Swinging By

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Slimline card using a fun die from Spellbinders. I have admired this girl swinging for a while and I recently had the opportunity to purchase it at a reduced price, which as you can see I did.

After putting all the pieces together to create the image, I decided to add it to a Slimline card. I pulled out some patterned paper of the garden scene which worked well with the swing, so I used it. The flowers are also included in the die set, so I added some to the scene.

To finish off the front of the card I added a sentiment from Neat & Tangled.

For the inside of my card I added the Big Hi sentiment from Stamp Market, I then stamped the birthday sentiment underneath. Finally I added some of the flowers randomly around the sentiment.

Snowman Hugs

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to my blog. For my card today I have created a Triple Oval Accordion card, using Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Triple Oval Accordion die set from her Showstoppers 2 Collection.

To decorate my card, I used Spellbinders/Stampendous' Snowman Hugs die set and coordinating stamp set.

As I had some of the patterned paper I used on the front leftover, I added some to the two outer oval panels to add some interest to the card. One of these panels can be seen when the card is closed, so I thought this would make it look a little more attractive.

For the centre oval I added a Christmas sentiment from the Christmas Sentiments die set from Made to Surprise.

As you can see, I also added another large snowman to the panel on the right, this is the panel which will be on the top when the card is closed.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to fit into an envelope. I kept this fairly simple as the focus of this card is when it is opened.

Hay There!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Slimline card I created recently.

For the background of my card, I pulled out Hello Bluebird's Slimline Summer Woods Scene die set. I die cut the background in white cardstock and then coloured the various pieces using Distress Oxide Inks.

To decorate the card, I used Lawn Fawn's New Hay There Hayrides stamp set and the Hay There Hayrides - Mice Stamp set which coordinates with the first set.

I white embossed a sentiment using sentiments included in the stamp set.

For the inside of my card I created a pop-up card. I adhered blue and green cardstock to the base of the card. For the grassy hills, I die cut the green cardstock using Lawn Fawn's Slimline Stitched Hillside Borders die set.

I used the pop-up die included in the Street Lantern Pop-up die set to pop-up the tractor and trailers.

I used a circle die to die cut the yellow sun. I also stamped some birds in the sky using a Made To Surprise stamp set.

Finally I added a sentiment using three of the sentiments included in the Hay There Hayrides stamp set.

Birthday Love

Hi Crafty Friends,

September down here in Australia is Spring, so today I am sharing a fun spring themed card using stamps and dies from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott.

A while ago I purchased two of the Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Twist & Pop die sets from her Twist & Pop Collection. Not only do you get the dies to create a Twist & Pop style card, but you also get heaps of decorative dies to help decorate your card.

For my card today I used the 6" x 6" Garden Delights Twist & Pop Card die set which includes the dies to create the card base, twist & pop mechanism and garden themed dies. After assembling my card, I then decorated my card using the garden themed dies included in the set.

For the birthday sentiment I used one of the sentiment dies included in the Textures Wildflower Collection Sentiments die set.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple, adding some blue cardstock for the sky and grass along the bottom of the card. I added more of the garden themed dies to the card. To finish off the front of the card, I added a birthday sentiment to the top right corner of the card.

Here you can see my card beginning to close. The twist panel is concertinaing together ready to twist towards the front of the card.

Drive Me Happy

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a 5 x 7 Card I created recently.

For the layers of this card I used Card Making Magic's 5 x 7in Alternative Stitched Nestables die set.

I used Lawn Fawn's On the Road die set for the road at the bottom of the card.

The car is Studio Light's Creative Craft Lab Car die set. I also used Benny Bear from the Missees Pets line from Studio Light.

I pulled out an older Pine Tree die from Sizzix to add the trees on either side of the card.

Finally I used a sentiment from Stampendous, which is one I have had in my stash for years.

For the inside of the card, I added the road again to the bottom portion of my card. I used a mix of sentiments from two Honey Bee Stamps stamps sets to add the sentiment.

Other Supplies:
  • Missees Pets Benny Bear Stamp/Die Set - Studio Light
  • Drive Me Happy Stamp - Stampendous (discontinued)
  • Pine Tree Die - Sizzix (discontinued)
  • Love Bug Stamp Set - Honey Bee Stamps (discontinued)

Party Pirates

Ahoy my Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a pirate themed pop up card I created recently.

For my card today, I pulled out Trinity Stamps Party Pirates Stamp/Die set which I purchased recently, to make this fun pop-up card. The style of pop up I used here is a tiered pop up. I added three tiered blocks to this card, adding sand or ocean to each of the pop-up blocks.

I also used Trinity Stamps Wavy Lines Background on the bright blue cardstock for the ocean.

In the photo above, you can see the three block tiered pop-ups I added to this card.

I used Lawn Fawns Stitched Hillside Borders and Stitched Wave Borders die sets for each of the different layers.

Here is a look at the front of the card. I kept the front fairly simple seeing the focus is on the inside of the card. I used some of the same elements on the front that I used on the inside of the card.

Chess Slimline Pop-up

Hi Crafty Friends,

According to the Days of the Year website, today (20th July) is International Chess Day. As I had ordered a chess theme stamp set from Clearly Besotted a month or so ago this seemed like the perfect time to pull it out and make a card using it.

As you can see I created a Slimline Pop-up card to create my chess themed scene. The chess themed stamp set is Clearly Besotted's Your Move stamp set, I just love those cute characters holding the different chess pieces.

For the card I used Karen Burniston's Mini Pops Pop-up and Small Scene Bam Box die sets to create the pop-up elements of the card. The two character's at the very back use one of the single pop-up dies from the Mini Pops Pop-up die set. The other four characters are popped up using the Small Scene Bam Box die set. I die cut the bam box from green cardstock to match the grass base and also added the grass piece to the front to hide the bam box.

I used the sun from the Landscape Scene die set to add the sun to the top right hand side of my card.

The greenery at the back of the card uses a die from Spellbinders Hummingbird and Lily die set.

For the "Happy Birthday" I used Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes stamp set with coordinating dies and hot foil plate. The "birthday" is foiled using black foil using the solid plate to get the negative sentiment image.

I computer generated the "fun and games" sentiment at the bottom of the card.

I kept the front of the card fairly simple, seeing the focus is on the inside of the card. To help keep the card closed, I used the Long Flap and Closure die set, using magnets to keep the card closed.

I added a few more of the cute characters holding the chess pieces to decorate the front.

For the sentiment, I used Karen Burniston's Alphabet die set to make the word "Chess". I then added the  "Wanted To Say" using a Julie Hickey stamp set.

Here is a look at the front of my card with the Flap open. As you can see, I die cut another of the flaps from green cardstock and adhered it to the front of the card, to help ground the characters. This is hidden when the flap is closed.

Picnic Easel Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

According to the Days of the Year Web Site, today (3rd July) is National Picnic Month. Seeing I had recently received some picnic themed stamps/dies of course I had to pull them out to play.

This card using stamps and dies from La-La Land Crafts May Kit of the month which includes two stamp sets and three die sets all with a picnic theme. I love the picnic table and basket included in this set.

I decided to create a 5 x 7 Easel Card. For the background panel on the top part of the card I created a scene pattern paper from Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's Twist and Pop Patterned Paper Pad, this was the perfect size to use for this card and made the background very easy.

I used Lawn Fawn's Watercolor Wishes Paper Pad for the base portion of the card.

The card folds flat, and will easily go into a 5 x 7 envelope.

I paper pieced the girls pants, top and hat using various patterned papers.

Here is a look at the base of my card. I added the sentiment to the centre of the card to use as a stopper for the easel. I added the cat and watermelon to the right corner. I die cut another piece of red gingham paper to use as a picnic blanket and added more of the food to the blanket.

Have A Novel Birthday

Hi Crafty Friends,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Today I am sharing a book themed Slimline Pop-up card I created recently.

To create the slimline portion of my card, I used Picket Fence Studios Slimline Die Cutting System including their new Slimline Oval Fence die set.

To decorate my card, I used Mama Elephants Book Club stamp set and one of the sentiments from the Storybook Sayings stamp set.

The grass & mushrooms behind the fence is from Lawn Fawn and the grass in front of the fence is from Trinity Stamps.

For the inside of the card, I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Little Labels Pop-up die set. I also used one of the slimline borders from the Long Nature Edges die set.

I again used stamps from Mama Elephant's Book Club and Storybook Sayings stamp sets to decorate the labels.

Here is a look at the inside of the card showing the card at an angle, so you can see the pop up portion of the card a little better.
