Life's A Picnic Accordion

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lois Bak our challenge hostess for the month, finishes off the month with one last challenge.

In the Northern Hemisphere it’s the middle of summer, and July is National Picnic Month. Include something on your card that would be part of a picnic (picnic basket, checkered tablecloth, picnic food, or even ants).

For my card today I decided to make a two page Accordion card using Karen Burniston's Landscape Rectangle Accordion die set. For the layers on the accordion I used the rectangle dies from the Short Rectangles - Crosshatch die sets.

I added the grass using the grass border die included in the Nature Edges die set.

To decorate each panel I used the Picnic Elements and the Sweet Treats Charms (watermelon) die sets.

The "Hi" sentiment is from Waffle Flower Crafts Popping Sentiments and the "Life's A Picnic" sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope. I added a few more ants on the corner of the front frame.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - July 2021

Welcome to our July Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "TAG BOOKS" - make a card featuring the Tag Book or Circle Tag Book. This includes switching out the pop-up inside for Pivot Panels or anything else, OR using the Tag Book pop-up mechanisms in a card.

For my card today I decided to pull out the Tag Book Pop-up die set and used a picnic theme to decorate it.

Here is a close up of the left side of my Tag Book. For the grass along the bottom edge of each tag/square I used the grass border from the Nature Edges die set.

The picnic basket, ants and bread is from the Picnic Elements die set. The apples on the square panel is from the Tree  Fruit Die set.

On the inner page of the main tag I added a tree using the Mini Trees die set.

For the right side of the tag book I added the watermelons which is from Sweet Treat Charms die set. All the images on the tag are all from the Picnic Elements die set.

The sentiment which is stamped on three of the panels is from Lawn Fawn's Crazy Antics stamp set.

For the front of the tag book I used the grass and picnic items from the Picnic Elements die set.

I added the "Hello" sentiment which is from Word Set 6 - Summer die set.

Here is a back view of my tag book, I just decorated it with the designer paper I used on the front of the tag book. I added ribbon and twine for the holes in the tag book.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - June 2021

Welcome to our June Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ...  "SET THE SCENE!" - make a card featuring scenery of any type.

I love creating scene for my cards and I also love making Slimline cards, so for today's challenge I decided to combine the two. I have created a Slimline Pop-up card that measures 3.5 inches x 8.5 inches.

For the inside of my card I die cut a panel of blue cardstock and four panels of green cardstock using the largest rectangle from the Crosshatch Long Rectangles die set. I used distress oxide inks to add some ink to the top portion of the blue rectangle panel. I used the grass die from the Long Nature Edges die set to create my grass panels, which I sponged using Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink. I then added the grass layers to the larger blue and green rectangle panel which was then adhered to the inside of my card.

I used the Tiny Trees Pop-up die set to create the four trees, two of which I adhered to the back panel.

I added the clouds & birds from the Outdoor Scenes die set to finish my sky area.

I used the Mini Pops Pop-up die set to pop-up the remaining two trees to the outside edges of the card. In the centre of my card I created a picnic scene using the Picnic Elements die set. The picnic basket and jug were popped up using another of the pop-up elements from the Mini Pops Pop-up die set. No picnic is complete without ants, so I added them to my scene as well.

To finish off the inside of the card, I added the "Hello" sentiment which is from Word Set 6 - Summer die set.

For the front of the card, I repeated part of the scene I created on the inside of the card using the same die sets.

Hello Sunshine 4 Flap Slimline

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today begins the sneak peeks of the new dies being released by Karen Burniston later this month. For my card today I am sharing a card that uses three of the new dies that are being released. The new dies I used on this are Slim Flaps and Frames; Tiny Trees Pop-up and Picnic Elements die sets.

A few months ago Karen Burniston shared a Slimline card she created which incorporated 4 flaps/doors which revealed pop ups on the inside of the card. This card was so popular that in this April release Karen has come up with a die set to create this style of card and others which is called Slimline Flap & Frames.

Here is a quick video to show my card in action.

As I had already created this style of card, I was excited to see this die set and of course couldn't wait to create another one.

This slimline card is 4 inches x 9 inches. I die cut the flaps from green cardstock and then used some of the layering dies included in the die set to decorate the flaps.

I used dies from the Sweet Treats Charms (watermelon), Wine Charms (wine bottle) Tropical Scenes (sun), Tiny Trees Pop-up (tree) to decorate the flaps. The sentiments used on the front are all from the Word Set 6 - Summer die set.

As mentioned above, this card incorporates 4 flaps/doors. The first flap lifts up, while the other three alternate either left or right.

When you open the first flap it reveals a pop-up using the pop-up included in the Mini Pops Pop-up die set. I added a watermelon from the Sweet Treats Charm set and the picnic basket, ant and bread from the Picnic Elements die set.

The second flap opens up towards the left side to reveal a pop up tree and picnic scene. The tree is from the new Tiny Tree Pop Up die set, this die set is going to be so much fun to use in future cards.

The picnic items are all from the Picnic Elements die set and I also added the Enjoy sentiment from the Enjoy the Ride die set.

Opening up the third flap reveals another tree and a raccoon holding a fork ... this was made using the Woodland Animals and Chicken, Pig and Lamb die sets.

Opening up the final flap reveals a third pop-up tree, a panel to write a personal message, some grass & ants.

The grass uses the grass die from the Nature Edges die set and the ants are also included in the Picnic Elements die set.

Each of the flaps are held closed by placing magnets under the patterned papers on the inside of the card. I found the magnets didn't work on the pop-up flap at the top of the card, so for this I used a fancy paper clip type element to close. I think the next card of this style I make, I will use 2 of those clips to close the flaps.
