Smelling the Salt of the Ocean!

WildCard Ocean wm

Hi everyone, thanks for dropping by today!

Today I am sharing a card I created some years back with you all. After a bit of thought I have decided not to create a card just to fill a hole in my blog postings … I have already created over 300 cards this year and we are only up to August, so I really don’t need to make a card just for the sake of making a card. I still like to post everyday at this stage so I have decided to go through my files and post cards I made previously which I haven’t posted on my blog before.

My card I have for you is one called a “Wild Card” it was created using a templates which were popular about 10 or so years ago called Wild Card or Weird and Wacky Cards which basically meant a card that was an odd shape. They were lots of fun to make.

For my card that I have for you today I used a beach theme, stamping various images randomly over the front portion of my card as background, with one as the main image. The sentiment is stamped on vellum, torn along the edges and then attached to my card using eyelets.

WildCard Ocean2 wm

Here is the inside of my card, the portion where the white waves are showing can be seen from the outside of the card.

Let’s Get Wild!!!!!!

MFT-MusicWild1-wm Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.

This week it is again my turn to host the challenge. So let’s get wild!!!!!! This week we are going to create wild cards …. as in shape! These used to be popular some years back, and I have been revisiting this style of card recently here on my blog … you can see more by clicking on the wild card label under this blog post.

Basically wild card are an odd shape …. Instead of having parallel sides you will have sides that are on an angle.

For my card I decided to pull out one of my many templates I have for these style of cards … this one was designed by a company that is no longer in business. They called theirs Weird & Wacky Card templates.

I used the new MFT Stamps Inspired By Music stamp set to create my card. I also created a rosette at the top of my card using one of MFT’s newest die-namics the 1/4” Rosette Die …. I am loving this die and will be using it over and over for sure. One of the things I love about this die is that just by cutting down the length of your pieces are you have cut out the die you can get rosettes in all different widths to suit your project needs.

Here is the inside of my card. When my card was shut I traced around the front flap and then masked the part of the inside that didn’t show from the outside and then stamped the music notes along the side that did show from the outside.

The heart in the stamp set fits perfectly the die from the Stacking Hearts Die-namics set … so I cut out my die first. Inked up my stamp and turned it over so the stamped side is facing up and then carefully placed my heart over the stamp so it lined up perfectly.

hearts a plenty Die-namicsSMALL

Don’t forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

A Wild Christmas Card!

SU-Christmas-Helen2-wm

Hi everyone,

My card today is another of the cards I made at the shoebox swap at the end of October. This Christmas ornament set was very popular, I think 4 of the 7 cards that we had to make on the day used this set. It is a set I like, so that is a good thing!

SU-Christmas-Helen-wm

The style of this card is what we used to call “wild” due to the strange shape of the card. I used to make them a lot about 10 years back and have a few different templates for them somewhere in my supplies. I love the fun shape of this and have already used the idea for another card I made and posted earlier in the month. This card was designed by my friend Helen!

Here is the inside of the card!

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend :)

Today the Paper Pretties Design Team are featuring the new Everyday Sentiments stamp set that will be released along with 6 other stamp sets this coming Friday 12th November.

For my card I decided to create a wild card using my Cricut Wild Card cartridge. It is hard to tell by my photos but the base card is purple, it looks navy in the photos I know … I hate when the colors don’t look true.

For the embossing part of the challenge I added stripes of pink card that I embossed using a cuttlebug embossing folder to the bottom of my card.
