Christmas In August!

OCC-xmas-in-Aug-wm
Hi everyone!
It’s OCC challenge time over on the Our Creative Corner Blog. This week Loretta our August challenge hostess challenged us to create a card or project using the theme “Christmas in August”
Recently Jessica Lynn Originals released some fun Christmas themed Brentwood Owls which yes I just had to order hehe …. there were also 2 digital stamps. As I didn’t think my rubber stamps would arrive by the time I wanted to create my card for this challenge I decided to use one of the digital stamps which I also ordered.
I used the fleur de lis Spellbinders Pendant die for the layers of my image.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the OCC Designers cards over on the OCC Blog.

Sunshine & Summertime!

CCEE-Standing-Up-Beach-wm

Hi everyone.

It’s Monday, the start of a new week. Of course Mondays also mean challenge time with my CCEE Stamper friends.

This week Dawn our challenge hostess challenged us all to create a fun summery card! I recently received my summer themed Brentwood Owls from Jessica Lynn Originals, so of course I wanted to play with at least one of them!

One of the recent technique challenges over on SCS was a Stand Up card which is what I decided to make for my challenge card today … these are lots of fun. You can find out more details on this type of card and the challenge here.

Here is the inside of my card … I used the EK Success Beach border punch to create the border above my designer paper panel.

Don’t forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the CCEE Stampers creations this week. You will also find details on how you can play in this challenge.

Belated Happy 4th July!

sc236 4th JulyHi everyone.

I guess you are all wondering why I am sending belated Happy 4th July greetings ha! Well for no other reason other then I just received my stamps I ordered last month from Jessica Lynn Originals and this image was one of the stamps I ordered. It isn’t like I need 4th of July stamps LOL … after all I don’t celebrate this event being that I live in Australia … but it was sooooooooooo adorable that I just HAD to have it and I promised myself I would make yet another red white and blue card when I received it LOL!

My card is for this week’s sketch challenge over on SCS and it was the perfect layout for this image … now how did Roxie know I wanted to use that image today LOL … sometimes you have an image in mind to use and when you see the sketch you know right off that that image just won’t work so then you have to go to plan B … but not today.

The star eyelets I purchased recently with 4th July cards that I had to do for various design teams but didn’t end up using them so I broke open the packet today … yahhhhhhhh!

The designer paper I used it scraps from other 4th July cards I have recently created using the Gina K Designs digi paper which is available to download for free from the Stamp TV site.

Recipe:

Stamps:  Brentwood Owl: 4th of July – Jessica Lynn Originals

Paper: White; Riding Hood Red & Brilliant Blue – SU; Digi Paper – Gina K Designs

Owl Be A Pirate!

ccee-pirate-owl-wm

My card today is for the challenge I do each week with my CCEE Stamper friends. This week is our supply challenge which we do each month, this is when the challenge hostess sends us all the same supplies to use when we are creating our cards.

This month Deb our challenge hostess for May sent us all 3 pieces of Bittersweet designer paper from Basic Grey, a brad and 2 pieces of ribbon. She instructed us to use at least 2 of the 3 pieces of designer paper to create our card and also to use the brad. The ribbons were optional.

I used Jen’s of Iheart2stamps’s blog SFYTT sketch from 16th May to create my card. I also used one of my Jessica Lynn Original owls that I received recently. As the designer papers had pink in them I decided my pirate would be a female … so I colored her hat pink. I did cheat on the brad and swapped it for some I had similar as I needed 2 for my card not 1 … hopefully Deb won’t mind hehe!

ccee-pirate-owl-in-wm Here is the inside of my card, I used the sentiment from the Stampendous Pirate owls that I have.

Additional Optional Challenge

In observance of Memorial Day as celebrated in the US, many of the CCEE girls are sending the cards they made today to Cards for Heroes.org . These cards are then forwarded to service men to be used in communicating with their families as well as acknowledging important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries and etc. in their families. If you would like to thank a serviceman by donating your card please click here.......

Viva Las VSN!

MAY09VSNH-Hoot-wm

Hi everyone,

It is VSN (Virtual Stamp Night) over on SCS this weekend. This time round the theme is Viva Las VSN which of course has a Vegas Theme.

I managed to play one of the challenges this morning hosted by Kimme Leach (MelenaPrincess over on SCS). Kimme challenge was called “Slots of Fun” and it was a sketch challenge … yes my favorite challenge. Kimme had a slot machine in mind when she created this sketch hehe. Look 3 owls in row does that mean I am a winner LOL!!!!!!

Of course I had to play with yet another of my new Jessica Lynn Original owls … this is Ruby with a Martini which I thought was appropriate for a Vegas theme. Now there is a catch when playing any VSN challenge which is you have to create your card within 45 mins … yikes … it can take me that long even longer trying to figure out what embellishments to use hehe … but yes I made it within the timeframe.

Recipe:

Stamps: Ruby with a Martini – Jessica Lynn Original; Sentiment – High Hopes Stamps

Paper: White; Black; Pumpkin Pie, Riding Hood Red & Washington Apple DP – SU

Other: Black Ink; Labels 4 Nestabilities; Red Brads, Foam Tape; Copics

Owl’s It Going?

tecc68-owl's-it-going-wm

Hi everyone and Owl’s it Going??? hehehehehe!

My card today combines two challenges. First up it is this week’s Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge TECC68, it has been ages since I have played this on the same day as it was posted!

The second challenge I found on the Jessica Lynn Originals Design Team Blog. The challenge was to use any JLO stamp you have that hasn't seen any ink or enough ink!  Well seeing I only got my Owl stamps on Thursday none of them had seen any ink so this was an easy challenge to do hehe. I used “Ruby As A Daisy” isn’t she cute! I stamped the owl twice on white card and then cut out just the flower portion of her head so that it was 3D’d.

Recipe:

Stamps: Ruby As A Daisy – Jessica Lynn Original; Sentiment – H & M Stamps

Paper: White; Pink Pirouette, Close To Cocoa & Candy Lane DP – SU

Other: Black Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Oval Punches; Embossed Scallop Border Punch; Grosgrain Ribbon; Foam Tape; Copics

I Love My Mum!

owl-onesie-wm

Hi everyone,

About a week or two ago I had a little time on my hand so starting browsing through the daily uploads over on SCS. Well while browsing I discovered a new source of amazing owls stamps! These little cuties are called Brentwood Owl and are available from Jessica Lynn Original.

Now I know a lot of you follow my blog because you love owls too! I am amazed that it took me so long to discover these. Normally if something new owlish comes out friends or followers email me and let me know but this time it just slipped by. I am sure if you love owl stamps you will love these ones too, I have some ordered and it won’t be long before I will need to order some more hehe. You can see the owls here.

Ok so if I don’t have my Brentwood Owls yet how did I manage to use one to make my card today … I know you are asking I would too hehe. Well Jessica also sells some digital stamps, most of them you have to pay for but this cute little guy called I love ________ Brentwood was available to download free so of course I had to download it right. You can find the digital stamps here.

Anyway I also recently purchased this cute little onesie die from Sizzix, it is one of their Bigz dies that they sell so of course I had to play with that and I thought this owl would look adorable on a onesie right … and what would it say on a baby’s onesie but I love my mum or I love my dad … of course I went with mum for my card today.

Oh and look this is the second card in a matter of a week that I have created and actually used eyelets on the card without it being a requirement of a challenge hehe … I normally always seem to go for brads rather then eyelets these days even though I have sooooooo many eyelets. Maybe we need more eyelet challenges so I can use them ha … shhhhhhhh!
