An Alota Nativity

alota-mojo98-nativity-wm

It is time for another challenge over on the Alota Rubber Stamps Paper Craft Planet Group. This week the challenge is hosted by Helene Kempf. You have two weeks from today to participate in this challenge and you also have a chance of winning some wonderful stamps if you card is selected randomly from all the entries received.

So what’s the challenge … the theme this time round is “Denominational Celebrations”. As you can see I decided to create a Christmas card as that is one of the biggest demoninational celebrations I can think of.

I used the “Mary, Joseph & Baby Jesus” bug stamp which is available from Alota Rubber Stamps. I also used the MOJO98 sketch for the layout of my card.

I Pick You!

Hi everyone ... I have another "Alota Rubber Stamps" card to share with you today. This uses a number of stamps from this company.

I stamped the house side first and then masked this to create my grass, trees, and sky. The girl and dog are stamped on separate white card and cut out and attached over my scene.

I used my copic air brush system to create my sky and grass area. I also used my score it tool to create the raised score lines along the side and bottom of my card.

Stamps: Kid; Tree; House Side; Dog; Sentiment - Alota Rubber Stamps
Paper: White; Black; Really Rust - SU
Other: Black Ink; Oval Punch; Score It Tool; Foam Tape; Copic Air Brush System; Copics

Another Christmas Card!

Hi everyone and Happy Monday.

My CCEE Stamper friends and I are still taking a short break from the challenges we normally do every Monday. However if you enjoy seeing what we come up with each week or like to play along you may want to check out our CCEE Stampers blog a little later today. We will be posting one of our older challenge we did last year so that you can also play along ... there will also be a link to a tutorial. We will be back to our normal weekly challenge at the beginning of the New Year which is only next week ... time flies when your having fun!

Anyway today I am sharing another of the Christmas cards I created earlier in the year but haven't as yet posted.

This card is a variation of one I created way back in June for Beate's Weekend Sketch challenge ... you can see that one here. I liked the other one a lot but decided that it used too much card and was a little too much work to mass produce for Christmas cards ... so I came up with this version ... which now I have to say I like even better.

Recipe:
Stamps: Thomas Kincade Christmas Village - CHF; Sentiment - Stamp It Aust
Paper: White; Silver; Not Quite Navy & Real Red - SU
Other: Not Quite Navy SU Ink; Red Ribbon; Circle Punches; Foam Tape; Score It Board

Woof - Merry Christmas!

How many of you have dressed your dogs up for Christmas hehe! I know I have. My dogs looked so cute in there little Santa hat and suit .... however living in Australia where Christmas Day is normally hot ... I don't let them wear it for long as they would get too hot!

This little dog reminds me of my two dogs dressing up ... and is this week's Stamp of the Week for Spiral Whisper. If you purchase this stamp this week you can buy it for 10% off the normal price. I added liquid applique to the hat the dog is wearing. The top portion of the red card is embossed using the snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder. The two lines along the bottom portion of the red card were created using a score it board. Don't forget to check out the Spiral Whisper blog to see the rest of the design teams cards using this stamp.

and now to my card!

I am sure we have all experienced " one of those days" hehe ... it seems poor Ethel here has .... I am not sure what I problem is but it looks to me she might be waiting for her hubby to come how the way she is holding that frying pan ... ouch!!!!!

This is Beate's weekend sketch challenge .... this time round I decided to flip the sketch. I paper pierced three of the corners of the panel that the main image is stamped on ... the fourth is hidden by the sentiment so I didn't bother with that one. I layered my DP onto a piece of purple card before placing it onto the base card. I used my score it board to create the two rows of score lines at the bottom of the card. The ribbon I used for this was actually white ... I used my alcohol markers to get the color I needed.

VSN Jan 08 Day 2

VSN is over for another weekend, it has been a fun with weekend with lots of great challenges for us to participate in. The theme this weekend was "Girls Night Out" so all the challenges related in some way around this. I really enjoyed playing the challenges, chatting to some of you and supporting the other hostesses. If you haven't had time to play and still would like to then there is still time just head over to the VSN forum and check out the challenges, as long as the card takes you 45 mins to create once you start stamping you are fine .... your card does need to be in the appropriate gallery by 3pm Sunday ET.

Here are my samples from todays challenges. Being a hostess for VSN I am able to play the challenges prior to this weekend ... this helps us check that the challenges are do-able in the time limit etc. Even though we get to play before hand we still have to stick to all the VSN rules eg the 45 mins time limit etc.

The first challenge today that I did was "Let's do our Nails" for this challenge we had to create a card using the polished stone technique. This isn't my most favorite card out of all the ones I did .... but we all have some we don't like as much as others.

Recipe: Stamps: Magenta (dragonfly); Stamp In Style - (Dragonfly word)
Paper: White Gloss; Certainly Celery & Garden Green - SU
Other: Black Ink; lettuce, pesto and bottle adirondack alcohol inks; Black Brads; Score It Board

This card was for the "Bling It On" challenge ... we had to give our card some form of bling .... glitter, sparkles anything as long as it was bling.

I recently received these fun martini rhinestone embellishments from my friend Tosh .... and as soon as I saw this challenge I thought of them. The only stamping for this card is the verse on the outside and inside.

The inside sentiments reads: "Happiness is clean underwear and a dirty Martini."

You might understand why I would want a clean underwear stamp further down this post.

Recipe: Stamps: Happiness Is - Club Stamp; Dirty Martini Text (Inside) - Rubbernecker Paper: Black Card; Grey Card; Pixie Pink - SU; Midnight Rouge DP - Cherry Arte Other: Black Ink; Martini Rhinestone Embellishment - Me & My Big Ideas
"Everyone Needs Closure" was the theme for the next challenge .... the idea was to make a card using a different fold or closure. I decide to do create a Z fold card

Recipe: Stamps: Boy with Dog - High Hopes; Hi - Impression Obsession
Papers: White; Old Olive, Cool Caribbean & Cameo Coral - SU; Retro DP - DCWV
Other: Black Ink; Square & Circle Nestabilities; Brads

The next two cards (the one above and the one below) were my samples for the challenge I hosted this weekend. The challenge was "Put on Your Big Girl Panties!", the idea was to create a panty card of some type. Participants could either make their panty card using the template I provided which would make the card above or they could make a card that used a panty stamp of some type.

Using the template I provided .... you are also able to make a bonus card if desired ... that is the card with the bra on it. I had fun making the above cards and thought the sentiments I chose worked so well with these two cards.

In case you can't read them the bra card says "You're a perfect pair" not exactly what was meant when this stamp was made I am sure ... but I am sure their are some who do have the perfect "pair" but that sure isn't me!

And as the panty card is showing the rear view of a person, I couldn't resist adding .... "I'm Behind You 100%"

Recipe: Stamps: Perfect Pair - Gina K Designs; Behind You 100% - Rubbernecker
Paper: Blush Blossom - SU; Retro DP - DCWV
Other: Chocolate Chip SU Ink; Pink Chalks

This is my second sample for my "Panty Card" challenge. I just love this dog! This was a very quick card, the sketch is one that Cammie did for the Gina K release party.

Recipe: Stamps: Dog - Rubbernecker; Verse - Missy B Designs Paper: White; Elegant Eggplant & Lavendar Lace - SU; DP - Penny Black Other: Black Ink; Circle & Square Nestabilities; CM cutter; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool

A friend gave me this stamp for Christmas and I thought it was perfect for the overall theme of the weekend so decided to use it for this next challenge ..... "Eyes Have It!" Of course for this challenge we had to use eyelets on our card. I used to love using eyelets and have lots of them but these days I tend to pick brads to eyelets, so it was fun to get out the old eyelets for this one.

Recipe: Stamps: Girl - Stamps Happen Papers: White; Black; Grey; Rose Red - SU Other - Black Ink; Eyelets; Script Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Foam Tape

And finally the last challenge of the weekend "Standing at the Fridge Door". The idea here was to use all our "leftovers" we had left out and create a grid type card.

I had some DP and scraps left over from the sketch card I did this week so I used those to create my card here ... I also had Riley Moose already stamped out so I grabbed him and colored him to suit the colors used here.

This is of course another of the Riley Moose stamps which will be released by Hanna Stamps on the 1st February.

Papers: White; Pumpkin Pie & Chocolate Chip - SU; Retro DP - DCWV

Hi .... Rain!

It is time for another of Beate's Weekend sketch challenges, this week we had to create a Z Fold card. If you aren't too sure how to make one of these cards Beate also provided a tutorial which you can find here.

For my card I decided to use the one stamp I came home with from the craft show on Wednesday ... it has been sitting on my desk calling to be used ever since I brought it home! I adapted the size of my Z Fold to suit the image, and of course I had to play with my nestabilities too. I used my score it board to create the border on the 3 sides of the base portion of this card for something different .... I also used this to score my card to get the right folds ... it definitely made it easier then having to find a ruler and make a mark etc .... the score it board has a ruler on it so it makes it easy to just position the card on the required mark and score! The little circle that holds the verse serves two purposes ... it is there for the greeting and also to help keep the card closed.

Recipe:
Stamps: Umbrella & Slicker - Whipper Snapper; Verse - Impression Obsession
Paper: Real Red; Summer Sun - Stampin' Up; White; DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Blue Brads; Square & Circle Nestabilities; Hole Punch; Score It Board
