Book Monster

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for August, I continue to issue the challenges.

Yesterday was Book Lovers Day, so for our challenge this week take your inspiration from a book.

Recently my friend Karen Aicken shared on her blog a different way to use Karen Burniston's Train Pivot Panels die to create a different type of pop-up card. She actually posted 4 different cards using this idea on her blog in July. Here is the link to her first card she made using this idea.  I  just loved the idea, so of course had to try it out for myself. The pop-up portion of the Train Pivot Panels die set is attached to the centre of the card as you normally would, but rather than having the card in the landscape orientation, you turn it so it is portrait style.

I have had Your Next Stamp's Silly Book Monster stamp set on my desk since my birthday earlier in the year, so I thought it was a great opportunity to play with it for this challenge  There is actually a children's book called "The Book Monster", so this works perfectly.

The sentiment at the bottom of the card is from Gina K Designs Open Book stamp set which has been stamped onto a circle from the Crosshatch - Circles die set.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action, it will also help you to see how this was turned into a pop-up card.

Here is another photo of the inside of my card taken at a different angle, so you can see the pop up portion of the card a little better.

For the front of the card I have used the book from Gina K Designs Open Book stamp set. I added the  sitting monster from the Your Next Stamp Silly Book Monster stamp set and the book pile for the monster to sit on for the right side of the book.

On the left side of the book, I added the "Book Monster" sentiment again from Your Next Stamp stamp set and added the "The" word which is from Heffy Doodle Stamps Teach Me stamp set.

The arms holding the books were cut off the other monster and adhered them to the edges of the page.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
