Karen Burniston December Designer Challenge Day 1

Hi everyone,

It's time for our December Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. This time around the theme for our challenge is Home for the Holidays - Let's see how you can interpret the phrase. Use the House, Holiday House or Barn (or are you making a tree house?) or some sort of "home" on a Holiday card.

For my first card for this challenge I decided to create a Pop Up Card featuring an indoor Christmas scene on the inside of the card and a view of the house on the front of the card.

For the inside of my card, I started by joining to 6 x 6 pieces of paper together and trimming down the sides. I then used the Adirondack Chair Pop Up die set to create the Pop Up portion of the card. I die cut another chair in red designer paper which I layered over the base chair.

Of course no Christmas indoor scene is complete without a Christmas Tree, so for this I used the Christmas Trees Pop Stand die set. I used the inner portion of the large tree and die cut this four times and layered them together to get the height I needed.

The Presents are from two die sets ... the Evergreen Pivot Card and the Sleigh with Gift Card Holder Pop Up

I wanted a calendar to show the date so for this I used the numbers from the Clock and Gears die set. I die cut the numbers using white card that had Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape on the front and then added True Red Silk Microfine Glitter.  The fishtail banner is from the Lots of Pops Pop Up Card and the Rectangle is the accessory rectangle from the Gift Card Accordion Die which I die cut once and then moved my cut card in a little to make it smaller. I also used the hanger from the Fitted Frames 1 Lace Rectangles

I decorated the tree using Red/Gold Glitter Dots Peel Off Stickers and along the top and bottom edges of the card I added Red Glitter Border Peel Off Stickers

For the sentiment I used frames from both the Katie Label Pivot Card and the Katie Label Accordion Card so I could layer the labels.

The sentiment is from the Merry & Bright Clear Stamp Set

For the front of my card I created the house using the Holiday House die set. I added snow and trees using the Outdoor Edges die set. For the snow I added Transparent Double Sided Adhesive Tape to the front of White Soft Finish Card Stock and once die cut I added the Warm Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter

To finish off the card I added a sentiment from the Merry & Bright Clear Stamp Set and die cut the banner using the banner from the Lorna Label Pop Up Card .

If you are looking to purchase Karen's Pop It Ups dies in Australia you can find them at Craft Giraffe(formerly Photo Continental).

Don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus an amazing card/video tutorial from Karen Burniston.

I will be back tomorrow with another card I created for this challenge.

Perfectly cheerful holiday card. Such a fun way to use the Adirondack chair too.
