Christmas Blessings

 

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a shaped Christmas card I created recently. This cards uses Rub Ons from Spellbinders as well as their Greenwich Market Frame Embossing Folder.

This embossing folder embosses and cuts at the same time. So I placed a panel of red cardstock into the folder and embossed die cut it out. I then used Lisa Hortons Gold ink to add color to the embossed detail, however this wasn't as gold as I wanted and as I couldn't find my rub ons but did find a gold distress crayon I used that to add more gold to the detail.

I used just the cutting die on its own to die cut a folded white card base which I attached to the back of the embossed panel.

I die cut a white rectangle panel using the die that also comes in this embossing folder and used that with the Spellbinders Joyful Season Rub Ons to add the Christmas Tree & the sentiment.

For the inside of the card I added two sentiments using Spellbinders Holiday Banner Greetings Press & Foil plate.

One Martini, Two Martini .....

One martini, two martini, three martini, floor! I am soooooo very excited today as one of my very good friends is this week's featured stamper, Kim Muhl aka nutsymuhl on SCS. Congratulations Kim you so deserve this!!!!!

I decided to CASE two of her cards today and both cards were chosen because I had seen them recently and had admired them and also because I owned the stamps/supplies used to create the particular cards.

Basically this week I did a straight out CASE of Kim's cards but of course I did stick to the rules and made at least 2 changes to each card.

The first cards I decided to CASE of Kim's can be found here. The Changes I made to this card include:

• changed the soft sky color to river rock (I originally was planning on changing both colors but when I was looking for card to use I discovered the pomegranate piece complete with cuttlebugging to it so of course I decided to use that rather than it being wasted)
• changed the ribbon
• added brads to the top right corner of my image layer
• changed the sentiment (I didn't have the sentiment Kim used so I created my own using my computer.)
• moved my sentiment over a little as it is shorter than Kim's
• added the martini olive embellishment to the sentiment.

The second card I CASEd of Kim's I chose because it used the rub ons that were available for this years SAB .... Kim had created a one layer card which you can see here.

Here are my changes:

• Added layers to my card
• used a wider ribbon
• colored the flowers red

Wow .... no stamping, brads or paper piercing were needed to create this card!

Here is another version of the rub on card above ..... this was the original one I started but I was playing around with ribbon and what I had added to it I didn't like so while trying to remove the ribbon I also tore some of the white card a little ... so I put it aside and started again. I decided to see if I could fix it rather than waste those rub ons ... so I attached a piece of black card across the top which hides the torn area and then added the red ribbon. I also changed the sentiment on this one.
