Santa's in the Fireplace

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Kelly Santi our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

Dear Santa ... It's "Dear Santa Letter Writing Week". Create a card showcasing a letter to Santa. Maybe your image shows a critter, child or even an adult writing a Christmas wish list or letter to Santa.

As you can see by the photo above, I created a Christmas themed Slimline card for the challenge today. I couldn't find a stamp of anyone writing a letter in my stash, so opted for the "Dear Santa" letter that is sitting on the mantlepiece of the fireplace.

As I wanted to have plenty of room for the fireplace on my card I made my Slimline card 3 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches. I used papers from Trinity Stamps for the background of my card.

To create the fireplace I used Lawn Fawn's Shadow Box Card - Fireplace Add-on die set which comes with everything to create the fireplace and Santa's legs. I used MFT Stamps English Brick Stencil and Distress Oxide Inks to add the brickwork to the fireplace.

As the fireplace is large, I needed a larger Christmas Tree. I used an older Christmas Tree die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, cutting it off at the top of the card so it looks like it goes beyond the card.

I added presents under the tree which are from an MFT Stamps stamp set, the dog and items on the mantlepiece are from Lawn Fawn.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card using Lawn Fawn's Pop-up Be Merry die set. I wanted the sentiment to say "Merry Christmas" rather than "Be Merry" so after adding the pop up to the card I covered the "Be" with some card and adhered the two children to the panel.

I added two more children either side of the pop-up.

To finish off the card, I added the "Christmas" sentiment which is from Divinity Designs Merry Christmas with Layers die set.

Here is one more photo of the inside of the card, so you can see the pop-up portion of the card a little better.

This Way To The North Pole

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a Christmas themed Slimline Pop-up card to share with you today.

I recently purchased a few of the new The Ton Slimline dies, one being the Dot Coverplate die. As soon as I saw this die, I thought of snowy backgrounds. So of course I had to create a wintery Christmas scene using this die in the background.

I die cut the Dot Coverplate die from white cardstock and then blending Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass; Broken China and Faded Jeans.

I used MFT Stamps Stitched Slimline Snow Drifts to add snow along the bottom of the panel. I then adhered this to a top folding Slimline card that measures 8 3/4 inches x 3 3/4 inches.

To create the scene I used stamps from Simon Says Stamp!'s Christmas Cheer stamp set and MFT Stamps Jingle All The Way stamp set.

To finish off the front of the card I added a sentiment using The Ton's Easy Expressions Holiday Stamp set with coordinating dies.

For the inside of the card I created a pop-up card.

I used the Dot Coverplate again for the back panel of the inside of the card.

I then used Lawn Fawn's Pop-up Be Merry and Oliver's ABCs die sets to create the pop-up portion of the card.

I added another of the snowdrifts from the MFT die set along the front edge of the card.

Here is another photo of the inside of my card, taken at a different angle to see the pop-up a little better.

To finish off the inside of the card, I added the signpost, Christmas Trees, present and girl.
