Karen Burniston October Designer Challenge Day 2

Hi everyone,

As promised yesterday I am back with my second card for the October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

It's time for our October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. This time around the theme for our challenge is
Characters in Costume - We've seen amazing Character transformations (Steampunk Poppy, Cocoa Unicorn, Cocoa Zebra, Rudy White Stag, Vampire Hoppy, Honey Pooh, Hoppy Tree Frog, Reindeer Brownie, Sleeping Dutch, Monster Mouse, etc.) and now it's time to show off your costuming skills to transform a Character.

Before I get onto the details of my card - I wanted to share information of a sale from Elizabeth Craft Designs - this week from Monday 10 AM MDT to Friday they are offering a 20% discount off all  Characters and Props die sets.

For my card today I decided to create a Pivot Card using the Tags Pivot Card die set.

For the Character Costume part of the challenge I decided to use Poppy the Owl and dress her up in a Pumpkin Costume.

To create this i die cut all the pieces for Poppy the Owl as you normally would and then assembled all the pieces except for the feet. I cut around the wings so that the wings could be on top of the pumpkin costume. I then die cut the Pumpkin die set twice using orange card for the solid pumpkin and black for the outline and green for the stalk. I also used my Copic markers to add more shading to the orange areas. I cut the top of the pumpkin off my first pumpkin and added black marker to the top edge and attached this to the body of the owl, so the wings were on top. I then added the feet to the bottom of the pumpkin. I cut the hat from the second pumpkin and added it to the owls head. The owl was then attached using foam tape to the largest of the tags of my pivot card.

To finish off the front of my card I added the tree from the All Seasons Tree die set and turned it on its side so it becomes a branch. The tree is adhered to the front of the card just under the tag, so it looks like Poppy the Owl is sitting on the branch when the card is closed.

I also added the word "WHOOO" to the top right hand corner using the Alphabet 1 Caps die set.

On the inside of my card I have added the sentiment "Happy Halloween" onto one of the labels from the Lucy Label Pop Up Card die set and attached it to the tags on the right hand side of the card. To get the back outline around the tag I die cut two more of the labels cut one in half lengthwise and the other widthwise and adhered them under the label so the black border showed from the front.

As you can see I added extra leaves and pumpkin swirls to the holes of the tags.

I wanted a Halloween type border on the sides so decided to use the grass border from the Outdoor Edges die set die cutting in black.

Finally I added the pumpkin and leaves to the bottom of the card on each side.

Here is a view of the back of my card. I love that no matter which way you you turn this style of card you always have something of interest to look at.

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Craft Giraffe(formerly Photo Continental).
