Karen Burniston/Brutus Monroe Collaboration Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends,

This week the Karen Burniston Design Team is collaborating with Brutus Monroe, they have lots of fun products which work well with Karen's die sets. Today the Karen Burniston Design Team is holding a blog hop showcasing products from both companies.

The hop started on the Karen Burniston blog, so if  you just happened to hop onto my blog you may want to head over there now so you can start at the beginning of the hop. You do want to miss anything and there is lots to see!

Karen Burniston and each of the Karen Burniston Design Team members will be offering a prize to some lucky person who comments on our blog posts, so make sure you join the hop and comment on everyone's blog post. The prize for my blog will be the Upsy Daisy Pop-up die set. You have until midnight EST 24th May to leave a comment on my blog for a chance to win the prize. (Note because this die won't be released until the first week of June, your prize will not be posted until then).

For my card today I have used Karen Burniston's new Upsy Daisy Pop-up die set to create the pop-up element of the card. This is one of the 12 new die sets which will be released in June. The two end squares are attached to the pop-up mechanism and the middle square is joined to the others using twine.

Along the bottom edge of the card I added the waves from the Tropical Scenes die set die cutting the waves from white cardstock that had adhesive tape on the front. I carefully trimmed off the release paper from the adhesive along the top wave part of the die cut above the stitching line. I then covered the adhesive with clear glitter and then I removed the remaining protective backing and covered with blue glitter.

I then stamped and cut out the boy and girl in the sailboat from Brutus Monroe's True Love Sailing Clear Stamp set and adhered to the lower right hand side of the card on the waves.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

Along the top edge of my card I added clouds using the scallop cloud border from the Nature Edges die set.

I stamped the sentiment which is included in the stamp set to black cardstock using white embossing powder and added it to the top left hand corner of my card.

To decorate my square panels that pop-up I added words from the new Words 6 - Summer die set.

Here is an overhead photo of my card so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little better.

I kept the front of my card simple seeing the focus is on the inside of the card. I stencilled a background on the card base.

I used Karen Burniston's Happy Birthday die which I die cut and then covered in the same blue glitter I used on the inside of the card. To layer the sentiments I used Karen Burniston's new Rectangles die set, these dies have a fun design on every second die in the set.

Well that is about it from me today, thank you for dropping by. To continue on the blog hop, click on the next person on the list which is Helen Cryer.

Here is the complete blog hop list if you need it.

Enjoy Books

Hi Crafty Friends,

This week the Karen Burniston Design Team is collaborating with Brutus Monroe, they have lots of fun products which work well with Karen's die sets.

Karen Burniston will be releasing 12 new die sets which will be available to purchase in June. You can see a sneak peek of the new dies being released here.

Today I am sharing my second card using stamps from Brutus Monroe and one of Karen Burniston's new die sets. This time around I have used the Circle Charm Pop-up die set to create my card.

The Brutus Monroe Library Background is another stamp I have had on my wish list for some time now, so when this opportunity came I just had to add it to my list.

To create my card I started with an A2 sized card and then used my MISTI to stamp this background stamp on the front and also onto both sides of the inside of the card. The image looks a little daunting to color, but it was really easy to color and didn't take much time at all. Some I colored while watching tv.

I used Karen Burniston's new Circle Charm Pop-up die set to create the pop up portion of the card. The star in the centre circle is attached to the circle using fishing wire and is covered with gold  glitter.

The "Enjoy" sentiment is from the new Word Set 6 - Summer die set also being released this week. For the "Books" sentiment I created this by using parts of various words from both the Word Set 2 and Word Set 4 die sets.

To finish off the card I white embossed on black cardstock, sentiments from Brutus Monroe's Love Sailing and When I Grow Up - Astronaut stamp set. I thought all of these sentiments from these sets worked well to describe what books can do.

Here is an overhead photo of my card so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little better.

Owl Always Love You

Hi Crafty Friends,

This week the Karen Burniston Design Team is collaborating with Brutus Monroe, they have lots of fun products which work well with Karen's die sets. Karen Burniston will be releasing 12 new die sets in June, so for my card today I have combined a couple of the new die sets with a Brutus Monroe stamp set.

There were a couple of stamps I had on my wish list for a while, being an owl lover of course this Owl Love You stamp set was one of them. So when I got to chose what products I wanted to work with for this collaboration, I of course had to select this cute owl stamp set.

As I had just received the new Karen Burniston dies which are being released in June,  I had to play with a couple of those too. Here I have used the new alphabet die set to create the eclipse technique, die cutting the word "Owl" rather than using the word that was included in the sentiment.

I also used the new Circles die set for the layering of the owl and also for the frame on the window. I love the pattern that Karen has added to the edges of some of the circles in this die set.

I used the pop-up mechanism from the Katherine Label Pop-up die set die cutting the window and the layers the owl is on using the new circle die set rather than the label that comes with the die set.

The cloud background was created using the cloud border die from the Nature Edges die set.

For the background of this card I used Hero Arts Every Which Way Stencil to create the Rotated Stencils technique.

I stamped the second line of the sentiment twice onto black cardstock and trimmed it down so I could have it on both the inside and outside of my card.
