted long ovals for the rabbits ears so used a mega oval die set from Spellbinders that I have had for years. For the arms and legs I used the oval dies from Karen Burniston's Crosshatch Ovals.

Of course Rabbits have fluffy tails, so I used a flower die from an old MFT Stamps Blueprints die set for this. I did die cut it from flocking paper so it would be soft.

Easter Rabbits have been very popular over on the Facebook Karen Burniston Peeps page. A while ago Boel Ask created a rabbit and did something special with the rabbits feet, as she was kind enough to create a tutorial on how to do this I used the technique to create my rabbits feet. I also added some paw prints to the feet using an old paw print die.

I used an old heart die to create the carrot, die cutting it from orange cardstock and then cutting it in half. I added the greenery to the carrot using a La La Lands Craft Palm Tree.

I gave both my rabbits a bow using an older MFT Stamps Blueprints die set.

For the base the rabbit is sitting on I die cut a large circle from patterned paper which I then adhered to a scalloped circle from a Crafter's Companion Easel Card die set.

I added a Happy Easter Sentiment to the bottom of the base of the card, I forgot to take a photo of this, however I did show it on the video above.

As you can see, the rabbit fold flat to make it  easy to pop in an envelope and mail.
