Just Chicken In

Hi Crafty Friends,

"Just Chicken In" with you today to share a pop-up card I created.

I recently added Mama Elephants Zodiac Rooster and Little Chickie Agenda stamp sets to my stash, so for my card today I decided to create a Chicken Coop pop-up card.

I used Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up die set for the pop-up portion of the card. While this die is an actual cupcake image on the pop-up it also makes a fabulous generic pop-up like I used on my card today. I die cut the pop up from white cardstock and then another from patterned paper for the upper portion of the card. For the lower portion I used yellow inks and a blender brush to added color, and then splattered dark yellow and brown inks over the panel.

I also stamped a few chicken footprints over the sides of the base of the card.

I used Mama Elephant's Ornate Grid House for the Chicken Coop. I die cut the house from white & red cardstock. I then colored the white house using brown markers and used Honey Bee Stamps Shiplap Stencil to add the lines for the wood of the coop. I then trimmed the roof off the red house and added it to the decorated chicken coop. I used the house to trace out a solid panel and colored that with dark brown inks. Before adhering the two together, I die cut some grass panels from white cardstock and colored them with yellow/orange inks and added behind the openings of the house/coop.

I added some of the chickens from the Zodiac Rooster and Little Chickie Agenda stamp sets to the chicken coop, before adhering it to the pop-up panel.

I added a fence and grass to the back of the chicken coop, which is adhered to the back panel. I also added a sun to the top right corner of the card.

I used Lawn Fawn's Oliver's ABCs to spell out the word "Chicken" onto a white panel and adhered this to the lower portion of the card. I added a couple more of the chickens from the Zodiac Rooster stamp set. I stamped the "Just" and "In" which is part of the sentiment included in the stamp set onto black cardstock and added these two words to the chickens above and below the large "Chicken" word.

I used some of the same elements on the front of the card that I used on the inside.

I colored a white panel with yellow inks and splattered with yellow and brown inks and then stamps the chicken footprints all over the panel.

I added a few of the chickens from both of the stamps sets to an oval panel which is attached to the top portion of the card.

I added the word "Hi" to the oval panel above the chickens. I then added the word "Chickie" to the lower portion of the card.

Getting Old is for the Birds!

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Bonnie Sharp our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

It is National Poultry Day - a day that is close to my heart since we had egg layers for over 40 years!  My challenge is to create a chicken card - of course if you don’t have a chicken stamp, you can certainly use any type of fowl - cardinal, robin, flamingo - something with feathers!

I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Cupcake Pop-up Card die set ... I love how versatile this die is and how it can be used to pop up larger images.

To decorate my card I used some chicken themed stamps from Rubbernecker which I have had for years and never used. It always feels good when you finally get around to using some older stamps.

Here is a side on view of the inside of my card. To add to the "barn yard" scene I added clouds, a sun, a fence and grass using dies.

For the front of the card I stamped the chicken feet prints all over the background and added another rooster.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Picnic Time

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Joanne our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

July is National Hot Dog Month, probably due to the number of picnics that occur at this time of year.  Let’s have a picnic ‘connection’ on our cards this week.

When I think of picnics, I think of ants! So I decided to pull out my old Rubbernecker ants to create my card today. I stamped the ants onto white card and then used my Scan and Cut to cut them out ... this makes it sooooo easy!!!!

I created a Pull Card using the Rectangle Pull Card die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

When you "pull' the card open it reveals the ants picnic scene. I also used the slider die from the Oval Pull Card die set for the ant with the picnic blanket for a parachute.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Real Jazzy Birthday

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a card I created using a few dies my daughter sent me from London for my birthday.

As you can see I have created a Centre Step Card and then decorated it with dies from Tonic Studio.

Here is another look at my card this time taken at a different angle so you can see the folds in the card.

After die cutting the Saxophone Player from black card I adhered it to white card and then used my copics to color in the various parts of the image.

For the inside of the card I added the music border (Perfect Harmony) and added a sentiment which is one I have had for a number of years and works well with this image.

Stamps: Have a Real Jazzy Birthday - Rubbernecker
Paper: White; Black; Yellow; Type T DP - Fabscraps
Dies: Centre Stepper Card - Tattered Lace; Saxophone Solo; Musical Notes; Perfect Harmony - Tonic Studios
Other: Black Ink; Clear Double Sided Adhesive Tape 164mm; Foam Tape; Copics

If Friends Were Flowers

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Lyn McAuley our challenge hostess for the month finishes off the month with one last challenge.

In 1995 Massachusetts Governor William Weld declared February 28 Floral Design Day to honor educator Carl Rittner, the founder of the Rittner School of Floral Design. Lets take this week in the dead of winter to do some paper and ink floral designs!

Of course it isn't winter where I live we are at the end of summer, but it was fun to pull some flower stamps out to play this week.

For my card this week I used the Hanging Charm Pull Tab die set designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I have been having lots of fun playing with this new die set.

I decided to pull out an older image to use on my card this time round, I am hoping to use a few more older stamps this year ..... but we will see how that goes. This cute Frog with Flowers is an older one from Rubbernecker stamps.

Here is a view of my card taken at a different angle so you can see the tab which opens and closes the piece at the front to reveal the secret message.

This is how my card looks when it comes out of the envelope and it is closed. You then need to pull the tab where it says "Pull Here" to make the frame pop up.

I have kept my card as a flat card rather than one that opens up, I just added the card to the bottom of the card for my sentiment and to hand write a message to whoever ends up receiving this card.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

“Sea”ing You Makes Me Smile!

C4C194-SeaingYou-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. This week Andrea Murdock continues to bring us the challenges for July.

For our challenge this week Andrea has challenged us with the theme … Marine Life! Let’s see your Aquatic themed cards.

You have all probably figured by now that I LOVE Karen Burniston’s Pop N Cuts dies by Sizzix so this week I decided to use these to create my card. This was a fun card to create Smile.

On the outside of my card I have used the Mermaid from The Greeting Farm, it is one I have had in my stash for ages. I used the La La Land Crafts Palm Tree to create the seaweed behind the mermaid …. I die cut the palm tree twice and placed it on either side of her. The sentiment is one from Rubbernecker.

C4C194-SeaingYou2-wm

Here is the inside of my card. As you can see I created an underwater scene using the Sizzix Pop N Cuts Circle Label insert as the base. I again used the mermaid and the palm tree for the seaweed behind the mermaid.

C4C194-SeaingYou3-wm

As you can see in the photo above … I have added a floating floor to my card so I could have the fish and clam in the front of the mermaid also pop up … You can find the template for the Floating Floor on Karen Burniston’s blog … she also has a You Tube video explaining how to do this … it is very easy to do.

All the fish and sentiment used on the inside are by Rubbernecker.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.

Life’s A Picnic

CCEE1322-PicnicPopUp-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostess for the month Shirley Quarry brings us another fun challenge.

Shirley has challenged us to create a card or project using “It's a picnic” theme.

This week I have created another pop up card using Karen Burniston’s Pop N Cuts Dies from Sizzix. Of course how can you have a picnic without ants … so I have dug up a few of my Rubbernecker ants from my stash.

CCEE1322-PicnicPopUp5-wm

I used the Pop N Cuts base with the Circle Label insert to create my pop up card. For my picnic basket I shortened the handle as it was too big for my card and it looks more like picnic basket this way.

CCEE1322-PicnicPopUp4-wm

I created a floating floor to my card so I could add the ant and the big sub and bottles …. I found a template to do this on Karen Burniston’s blog.

CCEE1322-PicnicPopUp3-wm

These ants look like they are having lots of fun at this picnic … don’t you think!

CCEE1322-PicnicPopUp2-wm

Here is another view of my pop up card so you can see ants in the background etc.
