Hello My Friend

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing an Accordion card using Karen Burniston's Charm Accordion die set. This is one of Karen's first dies she released through KB Riley LLC about three years or so ago. With so many new dies since then, it has been a while since I have pulled it out to play, so it was fun to finally get to play with it again.

This is another card I created as a sample for Karen to use for the tv shows on Hochanda earlier in the month. For this card Karen requested that I use the Charm Accordion and the Memory Charms die sets along with any of the other dies that were going to be featured on Hochanda.

I decided to created a 4 page accordion card, which meant  die cutting the main die twice and joining it.

To decorate my card I used the Cat and Dog die set as well as the picture frame from the Memory Charms die set. I changed the orientation of the picture frame by cutting the hanger from the picture frame and adding it to the side instead. As you can see by the photo above, I added the cat to the picture frame on the first panel.

As you can see by the photo above, I also used the dog from the Cat and Dog die set and added that to another picture frame. The sentiments used on this card are from Word Set 1 - Greetings die set.

For the charm portion of this card which are hanging in between the square panels, I added a heart charm which is also included in the Charm Accordion die set.

When you close the card, the cat in the picture frame can be seen from the front of the card. I also added a couple of flourish corner die cuts which are also included in the Charm Accordion die set.

You've Been Elf'd

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month it is time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is me!!!

Elf Antics - One of the traditions I love to do at Christmas has to do with Elf on the Shelf. I know some people love them and some people hate them .... I am in the love category. For our challenge this week include an elf on your card.

For my card today I created a Christmas card using the Charm Accordion die set from Karen Burniston.

I die cut the Charm Accordion using teal cardstock and then splattered white paint over the cardstock to resemble snow. Along the bottom edge of the card I used the snow border from the Nature Edges die set. The snowflake in the centre of the card is from the Winter Charms die set.

To decorate my card I used the elves from the Mama Elephant Little Elf Agenda Clear Stamp set. I also added a tree which is from the Evergreen Pivot Panels die set.

The sentiments are from a retired stamp set from Essentials by Ellen.

To finish off the card I added some White Blizzard Nuvo Drops to the snow areas of the card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

New Home Congrats

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our August Paper Pros challenge. This month our challenge is hosted by Raquel Mason who has given us the theme is "Anything Goes".

Karen Burniston recently shared a card she made for the Karen Burniston/Darkroom Door Blog hop which was a variation of the Charm Accordion Card. I have made a Staggered Charm Accordion before but I liked how she used the longer rectangles in each of the windows and of course I had to make my own version. You can see her card which includes a video tutorial here.

My youngest daughter has recently purchased her first house (a unit) and she has just moved into it so I wanted to make a card for her to celebrate. So as you can see above I have combined the two.

As my daughter was buying a unit, I wanted to create a card using something that looked more like units than a house so ended up using one of the houses in the MFT Stamps Town Bear Stamp set.

Here is a close up of the first two pages of my card. I have also used the Crosshatch Rectangles for each of the rectangle panels .... I liked how this looked on Karen's card. I added a row of three units to the first and last pages of the card.

For the centre page I added the sentiments .... "New Home" which is from an old Waltzing Mouse Stamp stamp set and "Congrats" from Word Set 1 - Greetings.

I added small Glitter Dot Peel Off Stickers to each of the hinges, rather than punching holes for brads.

Here is the look at the front of the card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Dashing Through the Snow

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. All week I will be sharing something Christmas related ... this is day 2.

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I created using the Charm Accordion die set from Karen Burniston.

I used the Little Santa Agenda; Little Reindeer Agenda and Puffy Holiday Greetings stamp sets from Mama Elephant to decorate my card.

For the square panels, I cut these from white cardstock, sponged on Broken China Distress Oxide ink and spritzed with water. I then added a snow bank created by using the snow border from the Nature Edges die set. Once Santa and a reindeer was added I added some white Nuvo Drops.

The tree charm in the centre is from the Winter Charms die set and I added some red Nuvo Drops to the tree.

Here is a look at the front of the card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Stamps: Little Santa Agenda; Little Reindeer Agenda; Puffy Holiday Greetings - Mama Elephant
Paper: White; Red; DP - Close to My Heart
Dies: Charm Accordion; Nature Edges; Winter Charms - Karen Burniston

Ahoy Happy Birthday Matey

Ahoy there Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing a few more new die sets released by Karen Burniston this month. Karen Burniston has released 5 new die sets and I am sharing three of the sets on this card.

First up I have created an accordion card using the Charm Accordion die set. I die cut the main accordion die 1 1/2 times so I could have 3 pages to my accordion card. I also die cut some patterned paper that had stripes two going up and down and the other going across to give the pages a slightly different look.

To decorate the card I used the new Cat & Dog die set which includes a dies for the cat and dog and also some accessories to go with it. Karen has also released a fun Tiny Accessories 1 die set which includes some accessories to dress up the characters as pirates, glasses, hats etc. I couldn't resist using the pirate accessories to dress up my cat and dog images for this card.

Of course I had to add a pirate themed sentiment to my card in the centre page.

For the charms on this card I converted the bone and fish from the Cat and Dog die set into a charm by using the hanging hole from the star which is included in the Charm Accordion Die set. I sandwiched two of each image between the hanger and then covered the images with gold glitter so they looked a little bit like treasure.

Along the bottom of the inside of the card I added the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU which is from the Word Set 2 - Birthday die set. I added this to a strip of white card and cut the ends in a slant.

To finish off the inside I added gold glittered stars on either side of the sentiments.

For the front of the card I added a sentiment from the new Word Set 4 - Just Because die set.

As well as adding a couple of stars (from the Charm Accordion die set), I also added some Nuvo Drops in black and gold around the front of the card.

Here is another look at the front of my card when it is folded flat ready to be placed in an envelope.

October 2017 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

This month our challenge is .... "G-G-G-GHOST!" - Halloween cards. Make 'em cute or make 'em creepy. Can't decide? Go for an "Awww . . . Eww!" combination (cute front, creepy inside).

This time around I decided to use the Charm Accordion for the base of my card. I wanted to be able to have room on the bottom to create a Halloween scene, so when I die cut the pages for my card I placed the top cutting plate so it didn't cut the bottom part of the die so I was able to make it longer.

Along the bottom of each panel, I added the graveyard scene from the Halloween Scene die set. I added the hands from the Halloween Elements to the left hand panels. and a couple of ghosts.

To join the small rectangles together I used the charm accordion rectangle included in the die set and then layered on vellum spider webs and a spider. I added a few other vellum spider webs to the top part of the card.

Here is a close up of the last two pages of my accordion card. I added the "to you!" sentiment from the Word Set 3 - Birthday die set.

Here is a look at my card from the front when it is folded flat ready to be placed in an envelope. I used the "Boo!", hands and ghost which are all included in the Halloween Elements die set.

Don't forget to visit Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

Happy Yappy Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our Paper Pros challenge for August. This time around our challenge is hosted by Raquel Mason.

Our challenge this month is to create a monochromatic card - use different hues of the same color.

I create monochromatic cards a fair bit, the only time I have trouble with them is when I have to do them for a challenge LOL! I know dumb!!!!!

For my card I decided to try out Karen Burnistons "Staggered Charm Accordion" that she created for our challenge card last month. It is always good to be able to use the dies or stamps we own in ways other than what they were intended. Of course to I had to use Karen's new Charm Accordion die set to be able to make it.

To decorate my card I used MFT Stamps Playful Pups which I fell in love with when I first saw them.

For the charms on my card I used one of Karen's old Pop It Ups die sets .... the Props 4 and die cut paws to hang on the charm window. I also added the birthday sentiment to my card using the Word Set 2 - Birthday die set.

Here is a look at the front of my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

As you can see I added a birthday sentiment to a fishtail banner.

You can see what the other "Paper Pros" created for this challenge on their blogs:

Orange, Black and White

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month finishes off her month with one last challenge.

According to the Days of the Year calendar today is International Tiger Day. Create a card using the colors Orange, Black and White.

For my card this week I decided to play with Karen Burniston's Charm Accordion die set again. At first I was just going to die cut the main die once to create a two page card but then I remembered Karen's recent card/tutorial where she converted this into a three page card so figured I should give it a go. I love when you can get a different look just by using the same die.

While I was putting together my card, I spied the cute Tiger which sitting on my desk. I had stamped and cut these out a few months ago and was waiting for the right card to add it too, when I looked at the other images in the Simon Says Stamp Critter Costume Party stamp set I thought a few of them would work on my card.

I used the Word Set 2 - Birthday to create the birthday sentiment along the bottom of my card and also added black and orange Nuvo drops for a bit of fun.

Here is a look at my card when it is folded ready to be placed in an envelope.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Happy Happy Birthday to You!

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

According to the days of the year calendar, today is International Rock Day! So for our challenge this week Maryann has asked us to use the colors of stone (greys, browns, black, white end) on our cards.

When I was looking for patterned papers for another project I needed to create, I came across some papers that were the colors of stone, so I decided to pull them out just in case they would work for what I wanted to do for this challenge (which at that point I had no idea what that would be).

I went to sit at my desk to start on the other project and I see an elephant stamp set and those papers sitting there! Elephants are grey ... and I had grey polka dotted paper in the pile so I knew what I would be doing!

To create my card I used Karen Burniston's new Charm Accordion die set ... this can be used by die cutting once or multiple times. I decided to die cut it twice and join using the hinges supplied in the set.

To decorate my card I used the MFT Stamps Adorable Elephants stamp set. When my sister sees this card on Facebook, she will think it is for her birthday as that is coming up in a few days time and she loves elephants ... but I have other plans for her birthday card haha!

Along the bottom of the card I used the Word Sentiments 2 - Birthday die set from Karen Burniston's new collection to say "Happy Happy Birthday to you!"

I used the heart charms that come in the Charm Accordion die set, which I glittered to hand in the small squares.

Here is a look at the front of the card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:
