Somebunny Loves You

Hi Crafty Friends,

Well Easter is just a few days away, so today I am sharing an Easter themed card I created recently.

I created a Double Diamond Fold Card using a template included in Crafter's Companion's Template Library which I was lucky enough to get hold off before it went out of stock. From what I understand this may not be reordered, or if it does it will be dearer than the original one as Crafter's Companion were able to make a deal buying so many for all their different tv outlets. The Template Library consists of a book that includes plastic templates for a variety of cards, boxes and envelopes. There is a coordinating book that shows the recipes and instructions for each template, plus there are links to videos. There are also 20 dies included in the library. I much prefer using dies to create cards these days, but some styles of cards don't have dies available so having a template is the next best thing,  and I was more than happy with the process to create my card using the templates.

To decorate my card I used some of the decorative pieces included in the Step into Spring Honeycomb Cardmaking Kit which was a freebie with purchasing Papercraft Essentials Issue 222. There is so much included in this kit, it really is great value and I am enjoying using elements other than stamps and dies on my cards from time to time.

This card folds down to be approximately 5 1/2 inches x 6 inches. Mine won't be completely flat as I added the honeycomb egg to the rabbits belly, however if you didn't add something like that or made the honeycomb piece be able to fold flat by adding hook and loop tape it would fit into an envelope.

Just Hanging Around

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Double Diamond Pop-up Fold card that I created recently using a Tutorial by Sam Calcott. You can find her tutorial here

I have actually made this style of card a few years ago, using a Tattered Lace Diamond Fold Card die set. That card was smaller being about 4 3/4 inches wide by 5 1/4 inches while my card today measures 6 inches square.  You can see my previous card here.

To decorate my card I used stamps and dies from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott. The Monkey is from the Just Chillin' stamp/die sets, and the sentiment from the Just Hangin' stamp set.  I also added some leaves using the Leaves and Vines die set from the Swing Card Collection.

I added panels to the back of the card so that I could add additional sentiments and a place to write a personal message. The sentiments are from both the stamp sets I used on the front of the card.

Double Diamond Fold Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I am sharing an interesting fun fold card that I created recently.

This fun fold technique is called a Double Diamond Fold Card and from what I have seen on Pinterest there are two different ways to make this particular card ... the way I have done here or turned around so the diamonds that are on the back are a feature on the front. This card once folded is 6 inches square. I used a tutorial by Sam Calcott for my card which you can find on her blog post here

This card uses no stamps and minimal use of dies, using just a couple of circle and oval dies for the layering. A little while ago, I purchased a male themed paper pack from Craft Stash called Made for Men Paper Pad, I just loved the papers and also included in the pad were some word and image toppers suitable for male birthdays, Father's Day etc. This is what I used for this card.

For the back of my card I added a white panel to the centre of the card, a place for a sentiment and personal greeting. I have again used another piece of the patterned paper along the bottom and another of the sentiment toppers.

As mentioned above, you could also decorate this side rather than what is the front of my card and have this the featured side.

Happy 1st Birthday!

StrawberryDoubleDiamond-wm

Hi everyone,

My card today is one I have created for my Granddaughter who will be turning 1 next month … wow didn’t that year fly by! My daughter has decided on a Strawberry Shortcake Theme for her birthday party and while this image isn’t Strawberry Shortcake … it is the closest thing I could find. This is another CC Designs stamp called Strawberry Beatrice.

While I was figuring out what to do with the stamp I came across a blog post on Double Diamond Fold Cards and I knew immediately this would be perfect for my card.

I found a couple of different tutorials on creating these. One tutorial the diamond folds where slightly overlapping and this one I used here had the diamond folds with a large gap in between. I like both versions but this one meant I could do more with the piece behind the diamond folds so I went with that version. I used a tutorial on the Scorpal site and this one was the metric version … but I am sure they have one in inches too if you look for Double Diamond Fold card.

I decided to add my greeting on the inside of my card … so I added some card … I also added card to the two side panels as they both had writing about the type of paper it was and I didn’t like that showing. You could also add a sentiment to the diamond folds on the back of the card … but this meant I could use a larger sentiment.

My sentiment is a very very old stamp set from MFT Stamps which has long since been retired years ago … one of the pros of no longer being on the Design Team is I can use my retired stamps! It is so hard to find sentiments like this in stamps.

Stamps: Strawberry Beatrice – CC Designs; Happy Stamp Set – Simons Says Stamps; Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired) – MFT Stamps
Paper: White; Pink; Berry Pink DP – Doodlebug Designs
Other: Black Ink; Papertrey Ink Birthday Trio Die; Papertrey Ink Suffix Style Die; ScorPal; Rhinestones; Foam Tape; Copics
