July 2018 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our July Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is .... Sweet Summer.

The inspiration for my card today came from the designer paper I used on the side of the card. I loved all the multi colored ice blocks.  I also thought it might be fun to have these cute birds from My Favorite Things Toucan Can Do It to be enjoying an ice block after all that hard work exercising 😀.

For my card I used Karen Burniston's Tag Book Pop-up die set. Instead of making a tag book, I added it to the inside of a card. It's been a while since I have used this technique with this die set.

For the bottom corners of the card, I used one of the circles from the Crosshatch Circles die set to help highlight the birds.

The ice blocks are from the Sweet Treat Charms die set. For the sentiment I used the "Sweet" from the Word Set 6 - Summer die set.

The "Friend" sentiment comes from the Words Set 1 - Greetings die set.

For the front of the card I used the Crosshatch - Ovals to add to the centre of the card. I added some grass to the smaller oval using the grass border from the Nature Edges die set.

The birthday sentiment comes from the Words Set 2 - Birthday die set which I die cut 4 times to get a thicker sentiment.

Don't forget to visit Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month.

I would love to learn how to do this card! I just ordered the tag book dies, but I don’t understand how you secured it to the inside of the card.

you will need to use 12 inch cardstock ... cut 12 inches to whatever width you desire. Fold cardstock in half so it is ?? inches x 6 inches. Measure from the fold line on each side of the inside 3 inches. Draw a line. Use this line to adhere the tag portion of the card that is normally adhered to the tag if making a Pop-up Tag Book. Hopefully that helps. If you have any problems, just let me know

I, too, would love to see how you measured this, can you share? Did you cut any of the pop up pieces off?

no all the inner tag part of the card is all there, It is just hidden by the Designer paper. I will try and do a tutorial in the future, it won't be the next card I do like this as it is already made. But I will work on doing something.
