Hi everyone,
It’s my turn to post a project on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog today. For my card today I have created a Stand Up Card using the new Hot Air Balloons die set from the Joset Designs Collection. I have also used the Cloud die from the CountryScapes – Clouds & Grass die set from the Susan’s Garden Collection to create the sky for the background of my card.
Here’s how I created my card:
1. The Card Base:
- Cut a piece of White Soft Finish Cardstock 100lb so that it measures 4-1/4″ x 11″. Score at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″. Fold along score lines as shown above. Lightly score at 8-1/4″ but do not fold.
2. Position the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper die so that the bottom of the die is lined up and centred along the 8-1/4″ score line created in step 1. Run through die cutting machine.
- Place a piece of Transparent Double-Sided Adhesive to green cardstock that will be large enough to fit the Happy Birthday Stand Up Helper die. Die cut so that the adhesive is on the bottom, trim along the bottom edge of the sentiment and adhere on top of the Happy Birthday on the white card base.
3. Using the Grass die from the CountryScapes – Clouds & Grass die set die cut from a piece of green card that is approx 5 inches x 1 1/2 inches. Adhere the grass to the bottom of the white card base.
- Using the sentiment “Flying by to say” from the What’s Up? Clear Stamp set and black ink, stamp this so that it is centred between the Happy Birthday & the Grass on the bottom of the card.
4. For Main Panel:
- Cut a piece of blue cardstock which measures 4 inches x 5 1/4 inches.
5. Using the Cloud die from the CountryScapes – Clouds & Grass die set, die cut the following:
- (3) clouds from White Soft Finish Cardstock
- (2) clouds from blue cardstock.
- Adhere stripes of Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of each cloud and starting from the bottom of the blue base created in step 4 start layering the clouds. (Tip: When layering your clouds to the card base, remove only the bottom layer of adhesive tape from each cloud first and place under the previous cloud. Once all clouds are where they need to be go back and remove the remainder of the adhesive tape from behind the clouds.)
- Trim the clouds at the sides of the card, so edges are even.
- Layer the cloud background base to a piece of white card 4 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches.
6. Using the Hot Air Balloons die set die cut the following:
- (1) Vertical Striped Hot Air Balloon from White Soft Finish Cardstock
- (1) Vertical Striped Hot Air Balloon from yellow cardstock
- (1) Vertical Striped Hot Air Balloon from orange cardstock
- (1) Basket from Vertical Striped Hot Air Balloon from brown cardstock
- (1) Flag Banner from red cardstock
- (1) Horizontal Striped Hot Air Balloon from White Soft Finish Cardstock
- (1) Horizontal Striped Hot Air Balloon from pink cardstock
- (1) Horizontal Striped Hot Air Balloon from aqua cardstock
- (1) Basket from Horizontal Striped Hot Air Balloon from brown cardstock
- (1) Scallop Banner from teal cardstock
- (4) Stars from teal cardstock
(Note for easier assembly apply Clear Double Sided Adhesive to the back of all the cardstock pieces BEFORE die cutting, except for the white pieces.)
- Cut the baskets of each of the brown hot air balloons and adhere this to the white hot air balloons.
- Trim the yellow hot air balloon to remove the basket and ropes and adhere this basket over the top of the corresponding white hot air balloon.
- Trim the orange hot air balloon so you just have the centre and outer vertical stripes and adhere them over the top of the yellow hot air balloon.
- Adhere the red flag banner to completed hot air balloon.
- Trim the pink hot air balloon to remove the basket and ropes and adhere this basket over the top of the corresponding white hot air balloon.
- Trim the aqua hot air balloon so you have the top, third and fifth horizontal stripes and adhere over the top of the pink hot air balloon.
- Adhere the teal scallop banner and stars to competed hot air balloon.
7. Using foam tape adhere hot air balloons to cloud background card panel using photo above for placement.
8. Adhere the main panel to the lower half of the front of the card as per photo above.
