Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

 Tomorrow is Dictionary Day. For our challenge this week, create a card that includes words on your card. Maybe a scripty word background either stamped or using patterned papers, large focal sentiment etc.

A few week's ago I shared a Slimline Double Dutch Fold Card complete with tutorial, you can see that post here. While I was making that card, I was also putting together another card using different papers, but didn't finish it. When I looked at that card, I noticed that the scripty pattern paper on the top flap of my card, fitted this challenge. So of course I pulled that out and finished it off.

To decorate my card I pulled out an older stamp from A Random Fan, which I mounted onto ovals and added to the bottom of the flap.

I also added a birthday sentiment, using a Crafter's Companion Edge'ables die and a stamped sentiment.

Here is a look at my card as you open the two bottom side flaps. 

Here you can see my card fully open. I used Pinkfresh Studio's Slim Ornate Banner die set to add the panels on the inside. I also added a birthday sentiment, which is an older Hero Arts sentiment from my stash.

Christmas Slimline Double Dutch Fold Card

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I finish off the month with one last challenge.

So our final "S" themed challenge is ... 

Slimline Cards- Yes I know we had this theme earlier in the year, but Slimline cards are fun and on trend right now. They are also addictive …. Which is why I created a Facebook Group dedicated to Slimline Cards called Slimline Card Addicts. So this week create a slimline card.

The most popular sizes for Slimline Cards are either 3.5 inches x 8.5 inches or 4 inches x 9 inches. Slimline Cards fit into a standard business size envelope.

One of the things I am enjoying while creating so many Slimline cards lately, is finding old ideas and adapting them to work with Slimline cards. Recently on my Slimline Card Addicts Facebook Group, Judy Lauterbach shared a Slimline Double Dutch Fold Card. Of course I had to put this on my to do list to try, which is what I have done for my card today. 

On a normal Double Dutch Fold card the top panel is the longer one and the two side ones are shorter, but it is the opposite when creating a Slimline version.

To create this style of card, first cut a piece of cardstock which is 4 inches wide by the length of the cardstock (11 inches if you are using US sized card or 12 inches if you want to use 12 x 12). As I was using Australian A4 cardstock, mine measures 11 3/4 inches. 

Score and fold along the long side at 8 3/4 

Cut another piece of cardstock that measures 8 inches x 6 1/2 inches. Score and fold along the 8 inch died at 2 inches on either side.

Now adhered the tall panel to the centre of the two fold panel. Note: For a better fold, trim a sliver of cardstock off the tall panel before adhering to the centre of the other panel.

Now it is just a matter of decorating as desired.

To decorate my card, I added patterned paper to all of the side and top panels.

I used Spellbinders Ornament Glimmer Plate/Die set to decorate the top panel. It hangs down over the side panels when the card is closed which helps keep those panels closed.

For the inside of the card I added a white panel which is die cut using a Slimline die set from Pinkfresh Studio. I added a border along the bottom of the panel using the Slimline Border die set.

I used Yana's Christmas Sentiment Glimmer sent to added the gold foiled Christmas sentiment. This was then die cut using the elongated oval die set. I added another poinsettia from the glimmer set I used on the front of the card.

We Don’t Know How Strong We Are!

It’s day 4 of the MFTeasers, in preparation of the release of the new stamp sets which are all due to be released by MFT Stamps this coming Tuesday 7th February.

Today the Design Team are featuring the three sets that will be released, these are “Vertical Greetings Die-namic & Stamp set”; “Ring Me Die-namic & Stamp set” and “Finishing Flourishes Stamp set”.

For my first card today I used the Vertical Greetings Die-namic & Stamp set, I love being able to use sentiments that go in the opposite direction to normal! If you are wondering how I layered the black panel behind the greeting, it is so simple. Just die cut another vertical greeting from black card and then cut this in half, this is then adhered at the back on the top and bottom of the main panel so you have a little showing. Then just cut a rectangle from black card to fit the centre portion.

I decided to create another Double Dutch Fold card if you haven’t made one of these before you can find a tutorial in the resources section of Splitcoast Stampers. I also added some Charcoal Twine to the top portion of my card.

And here you can see my card fully open. I have used another stamp from the Vertical Greetings Die-namics and Stamp set.

After I had finished my first card you saw at the top of my post, the sketch for a recent Clean and Simple sketch challenge (FTL174) came up on my Google Reader. I thought it was the perfect sketch for the Vertical Greetings Die-namics and Stamp set so I had to make another card . This time round I added a flourish from the Finishing Flourishes stamp set also being released on Tuesday.

Here is the inside of my card. The sentiment and flourish used on the inside are also from the Finishing Flourishes stamp set. I also added a border along the designer paper which was cut using the Die-namics Monarch Border also being released on Tuesday 7th February.
