Daisy Shower

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing six Slimline Cards I created recently using products from Spellbinders Yana's Daisies Collection.

I was only planning on making two cards, as I had inked up the Daisy Showers Betterpress plates twice using the teal & orange colours. But once I had stencilled the colours onto my cards, I decided to ink up a third panel.

This Betterpress plate is 5 x 7 inches, I think it is the first one of this size and I hope they produce more! I love this size as it gives more options, if you like doing A2 size cards, you can cut the panel down to that size, make 5 x 7 cards, or like I did when I had finished adding colour to all my panels, I cut them down to 7 inches x 2  1/2 inches so I got two cards out of one panel. Viola six cards!

These two cards above were actually the last two I inked, it was the colour I wanted when I did my orange card below, but I added too much orange to it. This one is prettier in my opinion. I used Orange Peel Catherine Pooler Inks for the main colour. I was very impressed how easy it was to create this background using my Betterpress, just the one inking and passing through the machine. If I had attempted this with a solid background stamp, I would have been doing it a lot more.

After I had cut all my decorated panels, I pulled out an old Mama Elephant Slimline die set called Slim Film City, and die cut the postage panel from black cardstock. It was slightly too long for my panel, so I cut it in half and then glued it back together overlapping one notch ... perfect sizing now! I then adhered this to a 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 Slimline card.

This card uses Catherine Pooler Orange Peel & Orange Twist inks for the main colour.

For my final two cards I used Catherine Pooler ink On The Lake ink for the main colour.

For the sentiments for all my cards I used Yana's new Crafty Hugs Betterpress set. One thing I love about Betterpress plates is that I have the option of foiling them which is what I did here, using white glimmer foil on black cardstock. I just used two of the sentiments from the set for all my cards ... the cards on the left I used "Just a Note" and the ones on the right "Sending Love & Hugs".

I kept the inside of my cards fairly simple, just adding a die cut sentiment to them all.

For the cards that featured the "Just A Note" sentiment on the front I added the "Hello" which is an older edge die from Crafter's Companion. The other three which featured "Sending Love & Hugs" on the front, I used the Thinking of You sentiment which is an older one from Concord & 9th.

Have A Novel Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Today I am sharing a book themed Slimline Pop-up card I created recently.

To create the slimline portion of my card, I used Picket Fence Studios Slimline Die Cutting System including their new Slimline Oval Fence die set.

To decorate my card, I used Mama Elephants Book Club stamp set and one of the sentiments from the Storybook Sayings stamp set.

The grass & mushrooms behind the fence is from Lawn Fawn and the grass in front of the fence is from Trinity Stamps.

For the inside of the card, I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Little Labels Pop-up die set. I also used one of the slimline borders from the Long Nature Edges die set.

I again used stamps from Mama Elephant's Book Club and Storybook Sayings stamp sets to decorate the labels.

Here is a look at the inside of the card showing the card at an angle, so you can see the pop up portion of the card a little better.

Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

Hi Crafty Friends,

I hope you are having a beautiful day! Today I am sharing a Slimline card I created recently using stamps from Mama Elephant and Lawn Fawn.

My Slimline Card measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches. I created the background to my card using patterned paper for the sky and grey cardboard for the path/road.

I used the Mama Elephant Hey Neighbour stamp set for the tall building, this also comes with the cute animals which are looking out the windows.

I used Lawn Fawn's Scootin' By stamp set to add the cute animals and scooters at the bottom of my slimline card.

The bush at the side of the house, is a large cloud which I turned on it's side.

To finish off the card I added a sentiment using the Spellbinders Tiered Tray Sentiments stamp set.

For the inside of my card I added a notched slimline panel using Creative Craft Products Slimline Nested Notched die sets.

I added the road to the bottom of the panel adding the car from the Lawn Fawn Car Critters stamp set.

The sentiments on this panel are from Made To Surprise by Sam. Calcott's Showstopper Sentiments stamp set.

Oh Christmas Tree

 Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As it's a brand new month, it's time to introduce our challenge hostess which is Maryann Einam.

For our challenge this week Maryann reminds us that ... The first of the month means that Christmas is not far away. Need some more cards for your stash, create a Christmas card in any style.

For my card today I pulled out a Studio Light die set called Christmas Tree Folding Card. Instead of doing a simple gatefold card using this die set, I was inspired by Corrine Reijngoudt, who used this die set a few months ago to create a Triple Christmas Tree Card by die cutting the main die three times instead of once. You can see Corrine's YouTube tutorial here.

I decorated each of the panels of the card using Holographic card and patterned paper from Crafter's Companion's Frosty & Bright 12 x 12 Paper Pad.

I added a star to the top of the tree using the smallest star included in Creative Craft Products Perfectly Flips - Star die set.

Here you can see all three of the panels a little better, when I squashed the card flat. As you can see, I also added some gnomes to my tree using Mama Elephant's Little Gnome Agenda stamp set.

For the back of the card, I added a white panel in the centre. This is a place to add a greeting and be able to write a personal message.

I added another gnome and a sentiment from Waffle Flower Craft's Merry Christmas Duo stamp set.

On Point Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a birthday Slimline card to share with you today using a cactus die set from Mama Elephants. This uses the Cactus Builder die set which includes the cacti images and the pot.

To create my slimline card I started by creating the background. I die cut a piece of blue cardstock using the largest rectangle from the Picket Fence Studios' Slim Nesting Rectangles die set. I added extra color to the panel using Distress Oxide inks in Broken China, Faded Jeans and Prize Ribbon. I added a small rectangle to the base of the card, colouring it with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink. This was then adhered to a side folding Slimline card that measures 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

I die cut the pot and base from ochre cardstock adding ink along the sides of the pot. I decorated the pot using dies from Whimsy Stamps Slimline Zig Zag Edger die set.

I die cut the cactus from green cardstock and shaded the edges using Mowed Lawn & Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks.

To finish off the from of the card I added a sentiment from MFT Stamps Let's Stick Together Stamp set.

For the inside of the card I added a box pop up to add my sentiment and added decoration. I added another of the stitched rectangles from the Slim Nesting Rectangles die set.

I used the second cactus included in the Cactus Builder die set. The sentiment is from an older Sizzix die set.

The border at the top of pop up and edges of the card were created using Whimsy Stamps Zig Zag Edger die set.

Just Chicken In

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Kelly Santi our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently National Dance Like a Chicken Day was this week -and it encourages everyone to dance like a chicken! This day entertains with people flapping their arms and strutting chicken-like. Create a card with chicken(s) as the star! Dancing optional.

I have been wanting to play with Whimsy Stamps Slimline Chicken Coop die for months, but when I saw this challenge earlier in the year, I decided to wait until the challenge and make use of it then. This die can either be adhered to a slimline card like have have used it today or make a fun shaped card. The door on the left side of the card, can open but for this card I adhered it closed.

I was going to use a chicken themed stamp set from Whimsy Stamps, but then I remembered to Mama Elephant stamp sets ... Zodiac Roster and Little Chickie Agenda which were so cute that I decided to pull them out to use on this too.

I added grass to the lower portion of my slimline card using MFT Stamps Slimline Grassy Hillside Borders.

For the inside of my card I added two layers of grass using the MFT Stamps Slimline Grassy Hillside Border dies. I also added the chickens and chicks from the two Mama Elephant stamp sets.

For the sentiment, I used Karen Burniston's Mini Alphabet and Numbers die set to add the "Hey Chickie". I then added the "Just Chicken In ..." using the Zodiac Roster stamp set.

Whoo's Having A Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month and year, it's time to introduce a new challenge hostess which is Lois Bak.

It’s a brand-new year.  Use something brand-new or something you’ve never used before, on your card.  It could be a stamp, a die, or even a technique.

I was lucky enough to receive a number of new stamps and dies as Christmas presents, so in that regard this challenge was easy.

I created a Building Block card using Studio Light's Building Block die set. I decorated my card using Mama Elephant's Owl Are You stamp set.

I also used an older Dare 2B Artzy's Feather Friends stamp set for the birthday sentiment that is stamped in the top left square.

My card, folds flat and will fit inside a 5 inch square envelope.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Christmas themed Slimline card I created recently.

For this card I used Hero Arts Slimline Christmas and New Year Cover Plate. I die cut this from white cardstock. As this die doesn't cut around the edges of the sentiment, I used Pinkfresh Studios Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles die set. This gives a fancy edge around the whole panel.

I layered this panel over some holly patterned paper and then to a burgundy rectangle panel and finally a side folding green slimline card.

To decorate the front of my card I added the "From Me to You" sentiment which is a Hot Foil Stamp from Spellbinders.

I also added a few reindeers using Mama Elephant's Little Reindeer Agenda stamp set.

For the inside of my card I added a banner using Pinkfresh Studio's Slim Ornate Banner die set. I stamped the Christmas sentiment using Paper Inspiration's Favorite Things Calligraphy stamp.

I also added some die cut hollies, using a die from Papertrey Ink.

Christmas Scenescape Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

Create a Scene! For our challenge this week create a card that features a scene of some type… outside or inside.

For my card today I decided to create a inside scene making a Christmas themed Slimline Scenescape Card using Mama Elephant's Scenescape Builder die set.

I die cut the main dies included in the Slimline Scenescape Builder die set from red cardstock. For the back panel I used red and white diagonal striped patterned paper and white cardstock for the sentiment panel on the front.

I used Lawn Fawn's Window Frame die set to create the window and curtains on the back panel of the card, die cutting star patterned papers to insert into the window panels. As the window is large, I cut it in half so only the bottom half is showing on my card.

To decorate the Slimline Scenescape, I used a number of Lawn Fawn stamp sets.

The fire place and most of the images on the fire place are from the Christmas Dreams stamp set. The Christmas tree, kids and presents are all from the Joy to All stamp set. The dogs and bone are all from the Furry and Bright stamp set.

For the sentiment on the front panel, I used the sentiment from the Window Scene Winter stamp set. I also added the lights which are from the Furry and Bright Stamp set.

To decorate the back panel of my card I added the Giant Merry Christmas die.

I added the girl, dog and present from the Joy to All stamp set.
