Merry Christmas Ornament Surprise

Hi Crafty Friends,

It’s challenge time with the “Crazies” over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Nicky Foden our challenge hostess for the month continues to issue the challenges.

For our challenge this week we are to make a card with texture. It can be fabric, mesh, sandpaper or anything else you can think of that can be a different feel to a card.

For my card today I pulled out the new Surprise Ball Pop-up die set which is one of the new dies being released on Monday from Karen Burniston.

Here is a quick video to see my card in action. I love how the card surprises you by popping/jumping up as you open the card.

I decided to use the ball to make a Christmas ornament, and I added my texture requirement for the challenge to the ornament. I used some texture paper I have had for some time and finally found a use for. The paper was silver, so as I wanted gold on my ornament I painted over it with gold paint.

To make my ornament look like it was an ornament hanging on a Christmas Tree, I used the pine branches from Divinity Designs Pinecones & Pine Branches die set.

Here is an overhead photo of my card, so you can see the whole card at one time. I added a sentiment using the Merry Christmas die which is layered onto ovals from the Crosshatch - Ovals die set.

The flap at the front of the card is  from Karen Burniston's new Flap & Closure die set.

I kept the front of the card simple, as all the action is on the inside. But I did add a sentiment and Christmas Tree so the recipient knows which way is up.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the “Crazies” cards over on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and also their individual blogs for more details.
