Scented Geraniums and Blog Hopping Fun!

Welcome to our very first MFT Blog Hop ... if you didn't arrive on here from Cindy Haffner's blog then you may want to go to Kim van der sanden's blog and start at the beginning ... once you get to the end of the blog hop ... don't forget to leave a comment on that blog so you are in for a chance for some fabulous blog candy.

My card today uses another of the new stamps which will be released by MFT Stamps later today..... this is another of the Annie La Point stamps called "Geranium".

The layout for this card is one I found online last week by Papertake Weekly, this is the first time I have done one of their challenges. I used the forest branches cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture to the cameo coral panel of my card.

Don't forget to join us tonight 9pm - 11pm EST for the new release cocktail party over on the MFT member forums of SCS.

Now it is time for you to leave me so you can continue on your blog hopping journery .... you are now going to visit Jen del Muro's blog. Thanks for dropping by!

    No If's, And's, Or Butt's!

Don't you just love this cute chicken butt stamps hehe ... this is part of a new set called "Lil Behind" that was released by H & M Stamps earlier in the month. The inspiration of the set came from my friend Cindy Motherway who is also a member of the CCEE Stampers team that I do challenge with every Monday.

Heather the owner of H & M Stamps was kind enough to send Cindy enough of these stamp sets to send to each of the CCEE girls .... this will be what we will be using for our supply challenge on the last week of October ... so if you want to play along you have plenty of time to get this set.

As there are soooo many stamps featuring different animal butts (a chicken, horse, rabbit, cow, bear & dog) and tons of butt related sentiments .... I couldn't resist making a card with one of the images already .... I still have plenty of other images to use for my card in October!

For my card I used a sketch I found on the Techno Stampers blog back in August and have been wanting to use ... I thought these little chick butts would be perfect for this one. I stamped the "No if's, and's, or butt's about it ..." sentiment all around the edge of the yellow card.

Here is the inside of the card .... I stamped the same sentiment again and added another chick butt to the bottom right hand corner.

    Recipe:
    Stamps: Lil Behind - H & M Stamps
Paper: White; Black; Sun Yellow & Pumpkin Pie - SU; DP - Darcie
Other: Black Ink; Pumpkin Pie SU Ink; Word Window Punch; Oval Punch; Orange Brads; Foam Tape; Copics

    You Hoo!

Amy of Prairie Paper & Ink blog is hosting a challenge for A-Muse-A-Palooza. I don't have any A muse stamps and the time limit is also probably up now ... but I have always wanted to play with this sketch for some time now so I decided to play anyway just for fun!

I used this cute owl stamp from Penny Black ..... I first discovered this stamp when my friend Tosh used it on a card she created and of course I just had to have it as she looks soooooo adorable (the owl ... although so does Tosh hehe!) The sentiment is from another Owl set this time from Hero Arts which I received from Tosh earlier in the year for my birthday.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Owl from Fresh New Day Set - Penny Black; Sentiment from You Hoo Owls Set - Hero Arts
Paper: White; Black; Real Red - SU; DP - K & C Company
Other: Black Ink; Red Grosgrain Ribbon; Square Brad; Circle Punch; Foam Tape

    Dolphin Beautiful Day!

A few weeks ago Mercy Kerin of Lord Have Mercy's blog posted a sketch challenge, which is the sketch I used for this particular card today. The stamps used are more of the new stamps from H & M Stamps which will be released Friday 25th April, not too long to wait now everyone :).

I stamped the dolphin onto white card and then cut it out and attached to the white panel using foam tape for a more 3D effect. The folded cool caribbean card is stamped all over using a water ripples stamp I have had for some time. I wanted to include this sentiment, however it was too long to go across the card so I decided to stamp it up the card instead. I used my paper piercing mat & tool to pierce the top left and bottom right corners on the dolphin panel.

Don't forget you have the opportunity to save money when you order your H & M Stamps this Friday 25th April. It's easy!!!!!!!!! All you have to do is be one of the 1st 200 customers to use the following code when you place your order of $25 or more and you will get to save $5. The code you will need to use is: HMDT42508

    Recipe:
Stamps: Sealife Set - H&M Stamps; Water Ripples - Print Blocks
Paper: White; Cool Caribbean, More Mustard, Turquoise & East Coast Prep DP - SU
Other: Black Ink; Cool Caribbean SU Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Blue Brads; Foam Tape

    A Couple of Challenge Cards

I have a couple more cards to share with you today .... both cards use the new Gina K stamps which were released yesterday.

My first card uses the "King of the Grill" stamp set ... this is a great set for the men in your life. I decided to use it for the sketch challenge that my friend Cammie is hosting for the Gina K release party.

I used the BBQ, tools & one of the sentiments from this set to create my card. The BBQ is layered using my circle nestabilities. The top portion of this card has been embossed using my distress stripes cuttlebug embossing folder ... after embossing it I sponged over some weathered wood distress ink to highlight the raised areas. The screw brads also help give this card a masculine feel ... these are also available through Gina K. Finally the BBQ tools are stamped and cut out and attach to the top right side of my card.

    Recipe:
    Stamps:
King of the Grill Set - Gina K Designs
Paper: White; Basic Gray, Real Red & Night of Navy - SU
Other: Black Ink; Weathered Wood Distress Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Distress Stripes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Screw Brads; Foam Tape.

The featured stamper this week on SCS is sparklegirl ... I looked through her gallery on Sunday but as I didn't have time right then to create a card I bookmarked one I thought I would try to CASE when I had some more time..... you can find her card here.

As per the rules of the featured stamper challenge I had to change at least two things on my card. Here are the changes I made:
    • Changed the stamps used
    • Changed the colors
    • Used a different ribbon
    • Used different brads
The set used here is the new 'Comfort & Peace' set .... this set is great to create sympathy cards or for those occasions when we don't have the right words for a card ... you do now!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Comfort & Peace - Gina K Designs
Paper: White; Regal Rose & Old Olive
Other: Black Ink; Pink & Olive Marvy Markers; Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon; Pink Brads; Rectangle Nestabilities; Foam Tape.

    Koala-ty Day!

This week's challenge with my fab/sassy friends on SCS was a sketch challenge .... it is based on a card one of our fab/sassy friends had created for a recent challenge of ours. For my card I used my koala & sentiment I received recently from High Hopes Stamps .... I just think this image is sooo adorable and the sentiment is so clever .... I love it when you can get a sentiment that works so well with the image you are using.

I used a gumleaf image to stamp on the base card of this card .... using river rock ink & card ... the two top panels are river rock DP.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Sydney Koala & Sentiment - High Hopes Stamps; Gumleaf border - unknown
Paper: White; River Rock, Wasabi, Basic Grey & River Rock DP
Other: Black Ink; River Rock SU Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Wasabi Striped Ribbon; Green Brads; Foam Tape

    Let's Meet For Coffee!

My Gina K Designs stamps which were released yesterday arrived today ... so of course I had to sit down and create a card using them.

I decided to combine this week's SCS color challenge (Pomegranate; Basic Grey & Black) with the sketch challenge that Carolyn King hosted yesterday at the Gina K Designs release party over at the Member forums on SCS. I used the "Thinking of You" set which is designed by a new designer for Gina K .... Rupa Shevda!

The background is created using the swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder ... if you haven't noticed I just love this folder. I used my corner rounder to create the scallops at the bottom of the black and pomegranate panels ... layering them once I had punched the scallops. Gina had also included some fun flowers and brads ... which were just the perfect color for this week's color challenge ... I think she must have ESP :) .... because that was exactly what I needed to finish my card off.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Thinking of you - Gina K Designs
Paper: White; Black; Pomegranate & Basic Grey - SU
Other: Black; Pomegranate SU Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Ticket Corner Punch; Corner Rounder Punch; Black & White Stripe Ribbon; Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Flower & Brad - Gina K Designs; Foam Tape

    It's Your Day!

Well I finally succumbed and had to order some of those cute Magnolia stamps I have been seeing on SCS and various blogs around town. As they arrived on Monday and I hadn't had a chance to ink them as yet due to Design Team commitments I was hoping that todays sketch challenge on SCS would be suitable for these stamps .... and it was!!!! :)

I also managed to get a few of the new cuttlebug embossing folders today as well ... so of course I had to use one of those as well hehe!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Tilda - Magnolia Stamps; Sentiment - MFT Stamps
Paper: White; Black; Cool Caribbean, Gable Green - SU; DP - ??
Other: Black Ink; Word Window Punch; Pink Grosgrain Ribbon; Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Flowers; Blue Brad; Crystal Stickles; Foam Tape

    You Make Me Happy!

I am really enjoying playing with the new Gina K Designs stamps! This is another card made from the "Baskets of Happiness" set ... again although it can be an Easter set it certainly isn't limited to Easter. I created this card for this week's sketch challenge over at SCS.

I stamped the flower image onto white card and colored .... I used my paper piercing mat & tool to created the pierced corners in all the corners. I then used my script cuttlebug embossing folder to create the background on my blue panel, the raised areas were highlighted by sponging blue bayou over the top of them. I had to color my grosgrain ribbon to get the color I needed ... this was done using my alcohol markers. The background on my pink card was created using Cornish Heritage Farm's Weave Backgrounder with pretty in pink ink.

The plastic flower outline is another new product from Gina K Designs ... these come as a white color that you can then color using various products ... I used my alcohol markers again.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Baskets of Happiness - Gina K Designs; Weave Backgrounder - CHF
Paper: White; Black; Pretty In Pink, Rose Red & Blue Bayou - SU
Other: Black Ink; Blue Bayou SU Ink; White Grosgrain Ribbon; Pink Brads; Script Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Plastic Flower Outline (Gina K Designs); Foam Tape

    Sending You Sunshine!

This card is for this week's MFT sketch challenge on the MFT member forums of SCS.

I stamped my scene onto white card and then used my rectangle nestabilities to create the layers for this piece. I used my score it board to create the score lines around the edge of the blue piece on the base of the card. Everything was colored using my alcohol markers including the sand and the sky.

Stamps: By the beach - My Favorite Things
Paper: White; Ballet Blue & Real Red - SU; DP - My Minds Eye
Other: Black Ink; Rectangle Nestabilities; Score It; Foam Tape

    Cupcakes .....Yum!!

It has been a little challenging getting my sketch card made today for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. My DH is busy putting the door on my stamp cupboard he made me some time back and a lot of the things I needed were in that cupboard is it has been a case of everytime he goes out for something to quickly grab something else I needed ... and of course I don't know at the start exactly what I will need as it is a work in progress ... hehe! But I finally did get it done and even the photo taken which was another problem as his tools and some of my stuff was on the table I take my photos!

I really enjoyed this sketch today .... and I got to use some of my au chocolat DP that I haven't used for soooo long. I think my card is pretty much self explanatory ... in case you can't see in the photo I did add 3 rows of paper piercing to the bottom of the card.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Tiers of Treats - Stampendous; Sentiment - Eat Cake Graphics
Paper: White; Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip & Au Chocolat DP - SU
Other: Black Ink; Pretty In Pink SU Ink; Oval Punch; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Brown Brads; Pink Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon; Foam Tape

    Perfect Package!

Today is my turn to host a challenge over at the Hanna Stamps members forum on SCS ... you are welcome to come and play too if you like!

My challenge is a sketch challenge .... you all know I enjoy doing sketch challenges. I used my rectangle nestabilites to do the scallop layers for both the image and the sentiment ... to get the size I needed for the sentiment, I actually cut out 3 scallop rectangles and joined them ... this is a great way of getting more out of your nestabilities.

Paper: White; Cool Caribbean, Real Red & Green Galore - SU; DP

    Boho Blossom

Hi .... well it is Wednesday again so time for another sketch challenge on SCS. I didn't take me long to decide what I was going to do ... and this card was inspired by a project which I created yesterday which I will be uploading to my blog tomorrow for another challenge.

I started by stamping the flower from boho blossoms twice ontoo white card using black ink and then cut them out, curled the leaves and layered them onto my white panel using a brad. I stamped the floral background from behind the scenes onto the rose red card and colored the flowers and dots using a white gel pen. These two panels were then attached to the cool caribbean panel .... I paper pierced the top right and bottom left corners of this panel and also added the hardware.

To finish I stamped "friendship" all around the rose red panel using rose red ink and then assembled the card.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Boho Blossoms & Behind the Scenes - My Favorite Things
Paper: White; Black; Rose Red & Cool Caribbean - SU
Other: Black Ink; Age Paper Distress Ink; Cool Caribbean & Rose Red SU Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; White Gel Pen; Hodgepodge Hardware; Deco Brad; Foam Tape

    Naughty!

Well ok this isn't really naughty hehe ... but I just couldn't resist putting this sentiment with this image when I created it yesterday ... I guess she is pretty naughty for geting in those leaves she is likely to scatter them all over the place again!!!!! But then again ... maybe someone pushed her into that leaf pile ... that would be naughty too!

This card is for this weeks MFT sketch challenge which can be found in the MFT members forum of SCS ... autumn is only a matter a weeks away down here in Australia ... although it doesn't feel like it is as it is still quite hot here and likely to be for at least another month or so yet.

I used my oval nestabilities to create my oval layers that the image is stamped onto ... the sentiment ovals were punched using SU's oval punches ... to get some green in the sentiment to match the image layers I punched out two more small overs and offset them under the white oval so some green showed. I also paper pierced the top and bottom right hand corners of the card.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Falling for You - MFT; Twisted Sentiments - MFT
Paper: White; Old Olive; Chocolate Chip & Pumpkin Pie - SU - Mellow DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Old Olive SU Ink; Celeste Blue Impress Ink; Oval Nestabilities; Oval Punches; Grosgrain Ribbon; Photo Corner Punch; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Brown Brads

    Sweet As You!

Tonight is the release of the new Gina K Designs stamps ..... so there is a release party happening on the Gina K member forum of SCS ... if you want to come join the party then come on over it will be held 7pm - 9pm central time.

Part of the party celebrations are a number of challenges ... this card above is for the sketch challenge hosted my Cammie aka Carolyn King ... so I decided I would make a quick card. My new release stamps haven't made it to me as yet so I decided to use one of the sets from the last release instead ... this one is from the stamps with a cause set "How Sweet It Is" ... moneys raised from this set go to help diabetes ... now that is a worthy cause!

This is a fairly simple card and design .... it is good to have some simplier cards to use on ocassions. I used my nestabilities to create my circles.

Paper: White; Cool Caribbean & Rose Red - SU; DP -??

    This Bugs for You!

This card wasn't made for any particular reason other than I just had to play with my new bug stamps ... I do enjoy this type of bug stamp where they look like people! I have been wanting to do Jen's (Iheart2stamp) "SFYTT" (sketch for you to try) that she posted on her blog earlier this week ... so I decided to use it for this card.

I would have normally colored these bugs in using red .. but after I found this DP in my collection ... I decided to follow a different path and go with a cranberry color instead. There was a sentiment that came with this stamp but as I didn't want mine to be a valentines card ... I chose to use this other sentiment instead ... that way I can use this card for various ocassions.

Recipe: Stamps: Lovebugs - Paper Pretties; Sentiment - Darcies
Paper: White; Black; Cranberry Crisp -SU; Christmas Stack Pack - DCWV
Other: Black Ink; Burgundy Grosgrain Ribbon; Black Brad; Foam Tape

    Hippo Love!

Today I managed to combine 3 challenges in the one card ... yahhhhhhh! To begin this is the sketch for Beate's weekend sketch challenge .. which I normally do on a Saturday.

My friend Amber is guest hosting the limited supply challenge ... and she told me yesterday that I had to do her challenge hehe .. which I have done! The challenge for this was to make a make a non traditional valentines day card ... not too hard cause I also made one the other day hehe ... but there were limits:
    • No flower stamps/cuttlebug/die cuts/rub ons, etc
    • No Heart stamps/cuttlebug/die cuts/rub ons, etc
    • No shades of red (that includes pink) ink, paper, ribbon, etc
    • Limited layers (try to keep it under 4)
    • embellishments are okay as long as they are not hearts/flowers or shades of red
I decided to use my Gina K hippo from the " Just so Hippy" set ... he is just sooo sweet! I think I met the challenge pretty well ... except maybe for the layers ... but it did say try ... and I tried and I couldn't do less then I did hehe!

Also on Thursday the Ways to Use it challenge was " going dotty" ... well there are plenty on dots on this one ... the DP, the cuttlebugged background and the brads are kind of dots too now aren't they hehe!

The hippo was stamped twice on white card and colored ... I cut out just the body of the second image and attached it over the first using foam tape. I masked the hippo to stamp the grass & clouds. I used my rectangle nestabilities die to create the scallop layer for the hippo.

I used my spots and dots cuttlebug embossing folder to create the background for my amethyst panel.

Did you know that Gina K is releasing some new stamps this Sunday! here are the deets:

Gina K Designs will be holding a release party on Splitcoaststampers in the forum on Sunday night from 7-9 p.m. central time (8-10 p.m. eastern). Join us for fun and games! Four new sets will be added to the store as well as some very cool new embellishments! Hope to see you there! Don't forget to check out Gina's blog if you want to see some sneak peeks!

    Serenity!

Here are a couple more things I created using the new sets from from My Favorite Things. These sets were released on Wednesday night 6th February if you are interested. FYI the "Twisted Sentiment" set can be found under limited editions if you are wanting that one.

This first item is a little note book I created using my bind it all ... I created the lined pages using excel and printed them out onto photocopy paper and cut to the size I wanted ... actually these pages were offcuts from the book I made last week for a challenge with my fab/sassy friends. I used my nestabilities to layer the main image.

The base of this card was a left over for a sketch I did on SCS recently ... I had created the card except for the main image and then decided that the card wasn't the correct size for the image I wanted to use at the time .... so I made another that worked better. But as there was nothing wrong with this base I kept it and it was sitting there on my desk.

I had already made the notebook above using theh same DP so I figured why not use this base to make a card to match the notebook.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Serenity Now & Twisted Sentiments - My Favorite Things
Paper: White, Pretty In Pink, Pomegranate - SU; Black; White; Rectangled DP - KI Memories
    Other: Black Ink;
    Rectangle Nestabilities; Foam Tape
